Expert Reviews of the TaylorMade Stealth 2 Driver

Christopher Colburn The driving is great, it features TaylorMade's new Carbon face insert, as well as offering multiple shaft options. It is an absolute rocket launcher of a driver while also being very forgiving on mishits. It is very stealthy looking (hence the name). It also is a very good looking driver in your bag.
I think by now we have all heard the cheesy line with all the TaylorMade stars. But honestly I found it to be pretty true. I was moving from an undersized Maverik to this Stealth 2, and it took some adjusting on my end with the longer shaft. I started not hitting the center super well, but found that these drivers were still flying further than I would have expected. After a bit I made the adjustment and then it was smooth sailing! When you hit the sweet spot it is like butter! One thing to note is that if you are moving from a driver that is not made with carbon, it will take a bit to get used to the sound. It's not the higher pinging you might expect, but as the distance grows so will your love for that sweet sound!
This driver is forgiving, but not as forgiving as other drivers I have used. It looks fantastic with the black and red color scheme, and feels great all around. I would like a sliding track on the base model, not just on the Stealth 2 Plus, to allow more workability, and even more forgiveness. But all around a good driver that sounds great, goes far, and has a good sweet spot in the face!
This driver is good for golfers who want maximum distance on center strike hits. Forgiveness falls off immensely as you get away from the center of the face. The driver has a premium sound that sounds great when hit. And the look of the club is top notch, though the glare can be blinding depending on the sun.

Workability

4/5
gave 4 of 5 stars. The workability of the Stealth 2 driver stems from its combination of design elements and adjustability features. The driver's aerodynamic shape and optimized weight distribution provide a stable and balanced platform for shot manipulation. Golfers can confidently adjust their ball flight trajectory and shape through the combination of loft adjustments, moveable weights, and draw/fade bias settings. The club's versatility allows for creative shot-making, enabling golfers to navigate various course conditions and challenges. However, compared to drivers specifically designed for maximum workability, such as low-spin models or drivers with adjustable hosels for more precise adjustments, the Stealth 2 may have slight limitations. Nevertheless, it offers ample workability for golfers who desire some shot-shaping capabilities without compromising forgiveness and distance.

Forgiveness

3/5
gave 3 of 5 stars. The forgiveness of the Stealth 2 driver can be attributed to its advanced Twist Face technology. The curved face design counteracts the tendency of mis-hits to veer offline, resulting in straighter shots and minimizing the dispersion on off-center strikes. While it offers a decent level of forgiveness, golfers should still strive for center-face contact to maximize performance. The driver's design and weight distribution contribute to stability and forgiveness, allowing for more consistent results across a range of swing speeds and skill levels. However, it may not provide the same forgiveness as other drivers with more extensive perimeter weighting or higher MOI.

Feel

5/5
gave 5 of 5 stars. The feel of the Stealth 2 driver is a testament to the meticulous craftsmanship and attention to detail. The combination of high-quality materials, precise engineering, and advanced manufacturing techniques results in a driver that feels solid and responsive at impact. The driver provides golfers with a satisfying sensation of power and control, translating to confidence-inspiring swings. The harmonious balance and weight distribution contribute to the overall feel, ensuring a smooth and well-balanced swing throughout the entire motion. Golfers can expect discernible feedback through their hands, allowing them to fine-tune their swing and make necessary adjustments. The excellent feel of the Stealth 2 driver enhances the overall enjoyment of the game and facilitates a deeper connection between golfer and club.

Sound

4/5
gave 4 of 5 stars. The sound of the Stealth 2 driver is a reflection of its design and construction. The clubhead's materials and internal architecture are carefully engineered to deliver a sound that combines power and precision. At impact, golfers are greeted with a satisfying and crisp "thwack" that resonates with a sense of authority. The sound conveys a feeling of energy transfer and signifies a well-struck shot. The balanced acoustics provide golfers with auditory feedback that can be valuable in assessing the quality of their swings. While personal preferences for sound may vary among golfers, the Stealth 2 driver strikes a harmonious balance that is generally well-received by players seeking a confident and reassuring sound at impact.

Launch

5/5
gave 5 of 5 stars. The launch characteristics of the Stealth 2 driver are a result of its carefully engineered design elements. The driver's low center of gravity (CG) and optimized weighting facilitate a high launch angle, ensuring optimal carry and distance. The combination of a shallow face profile, specific weight placement, and an optimized CG location work together to promote an ideal launch condition. Golfers can expect a penetrating ball flight with ample carry and a desirable descent angle, maximizing roll-out upon landing. The optimized launch not only enhances distance but also aids in holding greens on approach shots. Additionally, the adjustability options allow golfers to fine-tune launch conditions further, ensuring an optimal ball flight for individual swing characteristics and course conditions. The TaylorMade Stealth 2 driver's impressive launch capabilities make it a reliable choice for golfers seeking maximum distance and optimal trajectory.

Distance

5/5
gave 5 of 5 stars. The exceptional distance performance of the Stealth 2 driver can be attributed to several key factors. Firstly, the driver's aerodynamic design minimizes drag and promotes efficient energy transfer, maximizing clubhead speed for explosive distance. Additionally, the combination of optimized weight distribution, high MOI, and advanced face technology helps golfers generate significant ball speed and low spin, resulting in longer carry and added roll-out. The Twist Face technology minimizes the distance loss on off-center hits, ensuring consistent performance across the face. The optimized launch conditions, combined with the forgiveness and workability aspects, further contribute to distance gains. Whether it's the result of a powerful swing or a well-executed shot, the TaylorMade Stealth 2 driver consistently delivers impressive distance, making it a valuable asset for golfers looking to maximize their driving potential.

Why did you choose this product?

Choosing the TaylorMade Stealth 2 driver comes with a plethora of advantages that make it a compelling option for golfers seeking to enhance their game. Firstly, the driver's aerodynamic design and advanced technology promote increased clubhead speed, resulting in explosive distance off the tee. The combination of streamlined contours and optimized weight distribution allows for maximum energy transfer, translating into powerful drives that can give golfers a significant edge on the course. Additionally, the Twist Face technology counters the negative effects of off-center hits, promoting straighter shots and boosting accuracy. This forgiveness-enhancing feature instills confidence and provides a safety net for golfers of all skill levels, helping them achieve more consistent results. Furthermore, the adjustability options offered by the Stealth 2 driver allow players to fine-tune their launch conditions and shot shape according to their preferences and course conditions. While the TaylorMade Stealth 2 driver excels in many aspects, it may not be the ideal choice for golfers who prioritize workability and shot-shaping capabilities. The driver leans more towards forgiveness and distance, which may sacrifice some of the finesse and control required for players who prefer to shape their shots around obstacles or specific course layouts.

What is the value for the money versus other options?
