About this Review: This review is my honest opinion of the wood, which I purchased with my own money in February of 2023.

My take

The Tour Edge Exotics E722 Fairway Wood is a sharp-looking and very forgiving fairway wood that most mid to high handicappers should consider who are looking for a club that can provide really good value for money regarding looks, sound, feel, and performance.

What I was looking for

I wanted to replace my current 5 wood with something a little easier to hit off the fairway than my Sim 2. Also needed a club that I was comfortable hitting off the tee to find a tight, narrow fairway for some of the holes on my local courses.

Why I chose this club

I decided to buy this club because I had tried the E722 Hybrid and was remarkably impressed with it. Therefore, I wanted to see what the rest of the E722 lineup looked like from Tour Edge, especially having used my friend's E722 5 Wood on the course before. I considered getting the Cobra LTDX LS 5 wood to match my 3 wood and driver, but I wanted something a little more forgiving and had a bit more spin on shots than that particular fairway wood offered.

What I love about it

  • Distance: Really good distance. I was a little concerned that this club would have too much spin and prevent me from hitting the yardages I wanted to, but this isn't the case, and I hit this club easily and far enough without having to swing out my shoes. The swing speed I get on average is very good, even on mishits. However, the distance is not as long as other low-spin fairway woods when I get one out of the middle, but it’s much longer than others on mishits that seem almost to travel just as far, which is a bonus I really enjoy.
  • Forgiveness: Probably the most forgiving 5 wood I have hit thus far. I am super confident setting this club up at address, even before shots off the deck which isn’t normally the case with a fairway wood. I think it is due to the club having a slightly more shallow clubface than my previous 5 wood, and the shape of the clubhead just seems to scream forgiveness to me with it being a little longer front to back.
  • Feel: The feel of the club feels very nice, and the ball seems extremely quick off the face, even on hits I don’t catch in the center, which I thought wouldn't be the case, but the forgiveness of the club really makes the feel of off-centered hits very similar to that of ones I catch out of the middle.
  • Sound: Short sharp sound at impact, which seems more muted like the low spin fairway woods often have. This surprises me in a good way, as I expected something a little more tiny or metallic.
  • Adjustability: I was little worried this might not launch as high as my 19° 5 wood, but this wasn’t the case. It launches plenty high enough. If I didn’t know it was 18°, I would have said it plays more like traditional 19° 5 woods. Unfortunately, there is no adjustable hosel like other premium fairway woods, so I must stick with the 18°. However, if I get the right launch angle from the get-go, it works.
  • Shaft Feel: The Ventus Blue 60 is a little lightweight for me if I’m honest. However, I never swing too hard because I can get a very fast swing speed on 80-90% swings anyway.
  • Shaft Performance: The shaft's performance is fantastic and seems perfect for mid-to-high handicappers. I prefer a slightly heavier option, though.
  • Aesthetic Appeal: It’s another great-looking club from the E722 lineup by Tour Edge. I really like the Diamond face technology in the clubface. It looks just like a premium fairway wood should.
  • Grip Feel: Grey Lamkin crossline grip is absolutely fine. No complaints.
  • Launch Angle: Nice and high. It feels more like it is at 19° than 18°, if I am honest.
  • Spin: High spin, unlike most of the fairway woods I had tested prior that went with the lower spin for maximum distance and were not as forgiving as this fairway wood.

Issues I’ve encountered

  • Workability: I personally find it quite easy to hit a draw with this club with the right swing, but a little harder to hit a fade. I think this is because the club is slightly draw-biased and the clubface is a little closed at address. But the most common shot for me is pretty dead straight. So if I want to work the ball, it’s definitely doable with the right swing, but there’s no doubt the club just wants to hit relatively straight on most shots.

Best shot with this club

My best shot is probably the first one I ever hit with this club because it shocked me so much. My friend had already bought the club and hit one far straight off the deck on a par 5. I remember thinking, “Wow, that’s a great shot,” especially with him being a much higher handicap than me. So I asked if I could try the club for one shot and had about 250 into the green. Normally this would have to be a really good 5 wood for me, but I just wanted to hit it straight, so I swung comfortably and aimed just left of the green as I had been hitting a baby fade that day. To my surprise, the ball went dead straight and ended up right on the mount next to the green I had aimed at and traveled the full 250. The next thing I knew, I ordered the club online to do more testing the next day.

Value for the money vs. other options

Value for money is where the Tour Edge Exotics Fairway Wood absolutely destroys the competition. It performs like the big brand premium fairway woods but at half the price. It looks, sounds, and feels extremely good, especially on mishits. And most importantly, it gets really good swing and ball speeds. The E722 definitely spins up more than my previous Sim 2 5 wood and maybe doesn’t go quite as far on the best-struck shots, but it certainly goes further on a batch of 20 shots where some I don’t quite catch on the center of the clubface.

Final verdict

Mid or high-handicappers simply must give this club a try. Not only will the club not burn a hole in someone’s pocket, but they would also be hard-pressed to find another fairway wood they could hit consistently like this one and look this good at address.
