Greg McCandless

I've been skiing since age 2, and grew up going every weekend to Swain in upstate NY. I ended up getting serious into racing, and was invited to train with the US Ski Team—well, the D squad—in my early teens. I've skied all over Vermont, Colorado, and even made it out to Alyeska, AK! Eventually I shifted gears and got into Big Air competitions and moguls, and today I spend a lot of my time in the terrain park. My other life as a pro music producer for TV scratches the "gearhead" itch in that area, but with Curated, I can use my nerdy ski gear knowledge to help folks enjoy every day on the mountain just like I do! I also run a YouTube channel called Descent At Best, which is dedicated to showcasing the amazing trails and slopes here in Western NC.

Oddly enough, I am also a professor of music theory at Appalachian State University, and I hold BM (UNC-Chapel Hill), MM (FSU), and PhD (FSU) degrees in music. I am happy to chat about music and skiing as well as MTB—I am a Cycling Expert at Curated, too—when we connect!
