The Curated Take

4.3/5

The Flylow Men's Firebird Bib Pants are ideal for advanced skiers who engage in both uphill and downhill skiing. Their high-quality materials and reinforced seams ensure durability in demanding skiing and snowboarding conditions. The pants feature waterproof and breathable fabric, keeping riders dry and comfortable while allowing moisture to escape. Articulated knees provide natural motion and flexibility. However, they are not the most fitted through the lower legs and could benefit from more ventilation. Their slightly bulkier fit might impact mobility or layering options, but overall, they are a strong choice for skiers seeking comfort, adjustability, and a stylish design.

Expert Reviews of the Flylow Men's Firebird Bib Pants

The Flylow Men's Firebird bibs are top-of-the-line ski pants for more advanced skiers. I can wear these pants on traditional downhill resort days or off-resort touring/uphill. They offer comfy over-the-shoulder straps and a nice rear mesh for breathability and comfort. The outer material of the bib is durable, waterproof, and stylish. The bottom of the pant legs are less fitted than I hoped, but they offer adjustable bottoms to tighten near boots. Overall, I recommend these pants to someone who wants a versatile, long-lasting ski bib.
The bib design provides added protection and coverage, keeping snow out and ensuring a secure fit. It also helps to keep a rider's core warm on cold days and provides additional storage options with multiple pockets. They include adjustable waist tabs and suspenders, allowing riders to customize the fit for optimal comfort and mobility. The bib also comes with features like inner and outer thigh vents for ventilation so riders can regulate temperature, reinforced cuffs for added durability, and gaiters to help further seal out snow. This bib can handle any conditions and is suitable for riders looking for comfort and versatility.

Ease of Movement

5/5
gave 5 of 5 stars. These bibs aren't too baggy or tight, so they move well during the ski day. They never tug or pull in anyways. Not having a waistband takes a bit of getting used to. Still, the comfort and lack of material around the waist make these bibs super comfortable.
gave 4 of 5 stars. Even though these bibs are comfy and a little baggy, they do not constrict riders' mobility. I have been able to do a range of tricks in the park in these pants and weave through tree runs. Some people may prefer a more form-fitting option, but these bibs should not restrict riders' performance.

Breathability

4/5
gave 4 of 5 stars. The Firebird bib has all the ventilation needed to air out when skiing hard or on a warm day. The pants include leg vents, rear mesh, and material that breathes fairly well. Unlike some bib materials, the Firebird allows air to pass through, so I feel fresh and cool while moving down the mountain.
gave 4 of 5 stars. The fabric these bibs are made out of helps enhance the breathability so riders do not overheat on hot days. The inner and outer thigh vents allow riders to regulate how much wind can enter the bib, and the membrane is designed so that sweat and excess heat can escape.

Comfort

5/5
gave 5 of 5 stars. The over-the-shoulder straps are super comfortable on these bibs. They stay up where they are supposed to and fit well. I always feel comfortable in these bibs and can adjust if the fit feels weird. The back is lined with mesh, allowing breathability and reducing the bib's weight.
gave 5 of 5 stars. These pants are comfortable for a whole day of riding. The nice thing about bibs is that riders do not have to worry about snow potentially getting inside their pants in deep snow. There are a lot of features that enhance the adjustability of these bibs and allow riders to fine-tune how they fit.

Warmth

4/5
gave 3 of 5 stars. These bibs are just a shell, so one will need long underwear and other layers underneath. This is normal for shell outerwear and allows everyone to layer differently. If layered properly, I can wear them on cold days or spring skiing with all the vents open. The versatility to layer under bibs is great compared to insulated pants.
gave 4 of 5 stars. While these bibs are warm enough to feel comfortable in the backcountry in a winter storm, they are not so warm that they leave riders sweating and clammy during high-intensity activities. I have worn these bibs in the peak of winter during heavy snow storms and spring, and they never disappointed me.

Durability

4/5
gave 4 of 5 stars. The material used to construct the bibs is high quality. While it is not the thickest material, it holds up well and creates a lighter-weight option. The material around the bottom of the pants is thick and durable, so ski edges don't cut them. After a season of abuse, these pants still look like new.
gave 4 of 5 stars. The Firebird bib has proven to be a durable product so far. I have ridden with these pants for a whole season, and they don't show much wear. I have also nicked a few trees while wearing these bibs and could walk away without any tears or stains.

Waterproofing

4/5
gave 4 of 5 stars. The waterproofing on these bibs is really solid. They sometimes soak up moisture, but it does not seep into the pant. I skied these in snow, sleet, rain, etc., and never had an issue with getting wet. Overall a good option for the majority of the days on the mountain.
gave 4 of 5 stars. These bibs are waterproof, which makes them versatile for a wide range of potential winter conditions. I have even worn these in the rain at the end of the season, and they did not soak through, so they have pretty good waterproofing compared to other products currently on the market.

FAQs

What was your favorite moment with this gear?

My favorite moment wearing these bibs was skiing three feet of powder in Jackson Hole and never worrying about the snow melting through them or getting inside. They kept me protected from the elements while looking stylish.
My favorite moment in this gear was late-season hiking in the park. These kept me warm while I wore only a T-shirt under and didn't restrict mobility like some other bibs.

Why did you choose this product?

I chose this product because of the fit and purpose they serve. They aren't overly baggy and fit well enough to move comfortably in all types of skiing. I ski both on the resort and backcountry and find these pants serve both applications well. Also, the simple design of these bibs was appealing.
I chose this product because it was on sale at a local shop and I liked all the pockets. I bring snacks on the mountain, so the more pockets, the better, from my point of view.

What do you love about this product?

I love the style and simplicity of Flylow bibs. The Firebird checks all the boxes for a skier who wants to ride the resort, backcountry, or anywhere between. The material is light but durable and withstands daily abuse on the hill.
My favorite part about this product is all the pockets. I also really like the suspenders because they allow riders to adjust the height of the pants well.
