The Curated Take
4.5/5
The Srixon Z-Star XV golf ball is excellent for golfers looking for a high-quality, performance ball at a reasonable price. It features a stamped alignment aid for lining up putts without marking the ball, impressive spin control, and a durable cover that resists scuffing. While its feel is slightly harder, it promotes better striking. Despite its lesser spin on greenside chips, it achieves great distance and precision, which is particularly beneficial for golfers with a strategic approach to their game.
Ideal for
- Strong height and distance on iron shots
- Long carry, low spin on driver
- Distance off the tee is great for swing speeds over 105mph
- Excellent spin; crisp wedge shots with this ball will hop and stop on the green
- Ball is very durable; it's not cut up or scuffed by the end of the round
Not ideal for
- Tends to be high ball flight on all shots
- May notice a slight drop in workability if used to high-performance balls
- May add half a club in distance on iron shots, may need to adjust
- Not as good in the wind as other balls
- Has a hard feel, so it makes a "clicking" sound on contact, which takes some getting used to

Expert Reviews of the Srixon Z-Star XV7 Limited Edition 24 Pack Golf Balls
Matthew W The Z-Star XV is ideal for players looking for a ball that performs like a ProV1 at a more affordable price. It performs very similarly to the ProV1, but I found a notable difference: they don't perform quite as well in the wind. The strong winds we have here in Texas seem to eat them up a bit more than ProV1s and TP5s. Otherwise, they perform very well, and the differences between them and ProV1s are negligible.
Joe Mallock This ball is designed for players who get to the tee box and consider placing a 3-wood out there 250 yards or smashing the driver 280 yards. It's for the player that knows that a 96-yard approach to a front pin and a 99-yard approach to a back pin requires a different trajectory shot.
As a golfer with an 8.1 index, I try to play a very conscious and calculated brand of golf. I have used all of the premium balls, like the Titleist ProV1, TaylorMade TP5, and Callaway Chrome Soft. I never thought about trying the premium Srixon ball, though, and once I tried the Srixon Z-Star XV, I fell in love.
The Srixon Z-Star XV delivers excellent distance and spin control from tee to green, plus it's a fair bit less expensive than the other premium brands. It was a no-brainer for my game and my wallet to switch to playing the Srixon Z-Star XV golf ball.
Bill S Played this ball for the first time to compare it to the Pro V1. What a great golf ball! I noticed at least a half club in length with extremely high launch ball flight. It has a super soft feel around greens and can control wedges just like a high-performing tour ball. If someone is looking for a high-launch long ball that maximizes distance but remains soft and true around the greens, this ball is for them.

Alignment
5/5
Joe Mallock gave 5 of 5 stars. The side of the ball is stamped with "Z-Star XV," with an arrow on each side pointing in the opposite direction. I like to line up my putts using an arrow, but I don't always want to draw marks on the ball, so this golf ball is perfect. I don't have to draw all over it, and I can easily hit my putts on line.
Spin
5/5
Joe Mallock gave 5 of 5 stars. I can get great spin with the Srixon Z-Star XV. When I was behind a tree, I could bend my 4-iron around the low-hanging branches and back into the fairway. And when I was in striking distance, my 8-iron got a little zip back towards the hole once it landed on the green.
Feel
3/5
Joe Mallock gave 3 of 5 stars. I prefer a ball with a softer feel, and the Srixon Z-Star XV ball took me a little getting used to. I didn't notice it as much with the driver, but my irons and wedges make a clicking sound at impact with this ball. Only when I flush my irons right in the middle of the clubface does that clicking sound become a softer thud. I guess the lesson is that I need to become a better ball striker.
Durability
5/5
Joe Mallock gave 5 of 5 stars. One of my biggest complaints about some of the other performance balls is that when I hit a crisp wedge, sometimes it cuts up the cover of the ball or leaves a little piece of the cover dangling off the ball. The Srixon Z-Star XV ball does not have this issue, which I really appreciate. I can play the whole round without changing my ball.
Distance
5/5
Joe Mallock gave 5 of 5 stars. I like the distance I get with the Srixon Z-Star XV balls a lot. Sometimes my driver balloons, resulting in a serious loss of distance. But when I played, I had some holes where the wind was in my face, but I could keep my drives low and with a penetrating ball flight. The confidence to hit the driver far and in play is an important part of scoring well for me.
Greenside Spin
4/5
Joe Mallock gave 4 of 5 stars. A couple of times, I could get some check on my greenside chips and pitches. But, it's less check than I might get with another performance ball. Once I figured out how much spin I could expect, I just landed the ball a little further from the hole and let it run out a bit more.
FAQs
What was your favorite moment with this gear?
Joe Mallock My favorite moment with the Srixon Z-Star XV golf ball was over the weekend when I played a match with my buddies. Everyone showed each other their ball on the first hole, and all three guys were playing Titleist balls, either ProV1 or ProV1x. They chirped, "Dude, why don't you just play a Titleist or TaylorMade or something?"
Well, I was driving it further all day, hitting sharp wedge shots and making putts. At the end of the round, one of my friends asked me to show him what ball I was playing so he could take a picture and buy a box for himself. That was a great moment.
Why did you choose this product?
Joe Mallock I never gave Srixon much thought, but then I saw that Brooks Koepka plays Srixon irons. That caught my interest, so I started looking into Srixon products. I noticed that Srixon's top-end balls, the Z-Star and Z-Star XV, are significantly less expensive than Titleist, Callaway, and TaylorMade balls, especially in the 24-pack.
I chose the Srixon Z-Star XV balls for the price. I continue to use them because of their quality.
What is the value for the money versus other options?
Joe Mallock The value is why I love the Srixon Z-Star XV balls so much. A dozen balls from the best-known brands cost around $50. But, in this 24-pack, the Srixon Z-Star XV balls come out to approximately $32.50. I love a great deal, especially since I think the Srixon balls are just as responsive and dynamic as the Titleist ProV1x balls.
What do you love about this product?
Joe Mallock I love the Srixon Z-Star XV because I feel like I get great distance off the tee. I naturally hit a cut, which can sometimes become a slice when I overdo it. But, with the driver, this ball tends to fly straighter, which I appreciate to help prevent big misses.
And with my irons and wedges, I love the stopping power I get with this ball. I feel confident that a crisp shot will hop and stop on the green, making it easier for me to attack pins.
