My take

The Cleveland Huntington Beach SOFT Premier #10.5 Putter is a great mallet putter for those mid-range handicappers who want a putter that they can adjust to find the perfect balance and weight for their game. Its single line down the back is aesthetically pleasing that allows confidence to be had when stepping over each putt.

How it performs

What I was looking for

I was looking for a mallet putter that offered feel within the face and more consistency on putts within 10 feet.

Why I chose to test this club

The Cleveland Huntington Beach SOFT Premier #10.5 Putter has a milled face design that creates a softer feel where each putt is felt all the way up to my hands. Distance control and consistency on 10-foot and closer putts are premia with this club in my hands. I did not end up purchasing this putter as I was testing out the entire Huntington Beach Premier series, but I believe the #10.5 putter is one of the top three putters within this line.

What I love about it

• Face Feel: The soft feeling putter face creates consistency on longer lag putts but also for the feel around the hole on closer ones.
• Forgiveness: The forgiveness of the #10.5 putter was solid as I felt each putt was consistent regardless of where it was struck on the face of the putter.
• Weight: The weight is ideal at 365g because it allows me to keep the putter down throughout the backswing and follow through. This creates a consistent stroke zone on the putter face, allowing the face feel to take over.
• Alignment: The single black line creates a sharp visual that is easy to line up with the line on the ball for each putt.
• Length: I prefer a 35-inch putter, so the fact that this was a stock club allowed me to get a solid gauge of its swing arc and feel.
• Aesthetic Appeal: The gray satin finish is sharp and would give anyone some swagger when pulling the Huntington Beach SOFT Premier #10.5 out of their bag.
• Grip Feel: The grip comes with an oversized pistol grip which is incredibly tacky and soft. This grip would perform well in any type of condition.
• Balance: The MOI (Moment of Inertia) is high which creates a consistent backswing and follow through.

Issues I’ve encountered

• Customization: The only knock on the Huntington Beach SOFT Premier #10.5, which isn’t much, is the weight isn’t adjustable. Some other top-end putters on the market have adjustable head weights to fit anyone's weight preference.

Best Putt or Round with this Putter

I made back-to-back 20-foot putts and converted around 85% of my puts within 5-10 feet due to the putter’s feel, weight, and overall alignment.

Value for the money vs. other options

I tested the entire Huntington Beach Premier series of putters, and they are priced the same. The Huntington Beach SOFT Premier #10.5 Putter is one of the top-performing options in this series due to its weight, balance, and overall face feel. I also tried the Mizuno M. Craft series and would rate it just behind the Mizuno VI as I believe it is the best putter at that similar price point.

Final verdict

If someone is looking for feel and the ability to make more 5-10 foot putts to lower their scores, the Cleveland Huntington Beach SOFT Premier #10.5 Putter is a terrific option to consider.
