Expert Reviews of the TaylorMade Stealth Driver - Used

The 60X carbon twist face provides optimal energy transfer with a hotter face. It's incredibly forgiving. The increased size of the face and clubhead allow for an increased sweet spot area. Distance and accuracy are great, even with my mishits. Superb feel on shots hit on the face. This club has solid aerodynamics that allows for effective shots just before impact. There's also an additional weight that can be placed to increase the moment of inertia (MOI). The Stealth is also 44% lighter than titanium, increasing swing speed and easy power.
The TaylorMade Stealth driver is one of the best drivers released in 2022. This driver is completely carbon faced, making it more durable and very responsive. While it does not sound just like titanium, it does sound nice off the tee. This driver is forgiving and hits far, making it great for the average or high-handicap player who wants a quality driver who consistently hits straight and far.
For the more advanced, low-handicap player, this is a great driver. However, if someone is looking for a consistently forgiving driver, this may not be the one for them. This driver provides reasonable distance, feel, sound, and launch off the face but does not provide good forgiveness on most mishits.

Workability

3/5
gave 3 of 5 stars. The Stealth driver's design often prioritizes forgiveness and distance, somewhat limiting its workability. The emphasis on forgiveness typically means that the driver's design promotes straighter shots with reduced sidespin, making it more suitable for golfers to prioritize accuracy and consistency over shot manipulation. However, the Stealth driver may still offer some adjustability options that can aid in altering ball flight. It features adjustable loft settings, allowing golfers to fine-tune their shots' launch angle and trajectory. This adjustability can provide a degree of workability, allowing golfers to optimize their ball flight according to different course conditions or personal preferences. While the TaylorMade Stealth driver may not be specifically tailored for extreme shot shaping, its adjustability options and overall performance can still provide some opportunities for golfers to work the ball to a certain degree.

Forgiveness

5/5
gave 5 of 5 stars. One key aspect contributing to the Stealth driver's forgiveness is its large sweet spot. The clubface is designed to provide a generous hitting area, which helps reduce the negative effects of off-center hits. Even when one doesn't strike the ball perfectly in the center of the face, the Stealth driver is engineered to provide a degree of forgiveness, resulting in improved accuracy and distance consistency. Additionally, the driver's advanced weighting system plays a crucial role in enhancing forgiveness. It typically incorporates a low and back center of gravity (CG) position, which helps stabilize the clubhead at impact. This CG placement reduces unwanted side spin and increases the club's resistance to twisting, minimizing the impact of mishits and promoting straighter shots. The Stealth features a combination of perimeter weighting and a high moment of inertia (MOI). Perimeter weighting redistributes weight around the clubhead's edges, enhancing stability and forgiveness on off-center hits.

Feel

5/5
gave 5 of 5 stars. The construction and materials used in the driver's design are one element that affects the feel. TaylorMade typically incorporates high-quality materials and craftsmanship to ensure a premium feel. The Stealth clubhead is made from carbon composite (utilized in the 60X carbon twist face), enhancing the driver's overall feel. Another factor influencing the feel is the club's weight distribution and balance. The Stealth driver is designed to have a balanced and well-weighted feel throughout the swing, allowing for a smooth and controlled motion. This balance can contribute to confidence and control when addressing the ball and executing one's swing.

Sound

5/5
gave 5 of 5 stars. TaylorMade utilizes advanced carbon composite in the construction of the Stealth driver. These materials contribute to the overall sound profile of the club. The specific combination of materials and the way they interact with each other during impact can create a distinct sound that golfers appreciate. The sound of the Stealth driver is designed to provide pleasing auditory feedback to the golfer. It's meant to give a sense of confidence and assurance that the shot was well-struck. The sound can also indicate the energy transfer between the clubface and the golf ball, providing valuable sensory information during the swing.

Launch

4/5
gave 4 of 5 stars. The driver is designed to provide a high launch, allowing the ball to get airborne quickly and achieve a desirable trajectory. The launch performance of the Stealth driver is influenced by several design elements and technologies incorporated by TaylorMade. One significant factor is the driver's low center of gravity (CG) position. By placing the CG low in the clubhead, the driver helps promote a higher launch angle. This low CG positioning encourages a higher initial launch, allowing the ball to ascend quickly and achieve a favorable trajectory for increased carry distance. Furthermore, the Stealth driver features a combination of optimized loft and face angle configurations. These design considerations work in conjunction with the low CG to further enhance the launch characteristics. The loft options available with the driver allow golfers to customize their launch conditions based on their swing speed, angle of attack, and desired trajectory.

Distance

4/5
gave 4 of 5 stars. One notable feature contributing to the driver's distance performance is the optimization of the center of gravity (CG) position. The Stealth driver typically incorporates a low and back CG, which helps promote higher launch angles and lower spin rates. This CG placement and other design elements allow for increased energy transfer to the ball, resulting in enhanced ball speed and greater distance. Additionally, the driver's aerodynamic design plays a crucial role in optimizing clubhead speed, minimizing drag, and maximizing distance. Stealth drivers are often crafted with streamlined shapes, reducing air resistance during the swing and increasing clubhead speed. This enhanced clubhead speed, combined with the optimized CG and other performance technologies, can lead to longer drives. The combination of a forgiving clubface and the large sweet spot of this Stealth driver can help maintain ball speed and distance even on off-center hits.

FAQs

What was your favorite moment with this gear?

My favorite moment with this drive was on a par 4, big dogleg left that started the cut left at about 210 yards. I hit a MASSIVE draw with this club and landed right in the fairway about 200 yards from the green. The heel-weighted draw bias within this driver attributes massively to well-struck draw shots, just like this one. It was a masterpiece of a shot.
