The Curated Take

4.7/5

The Cobra Radspeed Driver is a game-changing club that offers golfers an exceptional combination of power, forgiveness, and customization options. With its striking design, innovative technology, and impressive performance, this driver has the potential to revolutionize your game off the tee.

One of the standout features of the Radspeed Driver is its advanced construction. The high-strength T-Bar Speed Chassis and the thin, forged face work together to maximize ball speed and distance, even on off-center hits. The driver's Radial Weighting system strategically positions weight around the clubhead, optimizing stability and forgiveness. This ensures that even on mishits, you can still achieve respectable distance and accuracy.

The adjustability of the Radspeed Driver is another highlight. The MyFly hosel allows for easy loft adjustments, enabling golfers to fine-tune their launch conditions for optimal trajectory and shot shape. The driver also features Cobra Connect, which seamlessly integrates with the Arccos Caddie app, providing valuable shot data and performance insights to help you analyze and improve your game.

In terms of performance, the Radspeed Driver delivers exceptional results. The optimized aerodynamics reduce drag, enabling greater clubhead speed and explosive drives. The sound and feel at impact are satisfying, providing a sense of confidence and connection with the club.

While the Cobra Radspeed Driver may come at a higher price point, its performance, forgiveness, and customization options make it well worth the investment. If you're looking to enhance your distance, accuracy, and overall performance off the tee, this driver is definitely worth considering

Expert Reviews of the Cobra King Radspeed XB Driver

Alan Gregory As a mid-handicap golfer with good swing speed (105+mph), I've always struggled with consistent driving. The Cobra Radspeed XB (Xtreme Back) driver, with the Project X Hzrdus RDX Blue shaft, has given me a forgiving club with great distance potential. It looks and sounds great, and when I put a decent swing on the ball, the flight is mid-high and penetrating (mid to low spin). I have the red/peacoat blue model, which looks amazing. I also really like the look of the CNC-milled Infinity Face; it's quite unique. Over the past year, I have grown to trust this club, and it's become the best weapon in my bag. I'm averaging around 270 yards and have topped 300 on optimal-condition drives. The Radspeed XB driver is a great value for the money. The only small drawback would be that the 460cc head and high moment of inertia (MOI), which makes the head resistant to twisting, may not be the most workable option for highly skilled golfers. However, if a golfer is like me and wants something easy to hit and forgiving, I recommend this club.
Ari T The Cobra Radspeed XB is one of the best low-spin drivers on the market for a lower price. Weight is in the back for a lower spin. Very long. Very forgiving. There is no real downside to this driver unless one needs more spin. It has a great feel and sound. Cobra has some of the best face technology. Great driver overall, long and easy to hit.
Bobby Funkhouser The Cobra King Radspeed XB driver is a great option for any golfer who wants a forgiving driver. Even a low-handicap golfer struggling to hit fairways would benefit from this driver. Very forgiving and will help anyone struggling with a slice off the tee box.
Vincent P. This is one of the best drivers on the market from 2021. Due to its compact nature, this driver is lower-spinning and more workable. In addition, it is rather lightweight. However, it hits far and is very workable. As a result, this driver is the best fit for more advanced players who want that added feel and decreased spin rates to improve their drives. This would not be good for the new or high handicap player.

Review Ratings

Workability

4/5
Alan Gregory gave 4 of 5 stars. The Cobra Radspeed XB (Xtreme Back) driver is the more forgiving version of the standard Radspeed model. As such, its design characteristics promote a straight flight. The XB isn't the choice for more advanced ball strikers looking for the ability to shape their ball flight. I will say that I can hit fades and draws, but it’s harder to do as the XB really wants to go straight.

Forgiveness

5/5
Alan Gregory gave 5 of 5 stars. The Cobra Radspeed XB is the more forgiving yet lower spin cousin than the standard Radspeed driver. XB stands for “Xtreme Back,” which refers to the center of gravity (CG) being low and back. The radial weighting creates a very high moment of inertia (MOI), which minimizes face twisting on off-center hits.

Feel

5/5
Alan Gregory gave 5 of 5 stars. For most players, “feel” is the combination of feel and the sound of the driver when struck. For me, the Cobra Radspeed XB delivers on both fronts. The CNC-milled Infinity Face provides a feeling of “soft power” when centered, while strikes around the sweet spot offer less harsh feedback. The sound the club makes is a powerful “thwunk” that is neither tinny nor hollow sounding. I personally love the feel of this driver.

Sound

4/5
Alan Gregory gave 4 of 5 stars. Sound is a very personal characteristic when it comes to drivers. If golfers like a more muted, solid-sounding "thwunk" when they tee off, the Cobra Radspeed XB will be a good choice. The driver sounds great when centered and not too harsh when I miss the sweet spot on the toe.

Launch

5/5
Alan Gregory gave 5 of 5 stars. The Cobra Radspeed XB (Xtreme Back) is designed to launch the ball and have it go straight with a controlled spin. The launch angle combined with a lower spin means controllable bombs, which is one of the things I love about this driver. The weighting, being low and back, ensures optimal launch and spin.

Distance

5/5
Alan Gregory gave 5 of 5 stars. The Cobra Radspeed XB provides a powerful feeling CNC Infinity Face that combines the low and back center of gravity to generate excellent ball speeds across the face, which combine with a high launch window and lowish spin that has me consistently hitting drives over 270, with the occasional 300+ bomb.

FAQs

What was your favorite moment with this gear?

Alan Gregory At my home course, hole #11 is a 310-yard par 4, slightly downhill. I average over 270 yards with my Cobra Radspeed XB driver but typically pump out around 10 drives a year that exceed 300 yards. As a 56-year-old 14 handicapper, every time I connect on one of those bombs, it fills me with joy. I've always wanted to drive hole #11, but the perfect drive had eluded me until one evening in the summer of 2022. The planets aligned, and the golf Gods smiled upon me, and I hit a mid-trajectory bullet straight at the center of the green. I was elated when I walked up and saw it sitting 30 feet from the hole. (Please don't ask me if I made the eagle putt.)

Why did you choose this product?

Alan Gregory The Cobra Radspeed XB driver became my off-the-tee weapon of choice after testing the standard Radspeed model and the Tour Edge c722 drivers. The Cobra XB driver provided the forgiveness of the Tour Edge with the optimal launch and spin characteristics of the standard Radspeed driver. It’s such a good-looking and balanced driver, and it’s my favorite club in the bag.

What is the value for the money versus other options?

Alan Gregory At this point, the Cobra Radspeed XB driver is three generations old. Still, it features many pieces of technology (radial weighting, CNC-milled Infinity Face) that enable it to perform very well against the LTDx and Aerojet models while costing less than $200. It is an incredible value for the money, and I haven’t even considered upgrading to the newer models because my XB driver is so good.

What do you love about this product?

Alan Gregory The Cobra Radspeed XB driver offers looks and performance at a great price, and it's my favorite club to hit. The peacoat blue and red colorway and the matte crown are stunning. Of course, the XB (Xtreme Back) driver isn't just good-looking; it provides a combination of forgiveness and moderately low spin that has me hitting fairways and averaging over 270 yards per drive. I see myself gaming this driver for many years to come.
