The Curated Take

4.2/5

The TaylorMade Stealth 2 Rescue Hybrid is an ideal choice for beginner to intermediate golfers, especially those with moderate swing speeds or who struggle with slices. Featuring a lower center of gravity for easy high launches and Twist Face technology for enhanced forgiveness, this hybrid ensures significant launch-to-speed conversion and good control from the tee box, fairway, or rough. Its draw bias helps reduce slices but may not suit advanced players. The hybrid is lightweight and comfortable but lacks customizable weight and extensive shaft options. It's ideal for golfers seeking a forgiving, versatile club to improve their game.

Expert Reviews of the TaylorMade Stealth 2 Rescue Hybrid

Tyler Brumback This Rescue hybrid is the ideal choice for the golfer who wants a forgiving option with some distance. The TaylorMade Stealth 2 Rescue Hybrid has a lower center of gravity, providing a better, more consistent launch off the box, fairway, or rough. The advanced face design allows this hybrid to utilize its twist face technology, thus helping golfers generate faster and further shots.
Christopher Colburn The Stealth 2 Rescue is a great option for any golfer looking to add a dependable hybrid to their bag. It is a very good-looking, excellent-performing club for any golfer. The launch and distance of this club are what drew me to it, as well as its shaft/grip options.
Ryan Hernandez This product is good for mid- to high handicappers who struggle with a slice. The clubs do have a bit of a draw bias to them, which is a bit of a disappointment since the HD is supposed to be the draw-bias model. However, slicers will love this club.
John Curtin This hybrid club is great for beginners or golfers with low swing speeds or trouble striking the ball with irons. If someone has trouble with their irons, adding a hybrid like this will really help them on the fairway. I recommend this club to any beginner or golfer who wants to control their club with a slow swing.
Jacob Wetzel The Stealth 2 Rescue hybrid from TaylorMade offers forgiveness for all skill levels. Twist Face technology angles the toe and heel of the clubface so that the ball will come off the club as if it were hit closer to the sweet spot. I use the 3-hybrid to replace my 3-iron because I can launch the ball higher from various ground conditions. For situations in the rough, the tall grass will grab the clubhead of an iron more easily than a hybrid because of the shape, producing more manageable results for the hybrid. Overall, this hybrid is as long and forgiving as any available.
Miguel B. The Stealth 2 hybrid tested was a #3, 19° hybrid. This non-adjustable hybrid felt less forgiving than other hybrids tested. However, it should be noted that while perhaps less forgiving, it is certainly more workable than other options. The flat sole and footprint size allow the player to manipulate the head more easily than bigger heads or models with rails. At address, the black head allows the player to address and frame the ball nicely. The impact feel of this club is very solid. Unlike a “bouncy” or “springy” face, this feels hard. It gave me feedback when I was not hitting on the sweet spot. Skilled players are likely to enjoy the versatility of this club and the feedback it gives them when not hitting pure. It has a mid-launch that flew long. It's not best for players looking for maximum forgiveness and a higher launch.
Matt Jones The TaylorMade Stealth 2 Rescue Hybrid is a very easy-to-hit and easy-to-launch hybrid. It’s forgiving on heel and toe strikes and always seems to work back to the center. Carbon in the crown allows the club manufacturer to lower the center of gravity by adding weight to the sole. The new V steel bottom that TaylorMade has patented allows the club to glide effortlessly through the grass. This club is long and hot on the face. Overall, it has a great sound and feel and is forgiving on mishits. It's ideal for the player who needs a little help with long shots into greens.

