Darren's experience with Hayden
So I guess I'll start with I live 2 hours from the nearest shop and then I'd have to pay jacked up prices just because it's Lake Placid.
My current k2 Amp 80x's that I bought probably 7 years ago have finally officially become rock skis;as all good skis are apt to do.
Since then I was in a car wreck that shattered (shidoobie) my pelvis and left me with a bunch of metal,14 screws, and a nail on my left side.
It leaves me with a harder time to make left turns. I lack a lot of strength on that side and have to think to make turns that way.
This past season 3 years post said accident I started to get back to skiing more aggressively and am back in the trees again!
Because of the time it takes to process the need to turn and then get my body to engage I'm like .5-1 seconds slower to compute and complete which when in the woods can be like French frying when your supposed to pizza.
I'm on 177's now and in my mind if I went shorter it would help compensate for some of that lag.
Being a tall guy he made recommendations to not go much shorter than I'm at now because we talked enough for him to know that it would rob me on my primary style of bombing groomers.
I was hoping to be able to go down to a 168. He reached out to another colleague to get their input and it was agreed to be too short.
Which was a little sad to hear because I found a SICK deal on a pair of Nordica Dobermans I had planned to buy before I had started talking with him.
I was also holding out hope that I was going to get my hands on discounted pair from a friend's uncle who works at one of the manufacturers so I hadn't fully committed to the sale yet.
Few days go by and Hayden, like the great American he is as you see in his profile picture, reaches out to me to let me know that their black Friday sale has started and if I'm still interested my bride will yell at me 20% less!
And now you know the story of how I got my next Rock skis
