The Curated Take

4.6/5

The Cobra Supernova putter is ideal for golfers with a straight or arced putting stroke. Leveraging 3D printing and SIK face technology, it provides consistent 1.5-degree launch angles for varied attack types. Tungsten weighting offers forgiveness on off-center hits. Its design aids in alignment, reducing mishits. The pre-installed Golf Pride grip suits most, though alternatives exist. Its 3D construction delivers unparalleled softness and stability compared to milled putters. With optimal weight distribution, it's well-balanced, increasing precision in every putt.

Expert Reviews of the Cobra King 3D Printed Supernova Black Putters

This putter is great for the golfer with a straight back and forward putting stroke. The grip is oversized and comes with the Arccos sensor already in the putter. This putter is extremely well-balanced and weighted perfectly. Contact off the face is soft yet provides the perfect roll with Cobra's SIK Face Technology that incorporates a multi-angle face that helps prevent mishit puts. The open fang design gives golfers a great view of the center mark and makes it extremely easy to line up their put.
Anthony Pragano The Supernova putter is a super stable 3D printed putter that uses the SIK Face Technology and has a descending loft setup down the putter face from 4, 3, 2, 1. What this does is help to ensure the putter will work for any player regardless of if they are neutral, negative, or positive attack angles, making sure the putter launches at the same 1.5-degree angle. Since it is 3D printed, Cobra put the weight where needed to make the putter feel extremely stable. This line of putters is incredible and will change the putting game for any player who picks one up.
The Cobra Supernova is a putter packed with technology, including tungsten weighting, to make it forgiving on off-center strikes. I first tested the putter's speed with some lag putts from 25-40ft and deliberately hit putts out of the toe and heel. I was extremely impressed that my speed of putts still remained very similar to putts out of the middle of the face. The SIK putter face is incredible as it has different lofts across the face to make the ball roll more consistent, regardless of whether my angle of attack is neutral, ascending, or descending. The putter is offered with three different hosels. I tested and bought the Supernova as I have a more straight back and forward putter swing, but for those with a slight arc, try the Supernova 20. Those with a stronger arc should try the Supernova 30, which has different hosels to suit those swings. I loved the alignment aid on the putter and found it very easy to line up my short putts, and I really liked the feel of the putter face. I could feel it when I didn't make perfect contact with the ball, which was nice feedback. Hard to find a putter that is more forgiving than the Supernova. Highly recommend it.

Review Ratings

Forgiveness

5/5
Anthony Pragano gave 5 of 5 stars. With the supernova sporting the descending loft face from SIK, this putter offers more forgiveness for players as it gets the ball rolling and keeps the loft working in a player with any descent angle stroke. This putter helps to eliminate as much bouncing and skidding as possible.

Alignment

5/5
Anthony Pragano gave 5 of 5 stars. This putter sits extremely squared when put to rest on a green. The alignment aid is very nice and helps players with the fang-style shape of the putter. The Cobra King is a good putter option to help golfers struggling with alignment.

Grip

4/5
Anthony Pragano gave 4 of 5 stars. The stock Cobra custom logo SuperStroke is the middle-of-the-road size pre-installed at no additional charge. Some players may not like that and spring for the upcharge and get a size and shape they prefer more. At the moment, Cobra does not have all the SuperStroke options available, so if someone doesn’t see the one they like, it is easier to get it after the fact.

Feel

5/5
Anthony Pragano gave 5 of 5 stars. The 3D-printed cartridge allowed Cobra to discretionarily weight the putter where it needed to be, helping to increase the feel and weight in the player's hands. This putter face, even though it's at a lower price point, also feels better and softer, in my opinion, than any premium milled putter on the market.

Balance

4/5
Anthony Pragano gave 4 of 5 stars. The putter is weighted exactly where it needs to be. The non-moveable tungsten weights are placed where they need to be to ensure the putter is stable. I had messed around with lead tape on mine to see if it needed it, but the putter worked very well without the additional weight.

FAQs

What was your favorite moment with this gear?

Anthony Pragano My favorite moment with this putter was pre-release testing. I got to see and feel a newer shape that Cobra had made. And advancing their use of 3D printing material was amazing. The putter is weighted perfectly, and the feel is super stable. It didn’t hurt that I couldn’t miss with the putter.

What is the value for the money versus other options?

Anthony Pragano The value for the money on this putter is extremely worth it. The fact that Cobra has 3D printed most of the putter head to make it stable and weighted where needed is incredible—not to mention the use of the SIK putter face with descending loft. This putter rolls beautifully and launches for a player with any putter attack angle, whether steep, shallow, or neutral. The black finish makes this putter look as great as it feels.

What do you love about this product?

Anthony Pragano In a sunny state like Florida, where I play mostly, the putter gives me a premium black finish that looks shiny but provides no glare when on the course. It gives me the SIK face defending loft, helping me better use my speed and roll to make more putts. And now Cobra offers custom grip length and lie options. It's cheaper than buying a putter from SIK.

I have been golfing since I was a kid. My dad always told me it is a sport that you can play for as long as you want, young to old. I found a passion for the sport learning all I could from lessons (before YouTube) and scratch golfers in my local area I competed in varsity golf in High School. During and after High School I worked at a local golf course. While at the golf course I helped manage golf tournaments and worked in the Pro Shop. There I learned valuable personal skills and how to serve customers. Learning the brands and accessories was very helpful in giving new customers advice and helping them select new golf equipment. Outside of family time and working with my kids on golfing, I play golf every week. I am constantly tweaking my golf game to help improve my overall golf game. I test as many new clubs and brands upon release as I can to help myself and others with recommendations.

I've been a diehard sports fan my entire life. Soccer was my first real passion, Golf then came after and my obsession for teaching has propelled me into a career as a Coach and Technical Director. The geek side of me is obsessed with just how much technology is advancing in the sport of golf and I love using this tech or sharing my knowledge of it to improve other players golf games and consistency especially. I am constantly researching and demoing the latest tech that golf companies are coming out with when it comes to Drivers, woods, hybrids, irons, wedges, putters, training aids and even simulators and their software they use for teaching purposes. I have been lucky enough to demo and play hundreds of different clubs from many different brands and as a result have built up an extensive knowledge of club fitting and all the little details involved. Getting the right head, shaft combo along with the correct length, loft and lie angle can make huge differences to your golf game and has done so with myself and previous people I have worked with. There's no better feeling than hitting the course or range with the excitement you feel when having a new club or clubs in the bag, especially when they are the perfect compliment to your current skill level or ability and give you the confidence to hit better shots. I want to share those experiences with many more people, and help them improve their game and enjoy this sport even more so than they already do.
