About this Review: This review is my honest opinion of the wedges, which I purchased with my own money in October of 2022.

My take

The Mizuno T22 Satin Chrome Wedges are an all-around performing wedge with plenty of options to choose from as far as grind and bounce combinations. The best looking wedges I have seen, they generate a ton of spin, and have a great feeling “click” when hitting the sweet spot.

What I was looking for

I was looking for the best-looking, feeling, and performing wedge on the market. To show off my wedge skill, and get creative with my wedge shots.I had been playing with various different wedges and shaft combinations. Including Cleveland Zipcores, Ping Glides, TaylorMade Milled Grind 3 Wedges. I wanted a wedge set that I truly loved.

Why I chose this club

I chose this club for the look, and for the bounce and grind options. I did consider the Tiger Woods Milled Grind 3 wedges, as well as Edel SMS wedges. But I chose the T22s for specific sole and bounce options. I have never played a 57 or 61 degree wedge, and having a seven-degree bounce is what looked best to my eye, and also fits my steeper attack angle.

Face grooves of the C and X grinds

What I love about it

  • Forgiveness: With a forgiving bounce and compact clubhead, this club is not designed for forgiveness greenside depending on the sole grind. Shots that missed the sweet spot were quite obvious through sound and vibration in the hands, which is preferred for perfectionists. Though there’s not much forgiveness from the heel, but great toe relief.
  • Feel: Exceptional feel. It comes off the clubface extremely soft, unlike any wedge I have felt before, so it’s tough to describe face feel. I’m able to get my hands into place easily.
  • Spin: Spin is a stand out; being able to control spin greenside and within 100 yards is a huge benefit. Golfers like myself who like to manipulate their spin rates are going to enjoy these wedges.
  • Bounce: These clubs have very forgiving, wider soles for better turf interaction. Great confidence booster on tough lies.
  • Around the Green: I see a great touch greenside; I’m able to land the ball and stop it where I would like to.
  • Full Shots: Great accuracy on full shots, and the swing feels natural.
  • Aesthetic Appeal: Best looking wedges I have seen. The Blue Ion finish and thoughtful design attribute to everyone asking why my wedges are blue.
  • Innovation: Mizuno is known for innovation with their materials. The copper underlay makes for an extremely soft feel.

Issues I’ve encountered

  • Launch: The launch is a bit lower on the slower-tempo chip shots. Having to speed up my hands at impact to generate enough loft on my higher degreed wedges isn’t ideal. I will most likely have them reshafted.

Best Shot with this Wedge

My best shots with the T22 wedges so far have been close to the green, controlling my landing area, spin, and roll out. Getting up and down much easier and with less work than my previous wedges.

Value for the money vs. other options

These wedges are well worth the value. For a timeless looking wedge, they are a great price. There are no other wedges under $200 that I would consider keeping as collector items and not using. Edel SMS wedges were my other consideration to be able to control the weighting of the clubhead.

Final verdict

Mizuno’s T22 wedges offer something for every golfer. With plenty of grind, sole, bounce, degree, color/material options, I would recommend these wedges to any golfer wanting exceptional feel and performance out of their wedges.
