About this Review: This review is my honest opinion of the golf club, which I tested for one day.
My take
The Callaway Rogue ST Max Hybrid is an amazing hybrid for forgiveness. For golfers struggling with slicing or hooks, this club is a possible solution. I had some difficulties with the overall launch of the hybrid and hitting a higher, softer shot, but overall it could be a game changer for the mid-to-high handicapper.

How it performs
What I was looking for
I wanted to find a very forgiving hybrid that the high-handicapper could feel confident hitting off the tee, in the fairway, and in the rough. I wanted to find a large clubhead design that gave confidence at address and could help reduce slicing or major hook .
Why I chose this club
I decided to test this club because I have been very impressed with the Rogue line of clubs from Callaway and had a feeling that this hybrid would not disappoint. I also tested the TaylorMade Sim2 Max Hybrid and felt that although its distance was amazing, the Rogue ST Max Hybrid was almost as long and way more forgiving.
What I love about it
- Distance: With the new Jailbreak system and A.I. face technology, this hybrid did not lack in distance. It is a very long hybrid that will definitely increase the carry for players in need of distance.
- Forgiveness: This was its best feature by far. The Jailbreak system, which has two frames on both sides of the face, helps create stability in the clubhead for less twisting at impact. In my opinion, this makes it the most forgiving hybrid on the market.
- Feel: Overall this hybrid had a great, balanced feel from the head weight to shaft.
- Aesthetic Appeal: The clubhead is a little larger than I like but for the high-handicapper the amount of confidence it will provide is amazing.
Issues I’ve encountered
- Sound: I found the sound was a tad too “clicky” for my liking.
- Shaft Performance: I would recommend adding a high-launching shaft because it was very hard to hit a higher, softer shot that lands on greens.
- Launch Angle: The angle is a tad low for the high-handicapper which I did not like. It is a distance monster but even with the tungsten weighting it still does not get the ball high enough to hit the high, soft shot into a par 5 or a long par 4.
- Spin: It is a lower-spinning hybrid for sure. Players will need to use a higher-launching shaft to increase spin and launch.
Best shot with this club
I hit a ton of great shots with this club but the most impressive shot was someone else’s. I brought over a high-handicap player (21 handicap) and he hit his current hybrid then hit the Callaway Rogue ST Max. He gained almost 20 yards in one shot.
Value for the money vs. other options
There is somewhat of an expensive price point but for the distance gains and forgiveness it is worth the value hands down. It is a super forgiving hybrid that will help with the long game. I would recommend getting a higher-launching shaft when looking to purchase this hybrid as it is a fairly medium-launching hybrid.
Final verdict
This is an amazing hybrid that is worth every penny. Golfers will gain distance but without sacrificing any accuracy as this is one of the most forgiving hybrids. The only thing I would change would be the shaft, but only to hit higher and have the club land softer. To golfers struggling with their long game, get this hybrid.
