Octavio Rivas

The Short:

Octavio Rivas is a jack of all trades and by this I mean he has worked in multiple industries, ranging from ski resorts, hospitality, military, and recreational. He works out of a room with some climbing gear 🧗, snowboards🏂, skis🎿, and his dog Vesta🐾, who stares at him for another walk around the mountains or for treats.

The Long:

I was born in beautiful Concepcion, Chile. (Yes, the country that looks like a Chili pepper) We moved to the states when I was a wee lad, doing my elementary in Virginia. Later would move back to Chile and stay throughout high school. During this time I was focus on a snowboarding career and instead, I got injured and started to reconsider my life choices. I would create a board shop that was a great success and then was looking into becoming a sports physician. However, life happens again and decided to move to Incline Village, NV, and study Finance & Economics, and Global Business Management.

With more things happening in between, and of course the pandemic. I started to look at what made me happy, and photography, film, and being able to travel were keystones. Now I work as a UX Designer, Investor, Business developer, Digital Marketing, and most recently, yours truly Curated Expert.

Incredible!!

Amazed at how helpful Octavio was. He gave incredibly helpful advice and helped me a great deal over multiple hours. I ended up having to purchase the products on another website due to shipping timelines but did buy the products he recommended (and really wish I could have bought them through here instead!!) Could not recommend him enough and I’ll definitely be coming back!

Fixed several safety issues

He gave me enough insight to fix the horribly unsafe setup that Alpine Ski Lodge in NC had given me and my family. Too small of boards, female step-on bindings with male boots. He was friendly and quick to respond and I'm so happy he was accessible because we had no way of knowing

Fantastic Advice for Noobs

I have been to the snow only two times with wrong gear and not the best experience. Years later I wanted to try again but with proper gear. Octavio put together great beginner/intermediate gear and offered advice between the different products, advice on beginning snowboarding and much more! Done with a friendly positive experience. High recommend.
