They offer a great feel and feedback, especially on center strikes, helping players understand their shot quality immediately. For skilled players seeking control and a classic iron experience, the P7•MCs are an ideal choice.

Expert Reviews of the TaylorMade P7•MC Irons

Nate Cox The TaylorMade P7•MC Irons are the best additions I have made to my golf bag in the past few years. After testing irons from numerous brands—all forged muscle cavity irons—the P7•MCs won. I am a low-handicap player who loves being able to fly the ball in various ways or work the ball in either direction depending on what any given shot is demanding, and I have found that to be quite easy with these irons. Part of the reason I have such high confidence in working these irons is that I know how I will feel and how the ball will react if I make a good swing. These should be on the shortlist of an advanced player looking to get into a new set of irons.
Christopher Thompson The TaylorMade P7•MCs are excellent for a low handicapper. Players confident in their ball striking can use this smaller clubhead to find consistent results. The forged feel on these irons is at the highest level, and results/consistency will be at a tour level.
Bradley Morton The TaylorMade P7•MC irons are very pure. The sound and feel of the compact grain structure forging are otherworldly. When struck well, golfers will not even know that they hit the ball; when struck poorly, they will get instant feedback. The thin sole of the club offers excellent turf interaction and will cut through it like a hot knife through butter. These are traditionally lofted irons, requiring some dialing in for one's yardages. For someone looking for a bladed iron with a hint of forgiveness on those off-center shots, consider giving the P7•MCs a look.

Workability

5/5
Nate Cox gave 5 of 5 stars. I am a golfer who likes to shape the ball in either direction depending on what a certain shot calls for, so finding clubs that allowed me to do that was important. I want to hit my natural fade but be able to draw one into a back left-hole location, and these irons have been easy to work both ways in my experience.
Bradley Morton gave 5 of 5 stars. The TaylorMade P7•MC Irons allow golfers to shape their shots with precision and control. These irons are designed for the low-handicap player who seeks versatility in their game. One of the standout features of the P7•MC irons is their compact and sleek design. This design allows for better control and workability, allowing golfers to manipulate the ball's flight as desired. Whether golfers need to hit a high fade or a low draw, these irons provide the tools to execute those shots confidently. The soft and responsive feel at impact allows for better feedback and control over the clubhead, enabling golfers to make subtle adjustments to their swing and easily shape the ball. The compact design and forged construction make these irons an excellent choice for golfers who value workability.

Forgiveness

3/5
Nate Cox gave 3 of 5 stars. The P7•MC irons aren't designed with forgiveness as a primary focus. These irons provide more forgiveness on mishits than a true blade-style iron, but they still punish on mishits, especially off the toe, in my experience. I have experienced a large drop-off in distance when the ball is hit off the toe, which is typical for a player's iron.
Bradley Morton gave 2 of 5 stars. The TaylorMade P7•MC Irons excel in forgiveness, given that they are bladed irons. These irons are designed for a low-handicap golfer and offer an ideal blend of playability and forgiveness. I can tell when I hit an off-center shot by the instant feedback felt in my hands. There is little to no offset in the hosel to help with slicing like game improvement irons have for the player that needs that bit of help.

Feel

5/5
Nate Cox gave 5 of 5 stars. The feel is one major advantage that these irons have over many others. A test I have for irons to help me gauge feel is to ensure I can feel and describe my slight mishits. I am not talking about the strikes, in which I almost miss the ball completely and hit it off the toe. I am referring to the strikes that are just a fraction off center or a groove or two higher or lower on the face. I can tell where I strike the ball, and these clubs maintain a soft feel on the solid strikes. This is what constitutes a good feel.

Sound

5/5
Nate Cox gave 5 of 5 stars. I am a feel golfer for the most part. I usually don't use the line on my golf ball to line up my putts. I don't need exact yardages around the green. Therefore, the feel off the face, the look at address, and the sound at impact are important in feeling confident with a club. The TaylorMade P7•MC irons give a good, dead-sounding "thwack" on impact, precisely the type of sound I love. I don't love a "clicky" sound for the most part, and I don't prefer to hear a "ping" on impact. The P7•MC irons have a top-tier sound for my preference.
Bradley Morton gave 5 of 5 stars. TaylorMade prides itself on the 2,000 psi compact grain forging. This process is double what the industry standard is. The forging process gives them the excellent sound and feel these clubs have. When struck out of the center, I hear a satisfying "thud" sound; the further outside of the center strikes, I hear more of a "click" sound. The feedback is instant, so I know as soon as I strike the center.

Launch

4/5
Nate Cox gave 4 of 5 stars. Can I control the flight into a green how I want to? With the P7•MC irons, the answer is a resounding yes. I naturally hit the ball pretty high with my irons. Still, I have had no issues flighting the ball down when playing into the wind or wanting to knock some spin off of a particular shot, even with the shorter irons.
Bradley Morton gave 4 of 5 stars. The P7•MC irons in stock form give me a mid-low launch off the face and a middle-of-the-road ball spin. The milled grooves on these will give one the spin they desire. Coupled with the KBS Tour stock shaft, they offer a nice penetrating ball flight.

Distance

3/5
Nate Cox gave 3 of 5 stars. Yes, the P7•MC irons will not hit absolute nukes, but that is not what they are designed for. These irons have been consistent in my distances. I know what to expect when I hit it solid and mishit the ball. They are meant for great feel and consistency, not for helping the golfer hit the ball a long way.
Bradley Morton gave 3 of 5 stars. Since these irons are for the more advanced ball striker, they are a traditionally lofted club. If upgrading from a cavity back or game improvement style club, I recommend going to the range to figure out one's distances. The P7•MCs are roughly 2° more lofted than the average game improvement iron. Because of the loft, these will not go as far. However, what someone loses in distance will gain in workability and feel.

FAQs

What was your favorite moment with this gear?

Bradley Morton The most memorable moment I have to date with these clubs was when I was 184 yards out from the green. The pin was a back pin, and I needed to work the 6-iron around trees. I hit a high fade that landed nice and soft, giving me a perfect tap in birdie putt.

Why did you choose this product?

Nate Cox I chose the TaylorMade P7•MC Irons because they felt great and looked great at address. I also wanted the workability and feel of a slightly longer blade length and some forgiveness that a muscle cavity iron like the P7•MCs provides.
Bradley Morton I decided to go with the P7•MCs because they were everything I wanted in an iron. I was upgrading my old clubs and wanted to get a player's iron/blade with a hint of forgiveness on those inevitable off-center shots.

What do you love about this product?

Nate Cox I love the look of them generally and at address. I love the feel of these irons on good strikes and their feedback when I mishit them. I value their workability and ability to shape them in both directions easily.
Bradley Morton These clubs have become my all-time favorites that I have ever owned. The ability to effortlessly shape the ball due to the milled grooves is great. I wanted a forged player's iron that had some forgiveness, and the P7•MCs tick every box for me.
