About this Review: This review is my honest opinion of the putter, which I purchased with my own money in February of 2022.

My take

The Odyssey White Hot OG Rossie putter is a great putter for mid-to-low handicappers. It is a great putter for a straight-back putting stroke with minimal rotation. The White Hot insert and milled face surface are great for feel and making sure golfers hit a pure stroke every time.

What I was looking for

I was looking for a mallet putter with a straight hosel neck. I really wanted a putter with a better feel and something to help me hit my line with increased precision.

Why I chose this club

I bought this putter as the price was not as steep as a Scotty Cameron putter. I like a putter with a half-moon-shaped mallet and straight hosel neck that can increase my line consistency.

I considered buying an Evnroll putter but due to the price difference, I bought the Odyssey. Ultimately, I was also able to hit my line more consistently with the Odyssey.

What I love about it

  • Face Feel: The classic White Hot insert that Odyssey is known for is a great feel for me. I like the White Hot head insert along with the milled surface finish. When putting the proper stroke on the ball, it feels so pure and the ball has a pure roll to hit every putt in the hole.
  • Forgiveness: This is a great putter for minimal arc and rotation. I naturally have a straight-back putting stroke so this putter is fit perfect for my putting stroke. For a rotational putting stroke, this putter is not very forgiving, and mishitting the face will not feel very pure.
  • Weight: One of the main reasons I got this putter is that its standard head is heavier than the typical mallet head. I did not need to buy weights to make the mallet head heavier. I like a heavier head for my putting tempo.
  • Alignment: The putter comes with 3 lines on the face for a great visual to align the putter to the ball perfectly. It has 2 lines leading back to the toe of the putter which is a great visual for my back swing to stay in line.

Issues I’ve encountered

  • Aesthetic Appeal: The small mallet head is not very appealing visually at times as it feels really small compared to standard mallet heads.
  • Grip Feel: I kept the standard Odyssey DFX grip which was the stock grip. I do not really like it as I like a bigger grip in my hands for all my clubs and putting. The downfall for me in the grip is keeping it standard as it decreases my feel.
  • Customization: I have the stock version with no customization. I do wish I was able to customize my grip when I ordered the putter.

Best Putt or Round with this Putter

I remember playing a 36-hole event in Sedona, AZ. My first round was at Sedona Golf Resort and on that particular day, I was not hitting my approach shots very well. The greens were really fast as well so I knew it was going to be a short game grind that day. I managed to hit my chips to around 10-12 feet most of the time and this putter was on fire that day. I had no birdie putts but managed to shoot 80 with only 40 putts. This putter saved my round! Anything under 10 feet was rolling in that day. The feel of the face just matches what I want and I managed to score a good score on a tough day.

Value for the money vs. other options

This putter is definitely worth the money. When comparing it to a TaylorMade Spider, any Scotty Cameron, and any Evnroll putter, I’d be saving over $100 for a great putter with the same feel. At about $230 MSRP, I can not beat it for a premium putter as the other brands listed reach MSRP of $400. This is a great buy for any mid-handicapper trying to lower their scores and reach a single-digit handicap without compromising their wallet.

Final verdict

This putter truly unlocks a great feel at contact which helps increase consistency with every stroke. The weight of the clubhead is perfect for making pure contact with each putt.
