Brand Claims

What does Titleist claim about this club? Titleist claims that the TSR2 Fairway Wood is a highly forgiving option with a refined look and shaping to give players a consistent option off the tee or off the ground for a multitude of different shots. It’s an all-around easy-to-launch option that gives players added distance and a high amount of forgiveness.

Overall Impressions

What are the specs of the club you are testing? The specs on the TSR2 3-Wood that I hit is a 15 degree 3-wood head. It comes in a Mitsubishi Tensei Blue stiff flex shaft in 65 grams.

What is your overall impression of the club? My first impressions of the TSR2 Fairway Wood were really positive. I loved the distance and the forgiveness that I saw immediately hitting the first few balls. The feel and sound were also really crisp and really nice. I thought the feel was a little bit more on the softer side for the TSR2. And all of these aspects were really things that I specifically look for in a fairway wood.

Review

How is it for forgiveness, distance, and launch? The wood features a slightly smaller, more compact shape than previous models of Titleist fairway woods, but it doesn't lack in forgiveness in any way.

This is what I find really impressive about the TSR2 model, that despite its smaller shape, it doesn't sacrifice on distance, forgiveness, or launch. The smaller profile helps get the ball a little bit higher in the air. It’s easier with the lower center of gravity, and I find that getting this to launch either off a tee or from the ground is really easy to accomplish.

How would you describe the sound of this club and feel at impact? I find the sound and the feel on the Titleist TSR2 Fairway Wood to be really appealing. It has a nice crisp sound and feel at impact while still having a soft overall feel to it.

How is the weight? There is a removable weight on the bottom of the head that can be swapped out for a heavier or lighter weight to get the desired feel that a player is looking for. The TSR2 also features a hollow hosel, which gives some weight savings to the clubhead and can be replaced in different areas to help optimize speed and launch.

Is the club adjustable? The Titleist TSR2 Fairway Wood is adjustable. It incorporates a SureFit sleeve on the hosel that allows players to adjust the loft to get a higher or lower launch and adjust lie settings to help out with a consistent left or right miss correction.

What may make a player shy away from this club? I think there could be some higher handicap players that may shy away from the overall size of the head because it is noticeably smaller.

Recommendations

Who would you recommend this club to? I would recommend the TSR2 to any low to high handicap player who wants a slightly more refined shape from their fairway wood, as well as a high level of forgiveness, nice bit of distance increase, easy launch, and a really nice, soft feel.

Who should avoid this club, and what type of club would be a better option for that player? Higher handicap players or those who prefer a larger clubhead for confidence may want to avoid this club. Players who would like the maximum amount of forgiveness possible with a fairway wood, as well as a little bit more offset to help out with a slice or ripeness would be a better fit for the TSR1 Fairway Wood. Players that would like to have a little bit more adjustability with a SureFit CG track, a slightly more refined shape for some added workability, and a slightly firmer feel would be a better fit for the Titleist TS3 Fairway Wood.

Golf clubs work differently for different types of golfers.
