The Curated Take

3.7/5

The Callaway Rogue ST Max OS Lite Irons are ideal for beginner and high handicap golfers, prioritizing maximum distance and forgiveness over workability and feel. The over-sized club head creates a larger sweet spot, ensuring consistent distance, while the high-launch nature assists in striking consistency. Its sound, comparable to most game improvement irons, does not detract from performance. The club’s design aims to increase ball speed, particularly beneficial for moderate speed players in achieving greater distances. These irons ultimately provide value for their price and quality.

Expert Reviews of the Callaway Rogue ST Max OS Lite Irons

Christopher Thompson The Callaway Rogue ST Max OS Lite irons are a game improvement iron for high handicappers and beginners with more moderate swing speeds. The ‘OS’ or ‘over-sized’ shape of the club head offers a thicker toppling and wider sole to create more forgiveness and distance with a larger sweet spot. This iron also includes a lot of offset which is good for correcting a slice. Players who struggle with making consistent contact also benefit from the larger club head and high launching nature. The ‘Lite’ aspect of this club means that lighter shafts and club weights will help players with lighter swing speeds produce a higher ball speed and higher launch angle. Senior players are a great fit for this club too.
The Callaway Rogue ST Max OS Lite is a great set for someone looking for the ultimate in a forgiving set of irons that is also lighter weight. This light weight allows more moderate swingers to pick up a little more speed and make it easier to swing them over the course of the round. Just like the ST Max OS, these are incredibly long and forgiving clubs that feel great. The difference is in the overall weight, with these being noticeably lighter.
The Callaway Rogue ST Max OS lite irons are great for the player needing a very lightweight iron. These clubs are made with a lighter design in the head and 40-gram shafts. As a result, they are super easy to swing and generate more swing speed and distance. The irons are super forgiving, and have a lot of offset and larger sweet spots. These factors make them forgiving and help make sure all shots go straight. These clubs are also great for new and casual players.
Brady Maag This is an iron that is geared toward somebody with a lower swing speed. More club head speed means more distance, which is ultimately what this club is doing while offering maximum forgiveness.

Review Ratings

Workability

2/5
Christopher Thompson gave 2 of 5 stars. Game improvement irons are primarily focused on distance and forgiveness benefits. Workability is a bonus to a club that more advanced players prioritize and can recognize the most. Beginner players should be more concerned with hitting straight and high launching ball flights consistently, rather than working the ball. That is why it is okay for this club to have low workability.

Forgiveness

5/5
Christopher Thompson gave 5 of 5 stars. The club head has max forgiveness across the entire club face. The OS nature of the club head means that the oversized head will also have an oversized sweet spot, meaning that small deviations from the center face on strikes will maintain a positive responsive feel. Plus, distance will also be maintained on these shots.

Feel

2/5
Christopher Thompson gave 2 of 5 stars. Game improvement irons are primarily focused on distance and forgiveness benefits. Feel is a bonus to a club that more advanced players prioritize and can recognize the most. Since the club is not forged, it does not have a premium feel like some player's irons. Additionally, the larger sweet spot gives an inconsistent feel.

Sound

4/5
Christopher Thompson gave 4 of 5 stars. The sound produced by the Callaway Rogue ST Max OS Lite irons is standard and comparable to other game improvement irons. The sound from these game improvement irons will not be as good as a premium or forged iron, but the sound is in no way bad. Shots off a tee often sound the best.

Launch

4/5
Christopher Thompson gave 4 of 5 stars. The launch on these irons benefits the target golfer the most. These irons target high handicappers and beginners, which is why they will have a high launch angle. Beginner players are more prone to struggle with ball striking consistency, and high launching irons will help them make better contact consistently.

Distance

5/5
Christopher Thompson gave 5 of 5 stars. The ‘OS’ or ‘over-sized’ shape of the club head offers a thicker toppling and wider sole to create more forgiveness and distance with a larger sweet spot. The larger sweet spot will help players maintain distance on shots outside of the center face. Players with slow swing speeds will get more distance out of this iron than other irons.

Christopher Thompson I knew that when I grew out of this product from a skill perspective, I would be able to pass it down to a family member who could use it best.

How do these Lite Irons compare to the standard Rogue ST Max OS Irons in terms of forgiveness?

