The Curated Take

4.3/5

The TaylorMade Stealth Plus+ 2 Driver is excellent for players seeking distance and control off the tee. With a 15g sliding weight to counteract slice/hook tendencies and a low-spin design, it's ideal for those who want to fine-tune their ball flight. However, it may not be forgiving enough for less accurate drivers, and shot dispersion can be inconsistent. The carbon face provides an excellent feel and sound, while the workability allows players to shape shots.

Ideal for
  • 15g sliding weight helps offset extreme slice/hook tendencies
  • Distance is substantial even with mishits
  • Feel and sound off the carbon face are excellent
  • Great workability
  • Players can move the weight heel to toe and can change the rear weight for optimal launch
Not ideal for
  • Could be (much) more forgiving
  • Shot dispersion is a bit erratic with carry distances
  • Tends to be too straight; mishits or workable shots are tougher to achieve
  • Low spin head tends to spin too much for lower to negative attack angle players

Expert Reviews of the TaylorMade Stealth Plus+ 2 Driver

The Stealth Plus+ 2 driver is great for a lower handicap player who is confident with their accuracy. It will also be an excellent option for players getting too much spin from their driver and wanting something to keep their drives from ballooning too much. I would not recommend this driver for any player struggling to be accurate with their driver. The more forgiving driver options from the Stealth 2 lineup are the regular Stealth 2 driver and the Stealth 2 HD driver.
One of TaylorMade's latest and greatest iterations brings distance and forgiveness to the forefront. This driver has a very muted or dead sound compared to the first generation of Stealth. The added carbon brings back the design from the Sim 2 and adds the adjustable weight track of the original Stealth and Sim. This driver is the perfect mashup from TaylorMade's more memorable designs, but it is not for everyone. The Stealth Plus+ 2 combines the complete carbon head, carbon composite ring, carbon twist face, and adjustable weight track. While, in many instances, this will be the perfect driver for many players, it comes with some stipulations. This driver tends to spin higher in testing on off-center hits while the ball flight remains the same. I found this driver slightly tough to work as it wanted to go straight each and every time. Overall this driver would be a perfect upgrade for those looking for some gain in distance and forgiveness off the tee. Getting fit for the driver will be instrumental to one's success, as the stock option will not be great for all players.
AJ Ott I think this product is great for anyone wanting to gain distance. Also, it is especially great for players who spin it too much. For example, I switched to this Stealth Plus from the Ping G425. I spin it about 300-400rpms less, yet carry it on average 20 yards farther. This has significantly helped me out in the wind and generally hit more fairways because it spins so much less. This driver also sounds good off the face, one of the main components TaylorMade tests for. After hearing just one off the sweet spot, one won't be able to put it down!
The TaylorMade Stealth Plus+ 2 has been, without question, the longest driver I've tested in 2023 and has found its forever home in my golf bag. The distance is real. The forgiveness leaves a bit to be desired but wow, is it long. The most forgiving drivers tend to underperform in the distance category. After spending almost two years using one of the most forgiving drivers ever made (that shall remain nameless), I had no idea just how much distance I was leaving on the table. TaylorMade Stealth Plus+ 2 enters the chat. My first swing from tee box #1 with the Stealth was a complete mishit. A mishit that, to my surprise, rolled out to a distance that I would have been happy to accept as a great result from my old driver. After a few rounds and some fine-tuning with the 15g sliding weight, I found my rhythm with this club and an additional 20+ yards to boot. It's not the most forgiving driver, and the dispersion could be better. Still, what it lacks in consistency, it absolutely makes up in raw distance and ball speed. My mishits go longer, and great swings are rewarded with massive ball speed, carry, and total yards. If someone wants to add serious distance to their game, give the TaylorMade Stealth Plus+ 2 a swing.
I enjoyed testing this driver but found some flaws rather quickly. It was not as forgiving as I had hoped with the advertisements, but it was more than I expected it to be after reading reviews. It looks great, feels great, has great sound, and has good workability. The movable weight really helped with hitting different shot shapes. Overall I liked the driver, though.

Workability

5/5
gave 5 of 5 stars. Whether someone is battling a slight slice or would like to see their fade be a little stronger, the technology packed into the TaylorMade Stealth Plus+ 2 will be the ideal fit for their needs. The Plus+ 2 design has been upgraded to a 15g sliding weight to promote a fade or draw and can be easily adjusted on the fly.
gave 5 of 5 stars. The Stealth Plus+ 2 driver was designed to be a lower-spinning, more workable driver. While practicing and playing with the driver, I could control my ball flight, whether I wanted to hit a draw or a fade.

