The Curated Take
4.4/5
The Odyssey DFX 2-ball Putter is an excellent choice for golfers who frequently overshoot, due to its soft feel face insert which helps to decrease ball speed. It boasts a classic 2-ball design for easy alignment, though lacks a top line for perfect ball alignment. The oversized grip aids balance and feel, while the pistol grip may not suit everyone. Its superb weight distribution ensures a smooth and consistent swing, making it a high-value option at its price point. While its softer face reduces ball speed, golfers with distance control may find this feature less beneficial.
Ideal for
- Soft face insert is very forgiving
- Easy to align putt with the classic 2-ball design
- Great balance and very lightweight for the size of the putter head
Not ideal for
- May be too light for some people, causing putts to come up short
- Matte black design can scratch and show wear easier than chrome finish

Expert Reviews of the Odyssey DFX 2-Ball Putter
Lance Navin I really enjoyed testing this product. It has a good balance to it, and the soft face is very forgiving. I was drawn to this putter because I was overshooting the hole on most of my puts. This putter allowed me to hit the ball like I was, but with the softer face, it felt like it was decreasing my ball speed. This would be great for someone experiencing the same issues with their puts, but for someone with their distance already dialed in, it may be a con that it produces lower ball speeds. I also enjoyed the oversized grip, but the pistol grip felt too small for this putter and, to me, threw off the balance. The classic 2-ball design was very easy to align my puts while using, and the white on black design was easy to use on my eyes. Odyssey also includes a very nice head cover that holds up well to opening and closing the strap hole after hole.

Review Ratings
Forgiveness
5/5
Lance Navin gave 5 of 5 stars. This club is very forgiving, and I give the credit to the soft feel face insert. I always have had a problem hitting the ball too hard and blowing by the hole, but not anymore with this club. It has been a real score saver for me. With that in mind, for someone who is a soft putter already, this club may not be for you.
Alignment
4/5
Lance Navin gave 4 of 5 stars. I have always liked Odyssey's 2-ball design and the DFX line keeps that tradition alive. I do wish that there was a line on top of the white 2-ball design to allow for better alignment with the line mark on my golf balls. Don't get me wrong, the 2-ball design is still great for alignment but I gave it 4 stars because of missing that line.
Grip
4/5
Lance Navin gave 4 of 5 stars. I really enjoy the oversized Odyssey grip on this club, however I am not a fan of the pistol grip. The oversized grip gives a great balance and feel to the putter and really compliments it well. The pistol grip I feel is too small and throws off the balance and grip enough for me to lower the rating from 5 stars to 4 stars.
Feel
5/5
Lance Navin gave 5 of 5 stars. This club has the perfect weight distribution to it. The head, for the size that it is, does not feel heavy at all, and the swing is consistent, smooth, and forgiving. I don't think that you could find another club at this price point that has a better feel to it.
Balance
4/5
Lance Navin gave 4 of 5 stars. I think the oversized grip combined with this club head makes for a perfectly balanced club. I would have given this category a 5 star; however, with the pistol grip I feel like that balance is slightly off, so I adjusted accordingly. The balance with the oversized grip builds up more consistency with your swing and allows you to sink put after put.
FAQs
What was your favorite moment with this gear?
Lance Navin My favorite moment with this putter was the consistency in my puts. It is so easy to align with your ball that you can keep sinking the same puts over and over again. This really helped to build my confidence, and I am very happy with this putter.
Why did you choose this product?
Lance Navin I decided to get this putter because of the balance, the feel, and the forgiveness. I couldn't decide between this putter or the Odyssey DFX number 7, so I got both of them, and I have not been disappointed. The consistency and confidence this putter gives you is unmatched.
What is the value for the money versus other options?
Lance Navin I originally was not looking at the Odyssey DFX line when I was in the market for a new putter. I was looking at the TaylorMade Spiders and other similar mallet style putters. The DFX line was providing a better feel, smoother puts, more consistency, less weight---all of that packed into a better price. I do not think you can find a better putter at this price point.
What do you love about this product?
Lance Navin I love the balance and feel of this putter while swinging the club. I also like the head of the putter and how, even though it's larger compared to most putters, it doesn't feel too big and has a great weight distribution to it. The classic 2-ball design is easy to align as well.