The Callaway Rogue ST Max OS Lite irons are quite similar to the standard Rogue ST Max OS with one primary difference. Both feature an A.I. designed club face, a wide sole, tungsten weighting for forgiveness, and a generous offset making them easier to hit. The primary difference is that the Rogue ST Max OS Lite irons feature a slightly lighter club head to help the golfer with a slow to moderate swing speed swing the club a little faster to create more ball speed and distance.
Jared T. The Callaway Rogue ST Max OS Lite Irons and the standard Rogue ST Max OS Irons are both designed to be forgiving, but there are some differences between the two models that may impact forgiveness. The Rogue ST Max OS Lite Irons are designed to be even more forgiving than the standard Rogue ST Max OS Irons, with an emphasis on distance and ease of use. The Rogue ST Max OS Lite Irons feature a larger clubhead size and a lighter overall weight, which can help golfers with more moderate swing speeds generate more clubhead speed and distance. The lightweight construction of the Rogue ST Max OS Lite Irons also allows for more perimeter weighting and a lower center of gravity, which can help to reduce twisting on off-center hits and improve overall forgiveness. On the other hand, the standard Rogue ST Max OS Irons are also designed to be very forgiving, but they may offer a bit more workability and precision than the Rogue ST Max OS Lite Irons.
The Callaway Rogue St Max OS Lite Irons are a little more forgiving than the Rogue ST Max OS irons. The reason for this the heads are slightly lighter. This helps the golfer generate more swing speed and generate more launch and distance. But in doing this, the player doesn't have to exert as much energy to generate a fast swing. In terms of specs, the faces are pretty much the same, but the lower weight adds forgiveness.

What are the weight and balance differences?

Christopher Thompson The Callaway Rogue ST Max series offers 4 irons. In order from most advanced to most beginner is the Rogue ST Max Pro, ST Max, ST Max OS, ST Max OS Lite. The Rogue ST Max OS Lite features an oversized and lighter club head. This is meant for players with more moderate swing speeds so that the lighter head can help them generate more club head speed to launch the ball properly.
Christopher Colburn These clubs are extremely lite and are an extremely forgiving iron. They partner up a multi metal material construction with a light shaft to give you an excellent option to put into your bag with complete confidence and the ability to get up and hit great shots from the fairway and off of the tee.
Jared T. The Rogue ST Max OS Lite Irons are lighter overall than the standard Rogue ST Max OS Irons. This is due to the use of lighter weight materials in the clubhead and shaft, which can help golfers with more moderate swing speeds generate more clubhead speed and distance. The Rogue ST Max OS Lite Irons have a more perimeter-weighted design than the standard Rogue ST Max OS Irons, which can help to improve forgiveness and stability. This design feature can also help to improve the launch and trajectory of shots, making it easier to get the ball in the air.

What shaft options are available for this set?

The Callaway Rogue ST Max OS Lite Irons have two stock options in graphite shafts. These two offerings are the Project X Cypher Black 50 HB/IR Graphite and the Project X Cypher Black 60 HB/ IR Graphite. The Cypher Black 50 will promote high launch and high spin while being for the golfer that has a more moderate backswing and smooth transition on the downswing. The Cypher Black 60 will have similar attributes, but weigh a bit more than the other option. They are many custom options in shafts offerings from 10 different manufactures. It would be best to determine the appropriate custom shaft with a Curated Expert as it can be complex to understand.
Jared T. The Callaway Rogue ST Max OS Lite Irons come standard with the Aldila Quaranta graphite shaft, which is a lightweight, high-launching shaft that is designed to help golfers with more moderate swing speeds generate more clubhead speed and distance. In addition to the Aldila Quaranta shaft, Callaway offers several other shaft options including:  - True Temper Elevate 95: a lightweight steel shaft that provides a mid-high launch and spin. - KBS Max 80: a lightweight steel shaft that provides a mid-high launch and spin. - UST Recoil ESX: a graphite shaft that provides a mid-high launch and low spin. - Project X Catalyst: a graphite shaft that provides a mid-launch and low spin.
The Callaway Rogue ST Max OS Lite irons can come in many different shafts. Most of the time, these irons would be made with graphite shafts, as they are lighter than steel. However, they can come in steel. An example would be PROJECT X CYPHER BLACK 60 HB/IR GRAPHITE or PROJECT X CYPHER BLACK 50 HB/IR GRAPHITE.
