The Curated Take

4.7/5

The Cobra Aerojet LS Driver is excellent for advanced players with high swing speeds, offering excellent workability, a solid feel, and a responsive H.O.T. (Highly Optimized Topology) face. It facilitates easy draws or fades, ensuring full control over direction even when slightly off the sweet spot. The driver features an adjustable hosel and weight settings for personalized tuning. With its unique aerodynamic shape and PWR Bridge, the driver promises increased ball speeds and better control over spin rates. The club provides a distinct feel and sound upon impact and an appreciable launch due to its adjustable hosel. Despite its advanced features, it is priced competitively compared to other major brands.

Expert Reviews of the Cobra Aerojet LS Driver

The Aerojet LS Driver is one of if not the best-performing drivers of 2023. It offers an amazing look, feel, and sound. Higher swing speed players and players looking to reduce spin rates off their driver will find unmatched carry and total numbers in ideal spin rates with amazing forgiveness for off-center strikes. The driver has held its own in multiple test windows and beat the Stealth 2, Paradym, TSR, etc. The slightly lower retail cost helps make this driver a no brainier for someone looking for quality and performance. The limited edition heads are also an added plus, with a Palm Tree Crew head, a 50th-anniversary head, and a Volition head in the marketplace. Don't sleep on Cobra anymore; they are showing they are here to compete and are building their name for years to come as a member of the "Big 3."
Anthony Pragano This driver is designed for the more advanced player with higher swing speeds. This driver is fun to hit if I can hit the sweet spot most of the time. It's not made for beginners or more moderate swing speeds; other models are available for those players. The carbon fiber on the club's crown looks sharp and gives me a lift of confidence looking down at it at address. This club is seriously long and well-built. The feel is smooth and fast. I like the feel of the ball coming off the clubface. It feels buttery and under control.

Workability

5/5
gave 5 of 5 stars. I found the club easy to hit a draw or fade when needed; it didn't take much effort. The technology of the club worked well with my swing. The H.O.T. (Highly Optimized Topology) face seemed to shine when trying to work the ball. I could control the club, and even if I missed the sweet spot a bit, the ball could still go in the intended direction.
Anthony Pragano gave 5 of 5 stars. This driver allows drawing a fade and punching the golf ball relatively easily. Players have full control and can expect increased confidence when playing this head. One can set it for a fade or draw based on hosel or weight settings. It gives each player the ability to tune it to their needs.

Forgiveness

4/5
gave 4 of 5 stars. The LS driver is made for the advanced player. There is forgiveness but from the perspective of the advanced player. The sweet spot is smaller than other drivers. I mishit the club a few times but did not feel penalized badly for it. The club still provided me with some forgiveness.

Feel

5/5
gave 4 of 5 stars. I was impressed by how solid the club felt during the swing. I didn't feel any whippiness, which I don't like in any club. It is lightweight and does not feel cheap. It feels like a well-made club, allowing me to swing as hard as I wanted at the ball. I looked forward to hitting the club, which gave me great confidence when approaching the tee box.
Anthony Pragano gave 5 of 5 stars. I can feel the ball coming off the face, and it feels fast. The driver has the Everlast technology on the face, so I can see where the impact is on each strike, and it wipes off easily.

Sound

4/5
gave 3 of 5 stars. The sound was neutral to me. While I've had other drivers that were fun to hit, and the sound enhanced the experience, this driver was neither inspiring nor negative, just neutral. It wasn't too loud or too metallic like a can. I guess I'm used to much louder sounds from other drivers. But again, this is a personal preference. The club overall was sure fun to hit, though.
Anthony Pragano gave 5 of 5 stars. The sound is crisp and clean, and I know when I flush it by how it sounds off the face. It's like music to my ears. Cobra got away from that dead, muted sound and didn’t make it loud and cringe-worthy. This driver just has a great pitch, and I can hear it when I stripe one.

Launch

5/5
gave 4 of 5 stars. The driver has an adjustable hosel that can go +/- 1.5 degrees. It's a nice option on those days when weather conditions can affect one's golf game. The launch of this club is made to be low for the more advanced player. I did not see any shots get that high in the air. This club allowed for a lot of roll on a dry fairway; I was not used to seeing so much roll. I'll take the extra yards, no problem.
Anthony Pragano gave 5 of 5 stars. Spin rate and launch are perfect for higher swing speed players looking for a driver that won’t balloon on them. The Aerojet LS offers an adjustable hosel and front weighting system in a lower spinning head—one that can go from 7.5-10.5 or 9-12 degrees in their two loft models.

