About this Review: This review is my honest opinion of the golf club, which I purchased with my own money in February of 2022.

My take

The Tour Edge Exotics C722 fairway wood was the surprise of the year for me. Having played the Exotic line previously, I expected a great-feeling sweet spot. Not only did the feel stand out, but the control over the ball flight is something very appealing for better ball strikers.

What I was looking for

I was looking for a forgiving 3 wood with a controllable ball flight. In the past I had used a 3 wood off the tee box or for aggressive approach shots into par 5 greens.

Why I chose this club

I chose the Tour Edge Exotics C722 3 Wood because it offered the best overall feel. I did consider Titleist’s TSi3 fairway wood, which offered a similar feel. Tour Edge offered the best sound, lowest spin rates, and most versatility.

What I love about it

  • Distance: I hit the club just as far as I’ve ever hit a 3 wood. Average distance of 275 yards.
  • Forgiveness: It offers way more forgiveness than any 3 wood I’ve owned previously. In turn, this allows me to hit more fairways and greens in regulation.
  • Feel: This is the best feeling club in my bag. The hollow, sweet spot feedback, the premium shaft.
  • Workability: It is easy to shape shots as intended. Keeping the ball flight low or high, being able to shape shot trajectory, and control spin rates.
  • Adjustability: This club is extremely adjustable: from loft and lie angle adjustments to club head weight.
  • Shaft Feel: Great shaft feel with Fujikura; firm and stable. Great for confidence when hitting tougher shots.
  • Shaft Performance: Great shot dispersion. Consistent distances on mishits, and it’s easy to transfer energy to hit the ball far.
  • Aesthetic Appeal: This club has a beautiful look. It’s a mostly black finish with simple design.
  • Grip Feel: CPX Golf Pride grip offers a softer performance grip. This allows me not to lose any grip stability in rainy or wet conditions and to be able to play my best golf always.
  • Launch Angle: Controllable launch angle; I can hit the ball low or high as preferred.
  • Spin: Low spin rates to keep the ball on the fairway and rolling. This is thanks to a weight placed near the face of the club that can be adjusted to change overall swing weight.

Issues I’ve encountered

  • Sound: The club offers great sound on well struck shots: a “tink” to tell where the club is struck on the face. However, some golfers are not going to like how this club sounds. The Exotics series tends to be “loud” when hit outside of the sweet spot. This is meant to help golfers realize where and when they are missing off of the tee box.

Best shot with this club

The best shots I have had with the club have been high launching shots and low flighted stingers: both into greens and off of the tee box. My favorite memory so far is using it back to back on a par 5. The C722 was the smart play off of the tee box in a tight fairway—taking the bunkers out of play. I was able to hit the middle of the fairway, and then follow it up by using the 3 wood again and hitting the green, giving myself a great chance at eagle.

Value for the money vs. other options

Tour Edge offers great value, a less expensive product than comparable options using similar technology, and the same stock-shaft options. More expensive options on the market include the Stealth Plus, Rogue ST Max LS, Cobras LTDx LS. I would pick the Tour Edge C722 over any of these more expensive options based on performance.

Final verdict

The Tour Edge C722 is a great option for golfers with confidence. This is a versatile club that will reward well-struck shots.