Workability

4/5
Ryan Hernandez gave 3 of 5 stars. The TaylorMade Stealth 2 Rescue Hybrid offers moderate workability, allowing golfers to shape shots to some extent. Its design elements, such as a balanced weighting and versatile sole design, enable golfers to manipulate ball flight slightly and adjust for different course conditions. However, because of the draw bias, I felt it was limited.
Jacob Wetzel gave 4 of 5 stars. For a top player and master ball striker who can find the center of the clubface with regularity, the Stealth 2 Rescue Hybrid is workable for all ball flights. I found it to be great in the wind and had no problem flighting it low when required.
Miguel B. gave 5 of 5 stars. In my testing, I found this club to be quite workable. In testing competitor hybrids that were specifically draw-biased, I got accustomed to a certain flight path. In sharp contrast, the Stealth 2 had a significantly different effect in directional flight. After multiple range sessions, directional flight could be varied relatively easily. Some were straight, others were draws, and still others were fades. Now, that varied flight was not always on purpose. The ability of this club to manipulate flight shapes fairly easily is a quality that certain players desire. For players who are looking for a point-and-shoot or corrective flight, this club may not be for them.
Matt Jones gave 5 of 5 stars. Most hybrids at address have a significant offset that promotes a draw bias. TaylorMade also has this but has found a way to disguise the offset to a more traditional-looking head shape. The significant offset is a reason I steered clear of hybrids for many years, as I felt I would snap-hook the ball. I am glad I gave the Stealth hybrid a chance, as I can even work the ball from left to right with these clubs.

Forgiveness

4/5
Ryan Hernandez gave 4 of 5 stars. Due to its advanced design features, the TaylorMade Stealth 2 Rescue Hybrid excels in forgiveness. The club's low and back center of gravity, combined with perimeter weighting, enhances stability and minimizes the negative effects of off-center hits. This forgiveness allows golfers to maintain distance and accuracy even on less-than-perfect strikes, boosting confidence and consistency.
Jacob Wetzel gave 5 of 5 stars. Twist Face Technology is incorporated into this hybrid to make shots struck on the toe or heel perform as if they were struck in the center of the sweet spot. This hybrid will improve shot dispersion and keep the ball in play when one is not able to make their best swing.
Miguel B. gave 3 of 5 stars. This club is not an extreme forgiveness hybrid. I found this club difficult to hit flush consistently. Not anywhere near a skilled tour player, I cannot always hit the sweet spot, especially if it is small. Therefore, I was not impressed with the forgiveness attribute of the Stealth 2 Hybrid.
Matt Jones gave 4 of 5 stars. Shots that are mishit on the toe or heel of the club work back to the center nicely. The height could be better on those strikes, but when hit out of the center, the ball goes really high, making it easier to hold greens on the longer shots.

Feel

4/5
Ryan Hernandez gave 2 of 5 stars. My biggest disappointment was that it looked and felt closed. While the TaylorMade Stealth 2 Rescue Hybrid may be less highly rated in terms of feel, its performance compensates for this aspect. The club's construction and materials prioritize performance over softness or feedback. While the Stealth 2 hybrid still provides decent feedback upon impact, if one does not need slice help, this club is hard to justify.
Jacob Wetzel gave 4 of 5 stars. Buttery feel at impact and capable of performing from a variety of ground conditions including the fairway, tee box, rough, or sand. I feel confident taking the club back and ripping through it with max speed. Lightweight through the impact zone and suitable for players of all skill levels.
Miguel B. gave 3 of 5 stars. When players hit a flush shot, they know it. That is certainly the case with the Stealth 2 hybrid. When I hit long, boring bombs, I could feel it, and it was amazing. Unfortunately, I didn’t hit the sweet spot the majority of times. When I missed, I got negative feedback. If golfers aren’t patient enough to work through that feedback, this club may not be right for them.
Matt Jones gave 5 of 5 stars. To be honest, I have always been a fan of TaylorMade woods. The reason is that the feel on great strikes is second to none. Other manufacturers feel like a more metal "ting" or harder feel. TaylorMade faces feel softer but offer feedback to know where I struck the ball. This is my opinion, and some people prefer the more metal feel.

