Sammi VanEaton
I grew up as a skier and although I loved being on the mountain, I didn’t fall in love with riding until three years ago when a friend and I decided to “rock a jerry day” and switch gear. I strapped on her snowboard and have not touched a pair of skis since. The very next season I moved to Whistler B.C. and became snowmaker, so I could ride every day. Living among expert riders I quickly expanded my passion and skill level. Through my job, I got avalanche training and backcountry experience. I was hooked, I moved into my Subaru and spent a month traveling throughout British Columbia Split boarding.
I spent last season riding west coast concrete while working as a snowboard instructor in Washington state. As an instructor I soaked up all kinds of information about board performance and technical capability. Gaining this information transformed the way I ride and the way I understand snowboards as tools. I was fortunate to demo different types of boards and experience how important it is to get the appropriate board for different weather conditions and personal riding styles.
I often got called out for “wagging my tail” from excitement as I watched my students nail what I was teaching them. Whether it was something as foundational as linking their first turn or a more advanced maneuver such as (my person favorite) creative carving. I am excited to help you discover the right equipment for your best days on the mountain.
