It offers great toe hang for the face to square up at impact and its excellent feel helps unlock precise distance control. Expert Reviews of the Titleist Scotty Cameron Phantom X 9.5 Putter

Connor Wilkins The Scotty Cameron Phantom 9.5 is an excellent putter for the player with a lot of arc in their putting stroke, as the maximum toe hang helps bring the face around and square up at impact. Combine that with Scotty Cameron's premium face milling and attention to detail, and players have an excellent putter at eliminating three putts. Keep in mind that the putter is very hot off the face, as the ball wants to jump. There is a break-in period as one gets used to the level of speed they need to sink putts.
Aaron Payne The Titleist Scotty Cameron Phantom 2022 X 9.5 is a premium putter known for its excellent feel, balance, and performance. With a multi-material construction that combines stainless steel, aluminum, and tungsten, it offers exceptional stability and forgiveness. The high moment of inertia design reduces twisting on off-center hits, resulting in more consistent distance control. The putter features customizable options, including adjustable sole weights and shaft lengths, allowing golfers to tailor it to their preferences and stroke. Its sleek aesthetics and clean lines create a visually appealing and confident look at address. The precision milling on the face ensures a consistent and smooth roll, promoting accuracy and control on the greens. However, its price point may deter some golfers who want more affordable options. Overall, the Scotty Cameron Phantom 2022 X 9.5 putter is a top-of-the-line option for golfers who prioritize exceptional feel, forgiveness, and customization in their putting game.

Review Ratings

Forgiveness

3/5
Connor Wilkins gave 3 of 5 stars. If you are generally good at hitting the sweet spot with your putter, the 9.5 will definitely work for you. If you tend to hit all over the face with your putter, there are other putters that are not fully milled, but have face inserts, that are more forgiving.

Alignment

5/5
Connor Wilkins gave 5 of 5 stars. Due to the straight long line down the back of the putter, lining up to putter with my intended line is very easy and feels natural. I can stand over the ball in the correct position, and it doesn't feel like my eyes are playing tricks on me.

Grip

4/5
Connor Wilkins gave 4 of 5 stars. The smaller grip the Scotty Cameron 9.5 comes with is thin and may only fit some players' preferred feel. While this may be the case with the stock grip, one can always upgrade their grip to other brands that make putter grips.

Feel

5/5
Connor Wilkins gave 5 of 5 stars. The Scotty Cameron 9.5 feels like the ball almost jumps off the face, and I can feel the contact and know exactly where the ball is heading. Few other putters can accomplish that.

Balance

4/5
Connor Wilkins gave 4 of 5 stars. With the small slant neck, players get near maximum toe hang, which allows the face to close at impact if they have a solid arcing putter stroke. It is best if golfers notice that they pull their putts left and try to straighten out their strokes. I have a strong putting stroke, so the Scotty Cameron 9.5 fits the bill.

FAQs

What was your favorite moment with this gear?

Connor Wilkins Draining a 30ft putt is one of the best feelings, and doing it not once but twice in one round is next level. During the spring of 2023, I played Nob North in Georgia, a fairly difficult course with many pretty slopey greens, making puts challenging to read. I reached a par 4 in three strokes and needed to make a 30ft putt to save par. I pulled out my 9.5 and used the sightline to line up my putt. The feel of this putter makes it very easy to control speed (once one is used to it), and I gave it the right speed. The ball cruised down the green and ended with a nice thunk in the hole. Later that round, I reached a par 5 in three strokes and needed to make a 35ft putt over a hump to make birdie. I lined the putt up, and like clockwork, the putter performed, and I made birdie.

Why did you choose this product?

Connor Wilkins I chose this Scotty Cameron for its legendary quality, feel, and toe hang required for my putting stroke. I prefer short slant hosels, and this fits the bill.

What is the value for the money versus other options?

Connor Wilkins Scotty Cameron putters are some of the most expensive putters on the market. However, if someone values quality, feel, and expert craftsmanship, only some other brands come close. Players are getting a putter that performs.

What do you love about this product?

Connor Wilkins The Scotty Cameron Phantom X 9.5 is fantastic for someone looking for decent forgiveness in their putter without sacrificing feel or quality. Where I think this putter shines is the amount of toe hang it has, lending to my strong arc putting stroke. The toe hang allows my putter's face to square up at impact, whereas a face-balanced putter tends to close and cause shots to miss left. Additionally, the feeling of rolling a ball off the face of this putter is second to none. It has a nice, firm click and bounce, making the ball jump off the face. I have not found another putter brand close to the Scotty Cameron feel.
