About this Review: This review is my honest opinion of the wedges, which I purchased with my own money in October of 2022.

My take

The Mizuno T22 Blue Ion Wedges are truly beautiful and perform as well as any wedge available. In addition, they have a unique look and greenside spin. These wedges are great for golfers who want a traditional-looking club and have options with lofts and grinds.

These generate a ton of spin

What I was looking for

I was looking for the best-looking and best-performing wedge. I loved the blue finish and liked the idea of having multiple sole grind options in varying lofts.

Tough not to show everyone your new wedges

Why I chose this club

I chose this wedge because this wedge set chose me. Golf gear should call out to you. I owed it to myself to get such beautiful wedges; blue is one of my favorite colors. Yes, I make gear choices based on looks—look good, feel good, play good. I was sold on these wedges strictly based off looks. Performance was simply a bonus. Getting to pick my ideal loft and bounce was great. I really liked the look of the sole grinds. I did consider other options, such as the TaylorMade Milled Grind Sole and Edel SMS wedges.

Groovy as it gets

What I love about it

  • Launch: Easy to hit and high launching. The ball gets up in the air quickly. The benefit of having wider soles. I noticed this around the greens and on approach shots. Helpful for any golfer.
  • Forgiveness: Extremely forgiving for a blade profile wedge. The T22 offers as much forgiveness as some cavity-back options.
  • Feel: Great overall feel. I have no complaints about feel with anything Mizuno. The ball comes off the face very softly. Other brands offer a firmer face feel. I prefer the softer face feel. Golfers have preferences with shot feedback and how they’d like the vibrations in their hands to feel.
  • Around the Green: The T22 Blue Ion wedges are weapons around the green. Easy to launch, easy to generate spin. I enjoy the lower-degree bounce and getting aggressive with approach shots.
  • Full Shots: Exceptional flight control with a heavier clubhead feel, confident looking down at, not too thin/small of a profile.
  • Aesthetic Appeal: Gorgeous piece of art. Quality design, Blue Ion finish is unmatched. It’s almost hard to hit because they just look that good.

Issues I’ve encountered

  • Spin: At times, the wedges can be tough to control spin. They have a ton of spin. There is much more spin on approach shots compared to other brands I’ve tested.
  • Bounce: It can offer too much bounce for the lower handicap golfers. The wider sole is hidden well, though.

Might put these in a showcase

Best shot with this wedge

My best shots with these wedges were on 16 and 17 of my best round of the year. I had two wedge shots on back-to-back holes that I needed to be perfect, and I could rely on them. They pulled off two up-and-down pars that were pretty unlikely—saved my round and shot my lowest score all year.

Value for the money vs. other options

The Mizuno T22 clubs are definitely worth the money for approximately $159.99. It is a fair price compared to Callaway Jaws, TaylorMade Milled Grind 3, and Titleist SM9 Vokey, which are priced around $179.99. The T22s are quality clubs that perform and look as well as any.

Final verdict

The Mizuno T22 Blue Ion Wedges are for the collector and those wanting a ton of spin and forgiveness within a traditional-looking non-cavity back wedge. Being able to pick from a wide variety of lofts, sole grinds, bounce and finish options, these are for golfers who are picky/particular.
