The Curated Take
3.8/5
The Callaway Epic Speed Driver features AI Jailbreak technology and a compact, traditional head design. It is ideal for intermediate to advanced golfers seeking workability, forgiveness, and increased distance. The driver provides a powerful but controlled feel, and its muted sound inspires confidence. Its mid-to-high launch enhances drive distances, making it valuable for higher handicappers. It's also a great value, performing comparably to more expensive options on the market.

Expert Reviews of the Callaway Epic Speed Driver - Used
Vincent P. The Callaway Epic Speed is great for intermediate players wanting a more advanced driver but not something too hard to hit. The driver is not as forgiving as the Epic Max, but not as low spinning and hard to hit as the LS model. Overall, this driver best fits the mid to low handicapper that still wants some forgiveness in their driver. I really enjoy hitting this because it feels great at contact and always has a solid launch. Overall, it is a fantastic driver that is still used by many pros despite it being almost four years old.

Workability
3/5
Vincent P. gave 3 of 5 stars. The Callaway Epic Speed will provide a solid amount of workability simply due to the more compact, traditional head design. However, since this club is a bit more forgiving and meant for higher handicappers, it will provide a different type of workability than its older brother, the Epic Max LS.
Forgiveness
4/5
Vincent P. gave 4 of 5 stars. The Epic Speed is a very forgiving driver. The design with the AI Jailbreak technology makes it perfect for hitting straight and far. The more traditional, slightly less rounded design makes this driver a tad less forgiving than the Epic Max. However, in reality, any player could use this club. But, for those wanting a tad more forgiveness, the Epic Max is the ideal choice.
Feel
4/5
Vincent P. gave 4 of 5 stars. Once again, the design of the Epic Speed makes it a perfect driver for a player wanting a good balance of feel and forgiveness. The feel of this club can best be described as powerful but controlled. The average player will feel confident on every swing because of the wonderful, muted sound that resonates from every shot. Overall, this driver will do the job really well for the average player and give them confidence on every drive.
Sound
4/5
Vincent P. gave 4 of 5 stars. The Callaway Epic Speed Driver has a wonderful sound to it. When hitting it, the sound is very solid and precise. The sound is strong but not overly metallic due to the combination of carbon fibers and titanium. As a result, the sound is very balanced and muted, giving a player great confidence.
Launch
4/5
Vincent P. gave 4 of 5 stars. The Callaway Epic Speed is really good when it comes to launch. The stock shaft for this club is the Project X HZRDUS Smoke IM10, a solid mid to higher launching shaft. As a result, this club will make it easy to get the ball up. This is essential for higher handicappers because it will likely result in improved distances and hitting more fairways.
Distance
4/5
Vincent P. gave 4 of 5 stars. The Callaway Epic Speed is one of the longest-hitting drivers from 2021. This driver is designed with a slightly less rounded head that is more compact. This design makes it more aerodynamically favorable for generating more swing speed. The design and the mid-launching shaft will give all players an excellent trajectory and increased distance.
FAQs
What was your favorite moment with this gear?
Vincent P. When I first got this driver, I could not miss the fairway. My favorite moment with this was hitting it at our golf summit. I knew I would not hit it further than most players, but I remember hitting one of the furthest drives I ever had on the long drive hole.
What is the value for the money versus other options?
Vincent P. At the time, this driver was overshadowed by the Sim 2 Driver. However, it was cheaper at release and performed better for most players. So overall, the price to overall value is top-notch. Also, the value is undeniable, with the price being much lower today. For around $300, this driver will perform better than most $600 drivers today.
What do you love about this product?
Vincent P. I love how forgiving and smooth this driver feels to hit.
