The Curated Take
4.7/5
The Orvis SuperStrong Plus Leaders are ideal for dry fly fishing, from beginners to experienced anglers. These monofilament leaders are near-invisible on water, ensuring stealthy presentations. They feature great knot strength for landing large fish, and their taper design ensures tight loops for precise casting. While not as abrasion-resistant as fluorocarbon, they are more budget-friendly and suitable for top-water applications. With easy-to-use loop to loop connections and a variety of sizes, they offer excellent value, ease of use, and versatility.

Expert Reviews of the Orvis SuperStrong™ Plus Leaders 2 Pack
Baily Dent Mono leaders are the way to go for those new to the sport of fly fishing because they are so budget friendly. The Orvis leaders come in two packs which offer a great value compared to other companies that sell them as single leaders. The loop to loop connection, that is pre tied on these, make them very easy to use and if you are new to the sport. There is even a diagram on the back of the packet and inside. These leaders are very strong, stay high and dry, and won't get wet and drag a dry fly down like fluorocarbon does. They are not as abrasion resistant as fluorocarbon, so they aren't the best choice for streamer fishing.
Joseph Smith Freshwater fly fishing anglers would use this leader for most fishing applications. Made to have a high retained knot strength, this leader is designed to not break under stress. Built with a knotless taper, this leader will excel at turning flies over for increased distance and accuracy with casts.

Sensitivity
5/5
Baily Dent gave 5 of 5 stars. These leaders are perfect for throwing even the tiniest of dry flies to the most discriminating trout. They have plenty of feel, and the taper on them produces tight loops to deliver your fly precisely in front of that feeding trout, with all the needed finesse to avoid spooking a weary fish.
Use Cases
5/5
Baily Dent gave 5 of 5 stars. The uses for these leaders are endless. They excel at the presentation of dry flies but are great budget friendly options for nymphing and streamer fishing as well for those just starting out. They are easy to use, beginner and budget friendly, but are still durable and sensitive enough for long standing anglers.
Durability
3/5
Baily Dent gave 3 of 5 stars. These leaders are perfect for the delicate presentation of dry flies but they are not my choice when fishing nymphs or streamer patterns as they are not as abrasion resistant. If this hangs up on a rock or tree, it is going to be more likely to break than fluorocarbon. But for any top water, dry fly action, this leader is going to be a great choice.
Visibility
5/5
Baily Dent gave 5 of 5 stars. The top reason why I choose to fish the SuperStrong Plus leaders when I am dry fly fishing is that they are almost completely invisible on the surface, and they don't hold water the way fluorocarbon will which causes my dry fly to sink. If the water is low and clear, or I need less visibility, I size down on the leader, and this is strong enough that I can get away with that and still play and land a very large fish.
Ease of Use
5/5
Baily Dent gave 5 of 5 stars. These leaders are tapered and pre tied with a loop to loop connection that makes changing them up easy. The packets also come with an included knot tying guide and a diagram to show you how to properly attach them, so you never forget and never end up with a cracked line due to improper leader instillation.
Knot Strength
5/5
Baily Dent gave 5 of 5 stars. These leaders have great knot strength, and you can fight and land even the biggest fish on these smaller diameter leaders without fear of knot failure or breakage. The knot on these has never failed me, and I have been fishing Orvis leaders exclusively for the past 3 years, and I fish almost daily, so that's a lot of awesome knots.
FAQs
What was your favorite moment with this gear?
Baily Dent I was fishing a limestone creek in central Virginia a few years ago. It's a very technical body of water to fish as it is quite wide and shallow, but then there are these channels about three feet wide that cut into the limestone. The trout sit on either side of these channels, so you have to cast right into the center of these small channels, and they will come out of nowhere and crush your fly. I was fishing this with a 5x super strong leader and a hopper dropper set up, when this pig of a rainbow came out of nowhere and slammed my fly. It was a 15 minute fight to land her, but the SuperStrong lived up to its name, and I was able to bring her to the net.
Why did you choose this product?
Baily Dent Orvis is known for its high quality gear, and their tackle like this SuperStrong leader lives up to that reputation. I also prefer Monofilament leaders when I am dry fly fishing, so that led to choosing this product.
What is the value for the money versus other options?
Baily Dent The Orvis super strong Leaders are a great deal compared to other similar offerings. Most companies like Scientific Anglers sell them individually for about $6 each, so this two pack is a great value. Compared to cheaper options like Courtland, these are far more durable and longer lasting.
What do you love about this product?
Baily Dent These Orvis Super Strong Leaders come in a two pack and are built out of high quality monofilament. These are great leaders for anyone on a budget, as they are almost entirely invisible on the surface of the water. They are also my choice whenever I am dry fly fishing, as they don't absorb water the way fluorocarbon will and won't drag my dry fly down. These come in a whole host of sizes, so that any species imaginable can be targeted on a fly rod. The tapered design of these leaders means they will cast tight loops and unfurl that fly with pin point accuracy in front of the quarry. The loop to loop connection makes attaching these leaders to the floating fly line extremely simple, and the packages even come with diagrams inside.
