What I was looking for

I was looking for a golf ball that would decrease spin to help me hit my driver and fairway woods longer. I also wanted to see if any balls on the market would help make my alignment better.

Why I chose this golf ball

I chose this golf ball because I loved the feel I got from it while being a “firmer” golf ball. Additionally, this ball was very low spinning with my driver, which helped me hit it further but spun enough for approach shots. Finally, this golf ball has the Pix system, which helps me align my putts better.

What I love about it

  • Distance: This ball is the longest distance ball I have tested. The ball is low spinning, which helps to increase distance for all my clubs. I hit this ball consistently five yards further than any of the competitors.
  • Feel: The Pix 2.0 is the best feeling X model golf ball on the market. All X model balls are the lower spinning option with a firmer core to keep the spin down. However, this firmer core creates a hard feeling with most of them. Although, the TP5x feels extremely soft for being a low-spin, firm, distance golf ball.
  • Green Spin: The Pix 2.0 has a lot of green spin even though it is a low-spin distance golf ball. This ball has plenty of spin around the greens and even from longer-distance approach shots. I have had no problems spinning this golf ball and getting it to hold greens or even spin back.
  • Color: The TP5x Pix 2.0 has a gloss white finish with orange and black triangles as an alignment aid. This added color makes the golf ball even easier to find, and I personally think that it looks really good.
  • Alignment: The Pix technology is made up of various orange and black triangles to create a board for a thick strip along the ball. This open strip is used to align putts to ensure they are straight to the target line each and every time. I have noticed much better putting since switching to this golf ball.

Issues I’ve encountered

  • Durability: This golf ball is not nearly as durable as many of its competitors. This ball will last about 18 holes and a few more before starting to really scuff.

Best shot with this golf ball

The best shot I hit with this ball would be on a short par 3. The par 3 is about 162 yards, and I hit a 9-iron. The pin was tucked in the front right part of the green, so the best shot would be to hit it past the pin or way left. I chose to hit it just past the pin, and it went 165 yards. Because of the spin from the ball, it spun back closer to the hole, leaving me with a 5-foot putt. Thankfully, I made the putt.

Value for the money vs. other options

The TaylorMade TP5x Pix’s largest competitor would be the Chrome Soft X Triple Track, which is also a firm, low-spinning golf ball with an added alignment aid. The TP5x ball goes further than the Chrome Soft X, spinning the same to help around the greens. Additionally, I prefer the look of the Pix technology to the Triple Track. The Chrome Soft X costs around $49.99, while the TP5x Pix 2.0 costs roughly $52.99. I personally think the extra money is worth it because of how much better the TP5x ball is.

Final verdict

The TaylorMade TP5x Pix 2.0 Golf Ball will help players with high swing speeds hit longer drives. This ball will also help all golfers line their putts up properly every time to make more putts and shoot lower scores.
