Expert Reviews of the Srixon ZX7 Irons

Evan Mendyk The Srixon ZX7 irons are a great set for low-handicap players looking for forgiveness and workability. I am blown away by the performance. These clubs look great and have a slim look but also have forgiveness. The ability to work the ball is great with these irons, and I have found myself playing many different shots with each club. This set is great for players who want a clean look in the short and mid irons and forgiveness in the long irons without sacrificing the slim look. The forged feeling of these irons is solid and makes these clubs feel premium. Overall this is a great set for high-level players who want a great look, feel, and performance from every club in this set.
ZX7 irons are best for the low-handicap golfer looking for an incredible feel, classic looks, minimal offset, sleek design, and workability on any style golf course. I've owned my Srixon ZX7 irons for more than two years now. They still look and feel as good as the day I bought them. I don't get to play often anymore, but every time I get out on the course, I know I can score! Last time out, I hadn't played in four months and shot 75 (one under on the back side). I have 100% confidence with every iron in my bag when I grab it on a par 3 or any approach shot. The launch is outstanding, and I never question my carry distance over a hazard or the soft landing I will get when it hits next to the pin. Every iron performs at the highest possible level, from my 5-iron down to my approach/gap wedge. I can't wait to return to tournament golf with these irons in my bag. I am sure I will be able to compete with the best of the best!
Michael V Srixon ZX7 irons are for competitive and lower handicap golfers who prefer a thin top line and sole in a compact clubhead—offering a lower ball flight than some of their competitors, making it easy to control launch and spin rates. They're a popular choice on tour, offering great shot dispersion.
The Srixon ZX7 irons are a great iron set for a low-handicap golfer. Srixon is truly making amazing irons these days. This iron set is considered to be their players' type. With a small cavity back, it still overs some forgiveness while having good workability. I would only recommend this iron set to a single-digit handicapped golfer. The Srixon ZX5 irons would be a much better option for a mid-handicap golfer.
This product is an excellent fit for a low handicapper. If one needs to be able to work the ball but still wants to have some forgiveness, then these irons are a great fit. I find that these allow me to not be perfect on every shot and still have good results.
The Srixon ZX7 iron set is a players' iron for the low handicapper seeking out feel. The forgiveness of a cavity back is captured into a forged head without the intimidating look of a blade and designed to maximize consistency in distances. The set also looks amazing from the top. Now that a new version has been released in 2023, the ZX7 offers a more affordable set than top-market irons.

Review Ratings

Workability

4/5
Evan Mendyk gave 4 of 5 stars. The Srixon ZX7 irons have a compact look and can hit every shot I need. The V-sole technology on these irons helps with face manipulation at address, allowing the club to sit tight to the ground even when the face is open or closed. Height and distance control are great with these irons, and I find myself hitting a lot of knockdown shots when needed to control distance and shot shape.

Forgiveness

3/5
Evan Mendyk gave 3 of 5 stars. The Srixon ZX7 irons provide amazing forgiveness for more advanced players looking for a sleek look and performance. Mishits from slightly off-center still perform well and carry a similar yardage as a well-struck shot. These irons are not as forgiving for players who struggle with striking, such as hitting the ball fat or thin. Overall, I think these irons are amazing for great ball strikers who want a little extra help.

Feel

4/5
Evan Mendyk gave 4 of 5 stars. The Srixon ZX7s are great-feeling players' irons. These clubs feel solid at impact, and I get a premium feel that I expect from a forged iron. These irons are not the softest feeling I have ever hit, but they provide a firm and solid feel at impact.

Sound

5/5
Evan Mendyk gave 5 of 5 stars. The Srixon ZX7 irons have a number of characteristics that influence sound. These clubs have a great feel from the forging; the same goes for sound. These irons sound solid at impact and have a crisp sound when struck. One thing I really like about the sound of these irons is that I can hear when I haven’t struck a shot at my best, even when I may not feel it.

Launch

4/5
Evan Mendyk gave 4 of 5 stars. The Srixon ZX7 irons are a smaller cavity back iron, providing forgiveness in a players' look. These clubs have a forward flight which is great for spin control and dispersion. These irons are very workable, and the launch can be easily changed with manipulation to the clubface and swing.

Distance

3/5
Evan Mendyk gave 3 of 5 stars. The Srixon ZX7 irons are not necessarily built for distance and are definitely not short. When I first began playing these irons, I did not see a distance drop-off from clubs in a similar category. I have been pleased with the distance of these irons, but distance alone is not their strongest feature. I think the Srixon ZX7 irons do a great job of maintaining distance while excelling in other categories.

FAQs

What was your favorite moment with this gear?

Evan Mendyk My favorite moment with the Srixon ZX7 irons was a hole out for eagle on a par 4. I had 158 yards from the fairway and slam dunked my second shot for eagle with a 9-iron.

Why did you choose this product?

Evan Mendyk I chose the Srixon ZX7 irons for many reasons. Their thin top line and rounded look sit squarely and easily align with my target. I really enjoy the turf interaction from the V-shaped sole, which allows for easy entry and exit for all clubs. The premium forged feel impressed me when I tested these irons. I wanted a set of irons with a thin look that I could play even in the long irons. The forgiveness of these irons in a compact shape is ultimately why I chose to buy these irons.

What is the value for the money versus other options?

Evan Mendyk The Srixon ZX7 irons have great value for their price and performance. I think these irons are one of the best on the market but are not priced as high as other top manufacturers. These clubs provide some of the best performances for their price point.

What do you love about this product?

Evan Mendyk I love the look and feel of the Srixon ZX7 irons. These irons are compact and have a players' look but also provide great forgiveness on mishits.
