Hello, it's Chris from Curated. I've got over five years of experience working in the industry and have spent 100 days on the mountain this season alone. Today, I will be comparing two snowboards: the Capita D.O.A. and the Burton Custom. We'll talk their similarities, differences, and determine which one's the best for you. I'm really excited about this one, so let's get right into it.
CAPiTA D.O.A. Snowboard
First, let's talk about the D.O.A. This is Capita's number one selling snowboard. The graphics change year after year, but Capita remains one of the best snowboard brands in the business. They say it's a resort utilitarian, meaning this is one of those boards that's going to be able to handle any type of condition you bring it into. Personally, I've been able to ride this board in any type of condition. I've ridden it in powder, park, and pretty much everything. And now, it's one of my favorite boards as a daily driver. It's going to handle the park well, and all-mountain.
This board is really designed for that person who's trying to turn every resort trail into a park. Whether you're doing butters, looking for side hits, or boosting off them, this board is going to help facilitate your freestyle progression. Although it's not going to be the best for boosting off of massive jumps, this board has really good impact resistance and provides maximum pop.
This board has Capita's Resort V1 profile, which is a reverse camber, zero camber, and positive camber; basically flat-camber-flat. This profile design overall helps add boost to those flat zones and this is where you can lock in those butters.

Burton Custom Snowboard
Now, let's talk about the Burton Custom. This is Burton's number one selling snowboard. It's got a cult following and is slightly stiffer than medium flex, so I'd rate it at roughly a 6 to 6.5. The snowboard is a true camber snowboard with traditional camber and it's an all-mountain directional snowboard. This typically means that it has a slightly longer nose and tail.
Comparing that to the D.O.A., the D.O.A. is a true twin snowboard with both sides the same. You can ride this in both directions and it won't change the length of the tip to tail. This board, when you ride it switch, has a slightly longer nose than tail.
Looking at some of the engineering points of this snowboard, it has a twin flex and Burton's super fly 700g core. Basically, this snowboard is going to perform extremely well in all types of conditions. It's a really versatile snowboard.
Take a look at the size chart down here. This board has a directional all-mountain design to it but the nose and the tail are the same width. And this makes it a twin snowboard overall. It's an all-mountain twin.
The biggest difference between this board and the Capita D.O.A. is that this board is a little bit stiffer, more tuned up for powder, and better suited for steeper terrain. Overall, this board is going to be better on a double black diamond versus the D.O.A. However, when you're boosting off mini side hits or trying to do butters all over the mountain, the D.O.A. is going to be a better board.

Similarities and Differences
These boards have a lot of similarities, but the biggest differences lie in their stiffness and in their intended performance. As I mentioned, the D.O.A. is the board for someone trying to turn the resort into a park and looking to have fun all over the mountain. On the other hand, the Burton Custom is like a one-board quiver. You won't really need another board. It's going to be your powder board, park board, and it's going to be able to do it all.
Which one is going to be the best for you is really going to be determined by your goals and aspirations as a rider. If you'd like to discuss this further, talk with an expert at Curated.com. We'll help you dial in your setup and figure out which one of these is going to be the best option for you.
