About this Review: This review is my honest opinion of the putter, which I purchased with my own money in March of 2020.

The Odyssey Stroke Lab Double Wide putter is designed for golfers of all ability levels. The clubface is forgiving, and the putter has a smooth, balanced feel. Anybody looking for a putter to make their stroke feel more natural will enjoy this model.

How it performs
What I was looking for
I went to a custom fitting with an open mind about what style of putter I would purchase. I wanted to find a putter to make aiming easier and limit how often I pull my putts.
Why I chose this club
I chose the Odyssey Stroke Lab Double Wide because it was the putter I aimed the straightest. It was also one of the putter models that I hit the straightest. These performance improvements were due to the putter head and the putter length, which is 1” longer than the putter I replaced.
I also considered purchasing a similar mid-mallet designed by Piretti. However, I went with the Odyssey Stroke Lab Double Wide because the Stroke Lab shaft felt comfortable, and it cost half the price of the custom Piretti putter.
What I love about it
- Face Feel: The face has a firmer feel than most previous Odyssey models. All Odyssey Stroke Lab putters have the White Hot Microhinge face.
- Weight: The overall weight of the putter is heavy, but it feels balanced due to the counterweight in the grip. This makes my stroke feel smooth from the start of my backswing to the end of my follow-through.
- Alignment: I like the single white line on the top of the putter to help line up putts.
- Length: I ordered the putter at 35”, which is more comfortable than my previous 34” putter. It allows my arms to hang naturally and my posture to be more comfortable.
- Aesthetic Appeal: Double Wide putters do a great job of blending the looks of a blade putter and the performance benefits of a mallet. As a person who loves blades, this was a great option to help me improve my putting.
Issues I’ve encountered
- Forgiveness: Despite the soft feel of the face, this putter does not forgive on putts that I hit far out on the heel or toe.
- Grip Feel: I have a Super Stroke 3.0 grip on the putter, which is too large. I wish I had ordered the putter with a Super Stroke 2.0 or a larger pistol grip.
- Customization: There weren’t many customization options for this putter beyond the standard grip and length options.
Best Putt or Round with this putter
My most memorable moment with this putter was a nine-hole round that I played at my home course Meadow Hills. I shot -2 for nine holes with two birdies. I remember feeling confident over every put and holing the second birdie on hole 6 from 7’ right in the center of the cup!
Value for the money vs. other options
I feel that the Odyssey Stroke Lab Double Wide is worth the money (about $250) compared to other putters I tested, which fell in the $350-$700 range. It provides similar, if not better, performance and didn’t hurt my bank account too much.
Final verdict
I have been very happy with my choice of a putter. The performance of the putter head and length of the shaft has been upgraded over my previous Toulon Long Island and has made me more confident on the greens.
