About this Review: This review is my honest opinion of the putter, which I tested for one day in February of 2023.
My take
The Cleveland Huntington Beach SOFT #14 Single Bend Putter is great for the “feel” putter who wants a putter that can be more consistent from 6-10 feet. I believe the mid to low handicapper would find this putter beneficial to their game because of its optimal feel and instant feedback due to its milled face design.

How it performs
What I was looking for
I was looking for a mallet putter that offered a softer feel within the face. The milled face design allows for softness, which is a huge asset for this putter when it comes to consistency and distance control.
Why I chose to test this club
The Cleveland Huntington Beach SOFT #14 club's milled face design creates a soft feel where each putt is felt all the way up to the hands. Distance control and consistency on 6-10 feet putts are premium. I did not end up buying this putter as I was doing a side-by-side test with the other Huntington Beach SOFT putters.
What I love about it
- Face Feel: The milled face design allows for a soft feeling putter face, creating consistency on longer lag putts and the feel around the hole on closer ones.
- Forgiveness: The forgiveness is huge as putts struck off-centered are still able to stay on line and find their way to the hole.
- Weight: The #14 putter comes in at 370 grams which is heavier than most other putters on the market, but love the way it stays down and through on shorter putts. It is easy to gauge how much power and touch are needed on longer lag putts because the putter's head swings through due to its weight.
- Alignment: The alignment has a sleek, blank top surface with a single line going back on the mallet portion of the putter. I believe this leads to a confident setup each time, knowing the alignment is right.
- Length: I prefer a 35-inch putter, so the fact that this was a stock club allowed me to get a solid gauge of its swing arc and feel.
- Aesthetic Appeal: The gray satin finish was sleek and sharp when I pulled it out of the bag.
- Grip Feel: The grip had a standard VSN Winn grip which was soft and tacky. I enjoyed it because it suits all types of weather conditions and any type of grip preference.
- Balance: The #14 putter has a higher MOI (Moment of Inertia), creating an even backswing and followthrough with each putt regardless of how far the putt is.
Issues I’ve encountered
- Customization: The only knock on this putter is the inability to adjust the weight. I prefer heavier putters, but one who wants to adjust the head weight to a lighter or heavier weight is not able to do so. This could be a deal breaker if someone is especially used to a lighter-style putter.
Best Putt or Round with this Putter
I made my first 7 putts within 10 feet, and they were all in the center of the hole. The feel of this putter is amazing and allows me to adjust to the slope and speed of the green.
Value for the money vs. other options
I tested the entire Huntington Beach series of putters, and all of them are priced the same; however, I feel this is the best putter because of its feel, weight, and overall consistency. I tested this in comparison to the Callaway Triple Track series, and for these being about $150 cheaper, they are a terrific option for their price point.
Final verdict
For its price point, the Cleveland Huntington Beach SOFT #14 is one of the best mallet putters on the market that I’ve tested within the last year because of its feel and balance throughout each stroke. Although it's an older model, the price point is a steal and one of the best bang for its buck options out there. The middle-tier handicap golfer would find this a great option to add to their bag.
