About this Review: This review is my honest opinion of the golf club, which I purchased with my own money in January of 2023.

My take

The TaylorMade Stealth Plus+ 2 Driver is a solid, forgiving, and reliable golf club. I like the increased forgiveness compared to the original Stealth driver, which is lighter and more stable. The Stealth Plus+ 2 driver is for the more advanced player looking for less spin. The driver is fade-biased but has a sliding weight that helps with direction. This club can be fitted with a large selection of stock and custom shafts.

What I was looking for

As a golf professional and teacher, I’m fortunate to try out any club. I have not changed my driver in three years. I didn’t find one that gave me a better chance to play my best. I wanted to find a driver that I could swing smoothly and go after the ball and still have forgiveness for my off-center hits. I wanted to get up to the ball and swing, no thinking, just play.

Why I chose this club

I looked at the new Callaway Paradym, the Ping G430, and the TaylorMade Stealth Plus+ 2. All of those drivers have their pros and cons. However, I purchased this club because I felt connected with the TaylorMade Stealth Plus+ 2. It gave me abundant confidence. I didn’t have to think about the club or the swing. I just got up and hit the ball.

What I love about it

  • Distance: This club offers confidence, and with confidence comes everything else. I average eight extra yards with this club. This is the first club to outhit my old driver in three years.
  • Forgiveness: The main difference between this driver and the others I looked at is forgiveness. The MOI (Moment of Inertia) is increased; therefore, the sweet spot is a bit larger for off-center hits. I feel the difference on the course.
  • Feel: I like the weight of the club and the way the ball feels when compressed and goes off the face. The club also feels stable through the swing, giving me confidence.
  • Sound: The sound is muted and doesn’t attract attention. For me, it’s just right. It lets me know that I hit it well.
  • Adjustability: The driver is fully adjustable with a sliding weight on the back, and the loft can be changed two degrees up and down.
  • Shaft Feel: The custom shaft was fitted for me. It works well with the clubhead. The shaft feels smooth and matches my swing speed.
  • Shaft Performance: The shaft allows me to keep the ball straight. I can choose the right shaft for my game as a custom shaft.
  • Launch Angle: The driver is adjustable and comes in multiple lofts, either two degrees plus or minus. The new 60X carbon twist face has a face cover that provides the right amount of texture to maximize spin and launch.
  • Spin: The Stealth Plus+ 2 is a low-spinning driver, which is what I wanted. It works well for me.

Issues I’ve encountered

  • Workability: It takes a bit of effort to work this club the way I want; I have to play with the adjustable weights and fine-tune it for my swing.
  • Aesthetic Appeal: I’m not the biggest fan of the red and black; however, the carbon on the clubface is nice to look at during address. MyStealth is available in which I was able to customize my driver from many different colors.
  • Grip Feel: I prefer my own grips—Golf Pride CP2 wrap—because they are more comfortable in my hands and more durable than the stock grips.

Best shot with this club

I had a memorable shot with the TaylorMade Stealth Plus+ 2 Driver on a par 5-hole at an Orlando golf course. The tee shot was over water from the back tees, and the wind blew sideways. I wanted to hit the ball and let it ride with the wind to hit my target.

Also, I had to clear a certain tree to get a clear shot at the green, which I had never been able to do before. The driver gave me confidence, so I just got up on the tee and let it rip with nothing to hold back. The ball flew with a piercing flight, and the wind ended up taking it just enough to hit my target area.

I had a nice smile on my face. At the time, I didn’t know if it cleared the tree I tried to get by. However, when I got to the ball for the first time on that hole, I cleared the tree, another big smile on my face.

Value for the money vs. other options

I compared this TaylorMade Stealth Plus+ 2 Driver to the Callaway Paradym, the Ping G430, and the Cobra Aerojet. The prices are similar, except for the Cobra, which is cheaper. I feel I got the bang for the buck on this driver because of the forgiveness. If I hit a few mishits, the ball still goes straight. I like the option of MyStealth, which allows one to customize the colors and other items on the driver. The club gives me a lot of confidence, and that is priceless.

Final verdict

The TaylorMade Stealth Plus+ 2 Driver is a well-made, stable, and forgiving driver. The off-center hits go straight, providing me with a lot of confidence. I can’t describe enough how important confidence is for golf. In addition, I like the custom shafts that are available and that it is adjustable.

For the player that wants a low-spinning, fade-biased, forgiving club, this driver can be a very good candidate to be in the golf bag.
