My take

I personally think the Volvik Marvel Gift Set of golf balls is aimed at casual players. They are fun, well-performing golf balls with cool colors.

How it performs

What I was looking for

I am always looking to try new golf balls or clubs. I saw this Volvik set in the PGA store and had to try them. I think they’re great mid-level golf balls.

Why I chose this golf ball set

I picked up roughly 100 of these Marvel golf balls—all different colors and a few gift sets to keep and give away. It’s a unique ball for any Marvel fan with cool colorways. Golf is supposed to be fun, and these add a little more fun to the game than the standard white golf ball. I think Volvik makes a great ball for the price point.

What I love about it

• Feel: The feel around the greens is on the firmer side, which I like because I'm normally on the course in the early morning with a lot of dew.
• Green Spin: I find them easy to produce spin around the green or when trying to get a ball to stick on the green. They are great for chipping onto the green and stopping the ball quickly when needed.
• Durability: They are extremely durable. I've hit them out of the sand and some pine straw, and they are still solid.
• Other: I love the colorway and the fact that they're just different. I also enjoy the playability of these golf balls.

Issues I’ve encountered

• Distance: My normal driving distance with a Pro V1 is about 250 yards. With the Volvik Marvel golf balls, my average driving distance is about 225 yards, so I have seen some distance loss on average.
• Color: Some colors can be hard to see when not in the sun. The Hulk purple ball off the tee gets lost unless in direct sunlight.

Best shot with this golf ball

I have hit a lot of great shots with these balls as I have been playing them on and off for the last three years, but my favorite shot was from a greenside bunker during a tournament in 2022. The hole was a 254 par 4. My drive landed me in a greenside bunker off the right side. I was able to get enough spin on the ball to land in past the flag and spin it back in for eagle, and it moved me into second place for the tournament.

Value for the money vs. other options

The value one gets for their money for the Volvik Marvel balls is one of the best on the market, in my opinion. They are a great performing ball without the heavy price tag of Titleist Pro V1s or Callaway Chromesofts. I recommend buying the Volviks when they're out in single versions instead of the gift set box if someone wants to play them because then they don't pay for the frills of the box.

Final verdict

I recommend these golf balls to any casual golfer who is a Marvel fan or looking for a different colorway than the standard white golf ball. They make a great gift set for any Marvel fan as well. These golf balls perform great for the casual golfer, but, in my opinion, they don't perform up to the gold-standard balls. I have played these balls on and off for the last three years and will continue to play them.
