The Curated Take
4.3/5
The G3 Ion 10 Ski Bindings, primarily designed for backcountry touring, offer a balance of durability, functionality, and price. Although the power transfer and platform stability might not compete with specialized alpine gear, these bindings perform reliably for sub-100mm underfoot skis, providing durability even under intense usage. They are not suited for resort skiing due to release reliability concerns. This affordable, enduring product is ideal for those who prioritize robust, lightweight bindings and understand the limits of their gear in varied skiing conditions.

Expert Reviews of the G3 Ion 10 Ski Bindings
Henry Kvietok I have been heavily using these bindings on my main backcountry touring setup for several seasons now. I personally do not need the lightest weight gear out there. Instead, I look for great durability and ease of use. These bindings fit the bill for me. I like that they have an easy-to-click into toe piece, which is not always the case for touring bindings. The last thing I want to do in the field is fiddle around with my gear; with these, it is a breeze to click into and go. Plus, I am a fan of the brakes which is ideal if one doesn't want to use leashes and doesn't mind a couple of extra grams. The only major downside is that newer tech bindings have a better heel platform for better stability, which is pretty nitpicky!

Review Ratings
Power Transfer
4/5
Henry Kvietok gave 4 of 5 stars. These bindings work really well for me as a touring style binding. I have gotten used to not having a super wide platform on them as I do with my alpine skis. I also use these bindings on under 100mm underfoot skis, so there isn't a lot of ski to move around. For those who prefer a stabler binding or have wider skis, I'd look for a freeride style spacer on the heel.
Release Reliability
5/5
Henry Kvietok gave 5 of 5 stars. I have had several releases while using the G3 Ion, which has performed as expected. I have not had any prereleases, which is also a nice factor compared to other bindings I've used. Finally, I have only used these for backcountry touring. I would not recommend them for resort skiing, as one will have better releases overall.
Durability
5/5
Henry Kvietok gave 5 of 5 stars. Needless to say, I push the limits of my gear. I have used and abused these bindings in every condition for hundreds of ski days. When other bindings and skis have failed me, these bindings continue to rock on and provide me with the functions I need.
Versatility
3/5
Henry Kvietok gave 3 of 5 stars. These bindings are, first and foremost, touring bindings. Don't expect to use these at resorts. One would be better suited with other bindings that have better release ratings for the demands of intense downhill skiing at resorts. If they're not pushing it and understand the limits of the technology, they could use them at resorts. Still, I don't recommend it to everyone.
FAQs
What was your favorite moment with this gear?
Henry Kvietok Do you ever have one of those endless powder days where you never want to stop touring? I had a day like that this past season on Vail Pass, and these bindings rocked it. They were light enough not to drag me down on the uphills, yet I was confident to charge hard downhill, knowing these bindings had my back.
Why did you choose this product?
Henry Kvietok I knew I wanted something lightweight yet durable. I was not ready to go with a super light Skimo-style binding without brakes. I still wanted some qualities of an alpine binding. Combined with an approachable price point and neat orange/gray colors, this was a no-brainer choice for me.
What is the value for the money versus other options?
Henry Kvietok These have an incredible value for money compared to other options. When it comes to touring bindings, one could easily spend double the price of these. Yes, someone can save some weight or get other features, but this is a do-it-all pick at an affordable price.
What do you love about this product?
Henry Kvietok It's a solid yet lightweight do-it-all touring binding. I am confident using this binding in any conditions and any terrain I encounter. I also love the durability of the G3 Ion. For context, I snapped a pair of skis in half after a cliff drop, and these bindings survived. I re-mounted them on my next pair of skis. Talk about a durable product.
