I grew up in the mountains in Oregon and got on skis for the first time at 1 1/2 and have been skiing ever since. I raced when I was young and then got into free-riding in high school. College brought me to the east coast where I had to learn a whole different kind of skiing on the cold icy mountains of Maine, Vermont, and New Hampshire. Several years later I moved to Japan and got reacquainted with powder skiing on a whole new level. When I moved back to Oregon I worked as a ski instructor for several years before moving up to Alaska and getting into back-country, snow science and eventually ski patrol. I have been patrolling now for five years and ski 120+ days a year in all conditions, all around the western half of the US and Canada. Love deep pow, big mountain lines but still spend plenty of time cruising groomers with my friends and family.
