It started with hockey. Believe it or not sunny South Florida has a small but solid hockey culture that I became a part of at a young age. My Grandpa and Uncle were avid golfers but as a child I lacked the patience for the pace of the game. But I learned how to generate force by twisting my body on plane to transfer that energy into a stick.
Golf didn't come into my life until much later in life. A good friend's wedding where he shared he wanted us all to play a round of golf the day before. Knowing nothing I went to the thrift store and walked out with a Bobby Jones Driver, a set of very old Cobra King oversized irons and a classic Spalding putter. Needless to say the round was not pretty. Except for the last par 3. 140 yards downhill into a valley of trees where for the first time of the round I made good contact and flighted my ball just far enough to roll up on to the green leaving about a 12 foot putt. By the ghost of Arnold Palmer himself the ball dropped netting my first birdie.
From there I was hooked. Weekly rounds with my uncle practicing and learning the game. Weekly Sunday rounds with the boys. Twilight rounds after work racing the sun. Hours of watching different swing experts. And my favorite part of that time; buying and selling used clubs. I bought and sold hundreds of clubs that first year. Putting the money into dialing in my bag and paying for rounds. Testing clubs old and new. Improving week by week. Learning and feeling the difference of the new technologies and which were effective for improvements for the average golfer.
I'm not a pro golfer by any means. I'm the buddy meeting you for the early Sunday tee time. I'm the friend racing you to muni after work. I'm get the drinks at the turn. I am a student and nerd of the game and it's equipment.
Let's get you out there with the right gear to elevate your game to the next level!
