Dan Nigro
I began bicycle racing at age 21 in 1997 (uh oh; I'm dating myself). So I'm what you'd call a late bloomer. I've always been involved in all sorts of sports, such as skateboarding (1983- present), martial arts (1985-1986- present), pro mountain bike 1999, road debut 2001, and still racing when feasible in 2021.
I'm doing some final really fast time trials before I retire (j.k, I'm not retiring)! Meanwhile I'm strategically leveraging myself to surround myself with the right people and items to help guarantee my success. Surround yourself with excellence and expect gains in excellence.
Cycling, the most efficient means ever devised to transport humans, isn't just a hobby to many- it's a way of life. For me, it's a sport and I'm only typically interested in those at pretty elite levels. There's a reason why some of us ride fast; we've got lots and lots of other things to do. You may tell the difference between pro and an amateur (a word based on the root word 'amore', meaning love) by vacations. If you're taking a cycling vacation- you might be an amateur. If you're taking a vacation FROM cycling, you might be a pro.
'Spend half your time riding with people better than you (that develops your skill), and half your time riding with people not as good as you (that perpetuates the sport!)' Quote me on it. Love, -Dan
