About this Review: This review is my honest opinion of the iron set, which I tested for one day in April of 2023.
My take
The 2023 Cobra King Tour Iron Set is a solid option for those looking to gain more distance and consistency on approach shots into the green. These irons are geared for mid to lower-tiered handicappers who want to take their game to the next level.

How it performs
What I was looking for
I was looking to test a variety of tour “blade” irons that have recently hit the market. My TaylorMade Racs are outdated, so I’m looking to make a switch to something a little newer.
Why I chose to test this club
I didn’t buy this club, but enjoyed the feel and distance these clubs had to offer compared to their tour counterparts like the Callaway Rogue ST Pros and the Mizuno JPX923 Tour irons. The Cobra Kings were consistently five yards further and eight yards closer to their aiming point than the other two options.
What I love about it
- Distance: The distance was longer than most other irons I tried (Mizuno JPX921s and the Callaway Rogue STs). The loft on these irons is less than my current TaylorMades, which led to me seeing more distance consistently with each club creating more versatility on my longer irons to attack pins.
- Forgiveness: The soft face and dampening ability of these clubs allow for off-centered shots, especially on longer irons, to travel with 5–10 yards difference compared to those struck on the center of the face.
- Feel: The Thermoplastic Polyurethane design with the aluminum molds creates a soft face feel upon impact that allows each shot to be felt regardless of where it was impacted on the face of the club.
- Sound: The irons come with an engineered TPU insert that has been composed to give it a distinct sound and vibration that has a pristine ping to it.
- Workability: I am able to move the ball both from left to right and right to left whenever I feel like it with these irons. They are designed for a little higher skill level to see the workability play out, but they are fun to try out.
- Shaft Feel: The regular steel flex irons allowed me to move through the ball and create solid, consistent contact.
- Shaft Performance: The shaft performance is good overall, as they allow me to consistently strike the ball and have the same spin rate over and over at around 7300 RPMs with my 7 iron—which keeps the ball from spinning less side to side and keeps it going straighter for longer.
- Aesthetic Appeal: These irons have a sleek silver head with distinct, sharp lines that give it a modern look. This gives that extra bode of confidence when pulling it out of the bag.
- Launch Angle: The launch angle is right where I liked. I have a higher launch angle to begin with, so the fact that these irons replicated that time and time again was a plus. This creates a softer approach into greens and allows me to be more aggressive attacking pins.
Issues I’ve encountered
- Adjustability: These were the stock irons off the shelf, so there was no adjusting the clubs. However, there are graphite shafts that would suit someone else's game if that is their default preference.
- Grip Feel: The default grips I used were Golf Pride grips that were slippery to me. I prefer a tackier grip on my irons and would customize the grips with Golf Pride’s 360s edition.
Best shot with this club
The best shot I had with this club was when I hit three 7 irons in a row within 15 feet of the hole. These irons are crazy consistent and easy to swing.
Value for the money vs. other options
These irons are one of the better options on the market if someone is looking to add distance and workability into their game. The other irons I would compare them to are the Callaway Rogue ST Pros, as they have that “tour feel”, but I think due to the consistency and feedback that the Cobra Kings offer, they are the better deal.
Final verdict
These clubs offer distance and consistency in the midrange so golfers can attack more pins, lower their scores, and take their game to the next level.