Forgiveness

3/5
gave 3 of 5 stars. While the distance totals the TaylorMade Stealth Plus+ 2 can generate are pretty spectacular, the consistency of those yardage numbers and the ball speeds can be somewhat hit or miss. To be fair, even my mishits with this driver finished with more yards than my previous gamer provided. Still, the dispersion area isn't great with the Stealth Plus+ 2, thus leaving a bit more to be desired in the forgiveness department.
gave 2 of 5 stars. The Stealth Plus+ 2 driver is less forgiving than some other drivers on the market. This driver was designed for players who want a more workable, lower-spinning driver. Workability is the opposite of forgiving when speaking on golf clubs. This driver would be best for a more accomplished player who is confident with their accuracy off of the tee box.

Feel

4/5
gave 4 of 5 stars. The added carbon around the frame and 60x twist face carbon technology really promote an outstanding overall feel both throughout the swing and at impact with the ball. Whether I've flushed one right on the sweet spot or mishit one from the heel or toe, the feedback from the twist face carbon layers is extremely helpful in fine-tuning my swing.
gave 3 of 5 stars. As someone typically used to playing with Titleist or Callaway drivers, I am not a big fan of the feel of the Stealth Plus+ 2. The carbon fiber face has more of a dead feeling than a driver with a titanium face. However, the driver performs well despite the unusual feeling at impact.

Sound

4/5
gave 5 of 5 stars. The 60x layers of carbon that make up its almost rubber-like face produce the most unique and satisfying sound from a driver I have ever experienced. Coming from one of the more popular drivers of 2022 (that brand named after the sound they make) that had a terrible high-pitched metal ting with every strike, my experience with the Stealth Plus+ 2's muted thud-like tone has been a welcome change.
gave 3 of 5 stars. Personally, I am not a huge fan of the sound from the Stealth Plus+ 2 driver. However, if a player previously played with TaylorMade drivers, I think they would like the sound. I am just not used to it. The carbon fiber face has more of a dead sound than a titanium face driver.

Launch

5/5
gave 5 of 5 stars. TaylorMade has a handful of shaft options for players when placing their orders. While the head is designed to promote a low-spinning swing, the shaft options promote multiple launch angles. I initially ordered the Kai'lil Red stiff flex shaft. Still, after a few practice rounds, I realized this mid-to-high launching shaft was not right for my swing and switched to the low launch/low spin HZRDUS Smoke Black stiff shaft. This upgrade immediately helped me achieve a more consistent launch angle and dispersion. If someone has a launch angle they prefer, make sure they pair the right shaft with this driver.
gave 4 of 5 stars. I am pleased with the launch from this driver because I usually struggle with having a high launch and spin. It brought my ball flight down, and I am more accurate. However, I would not recommend this driver to players who want one to help them launch the ball higher.

Distance

5/5
gave 5 of 5 stars. The ball speed generated in this low spinning design, along with the carbon twist face technology, has proved to be one lethal combination in terms of total distance capabilities from the tee. After switching from my old driver and landing par 4s from the tee box that I had never come close to reaching in the past, I knew this driver was exactly what I had been looking for.
gave 4 of 5 stars. I am pleased with the distance I get from this driver. The low spin and launch helped me lower my ball flight and get more rollout on my drives. It is not very forgiving regarding direction, but I definitely hit the ball far.

FAQs

What was your favorite moment with this gear?

The primary reason I chose to upgrade from my safe, reliable gamer to the TaylorMade Stealth Plus+ 2 was the possibility that I might be leaving some distance on the table. I had researched the ball speed potential in the Stealth Plus+ 2 driver, but I was truly blown away when I finally got my hands on one. I realized this was the club for me after driving the green on hole 11 at my local course—a 290-yard par 4 that I just couldn't seem to get within 20 yards of landing. Hitting that green was all the convincing I needed. The TaylorMade Stealth Plus+ 2 is an absolute game-changer.
My favorite moment was the first time I used it on the course. I hit more fairways and got more distance because of the low-spin design.

Why did you choose this product?

The carbon face, shot-shaping sliding weight, and low spin technology are all outstanding features in the TaylorMade Stealth Plus+ 2. Among the many benefits of this club, I primarily chose to upgrade to the Stealth Plus+ 2 because of the massive increase in ball speed and total distance from what my old driver was providing.

What is the value for the money versus other options?

The TaylorMade Stealth Plus+ 2 is one of the most forgiving, accurate, and longest drivers ever. Though the Taylormade Stealth Plus 2 is one of the higher-priced options in the driver category, the overall quality and performance still make it an outstanding value.
The value for the money compared to other brands is comparable. The performance is very similar to the other low-spinning models from the other top brands priced at around $600.

What do you love about this product?

The TaylorMade Stealth Plus+ 2 is loaded with amazing features. The ball speed, distance, and forgiveness generated from the Stealth Plus+ 2 catapult this driver to the top of the class. One of my absolute favorite features is the unique sound and feel that's generated from a flushed strike off the layered carbon face technology.
What I love the most about the Stealth Plus+ 2 driver is the low launch and low spin. I typically have difficulty keeping my ball flight down with a standard driver design because they are higher launching models. The Stealth Plus+ 2 driver was designed specifically for players with that issue, and it has helped my drives.
