Very Helpful and Knowledgeable
5 /5
I had many questions, and after a few days we finally got stuff figured out. Throughout the whole process he was very helpful and knowledgeable which is defiantly better then going to facebook marketplace. I tried that, but the information from an expert just helps much more. I would defiantly recommend Ryan to other customers.

Knowledgeable and listens too!
5 /5
I very much enjoyed working with Leo on my ski purchase. I had done some research on my own but had not settled on a particular ski. I came across Curated by accident and did not know I would be connected to a live person - and someone who is quite knowledgeable as well! Leo listened to what I was looking for and put together some recommendations personalized for me. I was able to review these on my own schedule and later discuss my questions with Leo to finalize my selection. I’ll definitely recommend Leo and Curated to friends and will be back for my next pair of skis!

I was super skeptical of this website at first I assumed the suggestions were just from an AI generated bot, but Leo is definitely a real human and a knowledgeable one at that! He knew the area i ski in maine and made suggestions based off my skill level and northeast conditions. Can’t wait to take my new gear out in a few months!

All-Mountain Snowboards

Versatility and adaptability for the rider of any skill level. For beginners, buying an all-mountain snowboard will provide you with a platform built for exploration and fun. Have confidence through fresh snow, icy groomers, choppy moguls, and the most technical of tree lines. All-mountain boards are your do-it-all solution! With various camber profiles, rocker profiles, and hybrid profiles like GNU and Lib Tech’s “Banana” profile, this is the largest category of snowboards with a variety of shapes and sizes suited for any skill level. Check out this article for help with snowboard sizing!

Powder/Freeride Snowboards

Maybe you’ve heard the saying “no friends on a powder day.” While any mention of deep powder gives you every right to be selfish, you’ll still want to be accompanied by your trusty powder board buddy for extra float on those deep days. With a wider nose, shorter tail, tapered shape, and a setback stance, the right powder board will have you laying trenches when the snow is face deep—leave the snorkel at home! The Jones Stratos snowboard is a great example of a true freeride board while the Capita Spring Break series offers a wide array of powder boards!

Park/Freestyle Snowboards

Park and freestyle are where the creative possibilities of snowboarding truly shine. If you’re the audacious adventurer dropping cliffs, think freestyle. These slightly directional boards can often blur the lines of all-mountain boards. If you’re the bold local park rat jibbing rails and hucking jumps, think park boards. Park boards typically have an identical (twin) shape from tip to tail with a wide variety of profiles and flexes for beginners to competing professionals. Consider the type of terrain you ride most often, when choosing between park and freestyle boards, along with your skill level. Beginners will want a soft rocker profile while seasoned park rats will want a camber profile for added pop. Check out Never Summer’s Harpoon for a versatile freestyle board, or their Funslinger for a beginner-friendly park board!

Split boards

Splitboarding isn’t for the faint of heart! If you’re tired of lift lines and prepared to venture out of bounds, prepare for a serious investment. Your splitboard speaks for itself with the ability to split into two ‘skis’ for uphill travel. When choosing a splitboard size, whatever you’re most comfortable with in-bounds will still be the right size board for you.

Remember, an awarding descent requires a strenuous ascent! For ascending, you’ll need skins, poles, a technical backpack, and some snowboarding knowledge. Straying away from the resort also means no ski patrol, no cell service, and the inherent risk of avalanche terrain. For safety, you’ll need (at the minimum) a beacon, snow shovel probe, helmet, and most importantly, a buddy. If you’re considering your first splitboard, chat with an expert!

Snowboard Boots

Boots might not be the most exciting purchase of your first setup, but they’re arguably the most important! Beginners will benefit a great deal from the cozy softness of a low-flexing boot that allows for easy board and ankle movement. Advanced riders should look for the rigid responsiveness of a high-flexing boot for maximum control and stability at high speed. Size and fit are also an important consideration, you’ll likely wind up sizing down a half to full size—avoid really thick socks as well. Your expert can fit you comfortably from your home!

Snowboard Bindings

Once you’ve established your boot size, bindings are the last step to being connected to your board! Different manufacturers have different size charts, so make sure that your bindings fit your boot and the width of your board! Bindings have evolved a lot since their invention in 1970, but the traditional heel & toe strap is still used in the highest level of competition. You can also consider rear-entry bindings that use a rear buckle entry instead of straps, or eliminate the straps altogether with Burton’s Step-On system or the K2 Clickers!

Accessories

Before you hit the slopes, there are a few key accessories you won’t want to be caught without. For functionality and safety, you’ll absolutely want a helmet and goggles. You should also invest in a few pairs of wool or blended moisture-wicking socks and a durable pair of mitts or gloves for cold days and deep snow! Additionally, a snowboard specific screwdriver is useful to have on you at all times in case of binding malfunctions.

Apparel

“There’s no such thing as bad weather, just inappropriate clothing!” Consider the climate where you snowboard most often when choosing a jacket and pants. In general, layering is by far the most effective way to stay comfy on those long lift rides. To keep your core warm, you’ll want a tight moisture-wicking top, a cozy insulated mid layer, and an appropriate snowboard jacket. For cold and dry climates, your jacket could be puffy and insulated. For more moderate, wet climates, you’ll want a waterproof shell. The exact same applies for your legs, just skip the mid layer. Whatever your preferences, an expert can help keep you warm and stylish all season long!
