About this Review: This review is my honest opinion of the putter, which I tested for one day in March of 2023.

My take

The Cleveland Huntington Beach Soft #11 has an incredibly soft-milled putter face. As a feel putter, this is one of the best values on the market. The Cleveland Huntington Beach Soft #11 putter retails for around $149, and it has the touch and consistency of putters double the price. I believe this putter will be best suited for that middle-tier golfer who wants to take their game to the next level without breaking the bank.

What I was looking for

I was looking for a new mallet putter that offered more consistency on shorter putts within 10 feet and fit within my budget. I also wanted to see how it would blend with longer lag putts and increase my statistics of less than three putts per round.

Why I tested this club

I tried this putter because I saw that it fit within my price range and had tested the other Huntington Beach Soft series of putters. I also have been a big advocate for mallet putters, and the Soft #11 drew me in because of its design and weight. I can see myself buying this putter in the future as its performance and value are unmatched.

What I love about it

  • Face Feel: The face technology has a balancing feature that allows me to feel the club striking the ball, giving me more confidence to make more putts.
  • Forgiveness: The Cleveland Huntington Beach Soft #11 putter has a “wing” design to it that creates a consistent rollout with each putt, as the aerodynamics and weight distribution allow for a repeatable strike off the clubface.
  • Weight: The weight comes in at 370g, which is a huge plus to me as it stays down and through each putt. It creates a consistent backswing and follow-through, which helped immensely with speed control.
  • Alignment: The Cleveland Huntington Beach Soft #11 has great alignment with its silver head and a single dark line down the backside of the putter. It made me feel confident that I was always aligned with where I needed to aim.
  • Length: The #11 putter was 35 inches, allowing me to have free-hanging arms, which helped me create an even stroke. I go back and forth between a 34 and 35-inch putter, being 5’10’’, but for the weight and composition of this putter, I enjoyed the 35-inch length.
  • Aesthetic Appeal: Pulling this out of the bag was a nice feeling. The steel shaft down to the silver mallet head really made the putter stand out.
  • Grip Feel: The grip feel was solid. It has a pistol grip which is comfortable regardless of hand placement.
  • Balance: The Cleveland Huntington Beach Soft #11 putter has a higher MOI (Moment of Inertia), which creates an even swing through the stroke and consistency on all lengths of putts.

Issues I’ve encountered

  • Customization: There are no adjustable weights to the putter. I enjoyed the current weight, but if someone is looking for a lighter putter, this will not be one they like.

Best Putt or Round with this Putter

During my practice session, I focused on short putts within 10 feet, and I consistently made 8 out of 10 putts. I loved the confidence and consistency I had on these shorter putts. On the few longer lag putts I hit, I could dial in my speed control and had multiple tap-ins.

Value for the money vs. other options

I think the Cleveland Huntington Beach Soft #11 putter is worth the value. I also tried the Odyssey DFX series and the Huntington Beach Premier series style of putters, and all performed well, but for $149, this putter is one of if not the best value on the market.

Final verdict

The Cleveland Huntington Beach Soft #11 putter unlocks confidence within 10 feet of the hole. I believe with this putter in hand, I was a better, more consistent putter, and the mid-tier handicapper would add a ton of value to their game by putting this in their bag.