Distance

5/5
gave 4 of 5 stars. Cobra advertises this club to get a lot of distance. I believe it. This club hits the ball pretty far when matched with the proper shaft for one's game. I noticed an average clubhead speed increase of two miles an hour, about 6-8 yards for me. The adjustable hosel also helped if I wanted to hit the ball low and see more roll.
Anthony Pragano gave 5 of 5 stars. This is the longest Cobra driver I’ve hit in the last 12 years. Increased ball speed and better-controlled spin rates help make this possible. Players of all walks of life and speeds will benefit from the Cobra Aerojet line. The LS model is geared for higher swing speed players needing a lower spinning head.

FAQs

What was your favorite moment with this gear?

I was on hole 16, a par 5, and I had a choice to go over the water with a 245-yard carry or go left and add extra yardage by going around the water. If I went over, I knew I would have the opportunity to get there in two. If I went around, I would have to get there in three. I decided to go for it. As a golf professional and teacher, I always tell my students to stick with it and execute it once they make a decision. Trouble starts to cloud someone's mind when they're in doubt. So I took my advice and just told myself to go for it. I hit the Cobra driver pretty well that day, so I had some confidence. I stuck to my pre-shot routine, and the practice swing felt good. I got ready, looked at my target, and just swang the club as I had been doing all day. As I hit it, I knew I missed the sweet spot a bit as the feedback from impact came back to me. But I did hit the ball high, and that height saved my shot. As I watched the ball climb, I noticed that there was a breeze coming in from behind me (a little nod to the golf gods), and I saw the ball clear the water. How much the wind helped me on that shot, I won't ever know. However, I know I made it over, and a big smile covered my face. The other players looked at me and said, "Some luck is better than no luck," and we all just chuckled. I missed the eagle putt but got the birdie. Life was good.

Why did you choose this product?

I read many good reviews on this Cobra driver and wanted to see how it performed. I wanted to find a lightweight driver built solidly because I like going after the ball with a fast swing. If the club is whippy, then I don't do well with it. This club was not whippy; it felt in synch with my swing without much effort. I also liked all the technology that Cobra included in this club. PWR Bridge, H.O.T. Face, and PWRShell were designed to help get as much speed as possible into the driver. I have used Cobra products in the past, but I really wanted to see where the company was at this time, and they seem to be heading in a good direction. This driver has a quality feel, and I feel confident at address.
Anthony Pragano I chose this product after using Cobra products for years. With the huge step in the right direction with last year's LTDx driver, I was anxious to see what the Aerojet brought to the table. And what it brought was unmatched in my eyes by any other driver of 2023. The feel, the sound, the ball speed, the jump, and the value are huge driving forces behind this product.

What is the value for the money versus other options?

The Cobra Aerojet LS driver costs less than its main competitors from other companies. For that, the value of this driver is quite good. This club will compete with any other driver in the market. Whether someone buys it or not is a personal decision. But this club will compete to be in their golf bag. The technology, the carbon fiber crown, and the shafts are all top materials. Saving money doesn't hurt my feelings. This club is basically $50 less than some of the other drivers, and it doesn't feel any less of a driver than the others. It felt good in my hands, and I got to after the ball as hard as I wanted, knowing that the club would perform.
Anthony Pragano The value for the money is much better than the other "Big 3" brands. The Stealth 2, TSR, and Paradym are $50-100 cheaper to start, allowing the consumer to add an aftermarket shaft if needed. Cobra made this driver with an “exotic” shaft. It's the same retail price as the others (or even cheaper) when one adds an aftermarket shaft to their driver's head.

What do you love about this product?

I love the way the carbon fiber crown looks at address. The alignment aid is subtle yet useful at setup, inspiring confidence for me. The driver is also very light. Some drivers are light and then "whippy" to me. With this driver, I can go at the ball as hard as I want, and it feels solid throughout the entire swing. This driver is made for the advanced player and, thus, is not as forgiving as other drivers; it's not supposed to be. One gets a low-spinning shot that can be worked left or right and controlled. I don't feel like the driver gets away from me; I feel the driver will do what I ask it to do during the swing.
Anthony Pragano This is the best driver I’ve played in 12 years. From the unmatched sound and feel, this driver blew me away. Cobra has been making Tour-caliber equipment for years. Now they are making it known, and the everyday golfer benefits.
