About this Review: This review is my honest opinion of the driver, which I tested for one day in June of 2023.

The XXIO 11 Prime Driver offers great distance while maintaining consistency and feel. I am pleased with my results off the tee and believe the low to mid-handicap golfer would benefit from adding this club to their bag.

What I was looking for

I currently play with an older Callaway model (XR16) and was looking for a driver with a lower launch angle. I tend to have a higher ball flight and want something that has a lower launch angle to create more opportunities for roll outs.

Why I chose to test this club

I decided to test this club because I have heard a lot of positive feedback about its performance and have a buddy who has it in their bag. I heard it was forgiving and had a lower launch, but I wanted to see if it was the real deal. I will not purchase it in the future because the price point is out of my budget.

What I love about it

  • Distance: The distance on this driver is consistent, averaging around 275-280 on average, roughly 5-10 yards further than my current driver, which is solid. The ball flies off the face quickly, making it a fun club to have in the bag.
  • Sound: The sound on the contact of the driver is pretty typical. It offers nothing flashy, which is what I prefer. It has a normal pinging sound that isn’t too loud where it's annoying, nor is it a dull thud that sounds monotonous.
  • Spin: The spin is lower than my current driver and creates more roll out. This consistently creates more distance and allows me to get closer approach shots into greens—a highlight for everyone looking to lower their scores. My spin rate, on average, was around 3,100rpms which led to more of that roll out and increased distance.
  • Forgiveness: The forgiveness was better than I hoped with how much distance it offered. It has a larger face that allows off-centered struck shots to still carry its distance and direction within 15-20 yards of centered struck shots.
  • Workability: With the 10.5° loft, I could work the ball as much as needed. The ball flight came out low and rose to a point where it could fade or draw on command.

Issues I’ve encountered

  • Grip Feel: The grip feel was very slippery. The grips are XXIO specific, but I tested these in dry conditions, and they weren’t great. If it were hot, cold, rainy, or I was sweaty, these would be hard to hold.
  • Shaft Feel: The lightweight shaft felt nice, but with a 97mph swing speed, the feel was too flexible for my game, and I struggled to find consistency in how I felt after each swing.
  • Shaft Performance: The 35g shaft is lighter than I normally play with (65g). I believe it is too light and creates some inconsistency within my swings. I would like to test it again with a heavier shaft.
  • Aesthetic Appeal: The aesthetics are pretty boring. The design is all-black and features nothing that pops off the club.
  • Adjustability: It has no adjustability features, so if someone wants to set up to hit a draw or fade, they have to do so based on their swing and not by changing the clubhead angles.

Best shot with this club

My best shot was on my third swing. I carried the ball 265 yards, which rolled out to 289 yards right down the middle of the fairway.

Value for the money vs. other options

Other good options exist, like the Titleist TSi4 or the TaylorMade Stealth. If someone is going to spend the money on a new state-of-the-art driver, the Titleist TSi4 or TaylorMade Stealth is just as good, if not better, for hundreds of dollars cheaper.

Final verdict

The XXIO 11 Prime Driver is a good option for those with more moderate swing speeds. I believe the mid to low handicapper would benefit from adding this driver into their bag; however, the price is a little steep compared to other high-end drivers on the market.
