How it performs
What I was looking for
I wanted a golf ball that would provide me with more greenside control. Something also to help ball flight be more consistent.
Why I chose this golf ball
I chose this golf ball because it is very highly rated for greenside spin and control. However, I did consider the standard Chrome Soft and the ERC Soft from Callaway.
What I love about it
- Green Spin: The Supersoft has excellent greenside spin and control. This golf ball's highly versatile, multi-material build allows it to bite the green as soon as it hits. The soft compression core behind this golf ball also speaks to its tremendous control on the greens.
- Durability: The cover is built with an innovative paraloid covering. It is a strong impact material, keeping the golf ball scuff free for longer.
- Color: It’s matte. The neon green is very easy to see in all conditions.
Issues I’ve encountered
- Distance: I have seen a slight drop in my distances. The multi-construction covering on this golf ball does not get quite the same rollout a harder compressed golf ball would in the fairways.
- Feel: The ball cover design has a tougher matte finish and feel. For some softer chip shots, I would feel that difference off the clubface compared to the smooth, crisp clap of catching a traditional golf ball like the TaylorMade Tour Response or the Callaway Chrome Soft golf balls. Some golfers may not like this feedback and feel.
Best shot with this golf ball
Rather than one best shot, I have played the best round of the year with this ball. It was due to this ball and sitting my chip shots in excellent potions for a birdie/par putt. Whether I was 60 yards out or sitting on the fringe, the ball just continued to check up when I needed it to.
Value for the money vs. other options
Currently, these golf balls are well under the average price for higher-end golf balls, such as the TaylorMade Tour Response, Titleist Pro V1, and the Callaway ERC Soft. A tremendous value for the money.
Final verdict
This ball is a must for golfers looking for a golf ball that will provide more consistency and tremendous greenside control. What it lacks in distance, it is sure to make up for it in the short game. Consistency and control in the short game are what are going to lower those scores.