Sound

4/5
Ryan Hernandez gave 3 of 5 stars. The sound of the TaylorMade Stealth 2 Rescue Hybrid is decent but not exceptional. The sound produced by the TaylorMade Stealth 2 Rescue Hybrid upon impact is decent, but it may not possess the distinctive acoustics some golfers prefer. The club emits a solid and satisfying "thwack" sound, indicating a well-struck shot. While it may not offer the same crisp or muted feedback as other hybrids, the sound is consistent and reliable. The acoustic profile is influenced by the club's construction, materials, and design, which prioritize performance over sound aesthetics. Although not a standout feature, the sound of the Stealth 2 hybrid doesn't detract from its overall performance or hinder a golfer's ability to assess the quality of their shots.
Jacob Wetzel gave 5 of 5 stars. I enjoy the smack of the Stealth 2 Rescue hybrid. The harder I swing, the louder the smack. The sound is pleasing to the ear and a sound that I want to repeat. When practicing on the range I can tell how well I made contact depending on the noise.
Miguel B. gave 4 of 5 stars. This is a heavy-sounding hybrid—not a high-pitched ping, not a hollow, weak click. This thing sounds hard. And when I hit it right, I knew it from the sound and the flight. If I missed, I felt and heard the mistake. This club is ideal for those looking for audible feedback in addition to tactile feedback.

Launch

4/5
Ryan Hernandez gave 4 of 5 stars. The Stealth 2 hybrid earns high marks for launch capabilities. Its design promotes a high launch angle, helping golfers achieve optimal trajectory and carry distance. This feature is particularly beneficial when navigating challenging situations like hitting into greens or clearing hazards. This was not the HD (High Draw) model, but it promoted that flight anyway.

Distance

5/5
Ryan Hernandez gave 5 of 5 stars. The TaylorMade Stealth 2 Rescue Hybrid excels in delivering very impressive distance. Its innovative technologies, including a high-strength face and optimized weight distribution, maximize ball speed and provide excellent distance gains. This attribute is particularly advantageous for golfers seeking long, powerful shots to reach greens or set up shorter approach shots.
Jacob Wetzel gave 5 of 5 stars. The Stealth 2 Rescue hybrid is capable of traveling a long way for all skill levels. For big hitters, this hybrid will travel farther than expected. For more moderate swing speeds and seniors, this club will help get the ball in the air and farther down the fairway with greater regularity. It is the longest hybrid available.
Miguel B. gave 4 of 5 stars. TaylorMade is a distance company. The Stealth 2 is a distance hybrid. Like their drivers, I found this hybrid to be quite long—the longest hybrid in my testing this year. It was not the easiest to hit the sweet spot with predictability. Skilled players with lots of control will love this club. This hybrid might not be right for those looking for more forgiveness.

FAQs

What was your favorite moment with this gear?

Ryan Hernandez I came across a tough par 4 that was longer. After a rough driver, I had a considerable distance to cover and a crosswind to contend with. I needed a shot to carry the hazards and land safely on the green. I pulled out the Stealth 2, and the shot took off with a piercing trajectory. To my chagrin, the hybrid delivered exceptional distance, allowing the ball to cut through the wind. The shot landed precisely on the green, leaving me with a manageable birdie putt.
Jacob Wetzel My favorite moment with the TaylorMade Stealth 2 Rescue hybrid occurred last summer at the Links at Stono Ferry on the outskirts of Charleston, SC. Number 10 is a short but tight dogleg right par 4 that I have always struggled with because the line that one must take with a driver or fairway wood requires a fade. Any ball that is drawn will go out of bounds, and with my natural ball flight being a draw, it makes this shot one of the most difficult of the day on a hole that should be rather simple because of its length. Hitting a 4-iron safely to the fairway is not quite enough club to avoid a blind second shot at the green, but the Stealth 2 Rescue hybrid provided me with the ideal distance to crest the hill and stay in bounds with a slight draw. I have found this hybrid to be the ideal club for this shot and many others.
Matt Jones The best shot I hit with this club was the second round. I had it in the bag. I tagged a drive down the middle and had 245 left in on a par 5 that required me to carry about 240 as water was short. I hit a great shot that had a little draw. It was high enough that when it landed on the green, it could hold the green and not roll off the back. Since that shot, I have been fully confident about the ball every time I use this club.

