Alex K.
Born in New Hampshire's White Mountains and later raised in New York's Adirondacks, hiking is in my blood and a primitive campsite is one of my happiest places. I am a trail runner and have competed in unsupported races up to almost 30 miles long.
I am a journalist by trade (I have a degree in print & multimedia journalism) and have spent the last 10+ years writing about sports and most recently retail. I have been to two Olympics (as an intern in 2008, then a journalist in 2014), a straight-up sportswriter, an off-the-beaten path outdoor and recreation columnist, the managing editor of a leading nordic-skiing website (FasterSkier.com), co-founder and editor of a local mountain-bike magazine/trail guide, and copyeditor for The Orvis Company.
I live and breathe for the outdoors. It clears the mind, keeps me energized, and helps me reconnect with life at its most basic level. The right gear helps, too, which is why I'm excited to share my lifetime of knowledge in camping, hiking, and trail running with you.