Why did you choose this product?

Ryan Hernandez Firstly, the brand's reputation for innovation and performance played a significant role in my decision. Furthermore, during my testing and evaluation process, the Stealth 2 Hybrid consistently stood out in terms of forgiveness and distance. Its forgiveness allowed me to confidently attack shots, knowing that even slight mishits would still yield respectable results. The distance gains achieved with the Stealth 2 Hybrid were impressive, enabling me to reach longer par 5s and attack greens confidently.
Jacob Wetzel TaylorMade is a top golf manufacturer known for its distance. I made it a point to try all of the new Stealth clubs from TaylorMade this year. They are revolutionary concerning their combination of distance and forgiveness, and I will not lie, I was persuaded by Rory and Scottie's "Far-giveness" commercial. I needed a reliable club for the gap between my 4-iron and 3-wood, and this 3-hybrid produces the ideal distance with the launch required to engage the stopping power necessary to land softly and hold the green.
Miguel B. I was fortunate to try this hybrid to compare it against my current gamer, which is a 2018 TaylorMade M3 hybrid. I was eager to see what the new design and features could bring to my game.
Matt Jones I have the Stealth 2 Plus driver and wanted to give myself more forgiveness in the 3 and 4-iron range, as those clubs can just be difficult to hit if the lie isn't perfect. I switched the 3-hybrid and 4-hybrid for my old 3 and 4-iron, and the results speak for themselves. I am so much more confident in those longer shots and the height gain on my shots is night and day.

What is the value for the money versus other options?

Ryan Hernandez I don't know if there is a ton of value for the money. It is priced pretty competitively in the market. It is cheaper than the Paradym but not as good, in all honesty. And the draw bias is a big turnoff. Anyone wanting a hybrid but not wanting to pay the Paradym price would be better off staying with the original Stealth.
Matt Jones Most brands have a hybrid that they offer at a similar price point. The Stealth 2 sets itself apart with a clean and inspiring look and a deep forgiving face. I feel like I can hit it on the toe or heel, and the ball seems to work back to the middle either way. One can't find a better value on mishits than this club.

What do you love about this product?

Jacob Wetzel I loved the combination of distance and forgiveness. My experience is that both are unmatched in the hybrid category.
Miguel B. I love the premium looks and solid sound of this club.
Matt Jones The Stealth 2 Rescue hybrid inspires confidence at address and allows for many shots to be played from a wide variety of lies. My favorite thing about the 3-hybrid is I feel confident hitting it from a tight lie from dirt or from thick rough. This club allows me to shape the ball both ways and doesn't feel like I'll snap-hook it as many hybrids do for me.
Ryan Hernandez Firstly, the forgiveness of this hybrid is exceptional. It features a low and back center of gravity and perimeter weighting, resulting in consistent ball speed and improved accuracy on off-center hits. This forgiveness gives me the confidence to swing freely, knowing that even slight mishits won't punish me with a significant loss of distance or accuracy. Secondly, the feel of the TaylorMade Stealth 2 Rescue Hybrid is fantastic. The club provides a soft yet solid impact sensation, offering excellent feedback on each shot. I can feel the clubface compressing the ball, giving me a sense of control and allowing me to gauge the quality of my strike. This feedback is crucial in fine-tuning my swing and making necessary adjustments to achieve optimal results. Lastly, the distance this hybrid delivers is remarkable. The combination of its innovative technologies, such as a high-strength face and optimized weight distribution, promotes faster ball speed and impressive distance gains. With the TaylorMade Stealth 2 Rescue Hybrid in my hands, I consistently see my shots travel further down the fairway, providing a significant advantage on long approach shots and par 5s.
