Expert Reviews of the Jones Twin Sister Snowboard
Stephanie Craig The Jones Mountain Twin Sister is a fun board great for any advancing rider who likes to play around the whole mountain. This is a “do it all board” that gives a fun ride even on icy terrain! Jones is widely known for their crisp edge cut, and it doesn’t disappoint. This board is a medium flex with a rocker/camber/rocker shape, giving a playful and stable ride. This board is also twin shaped, allowing me to ride in either direction flawlessly! Whether I'm popping off side hits, shredding up in the trees, or carving up the groomers, this board won’t disappoint I wouldn’t recommend this board for the beginning rider or for a rider that isn’t comfortable with speed just yet. There are much better board options out there for those riders. The design is so much prettier in person!

Flotation
5/5
Stephanie Craig gave 5 of 5 stars. The 3D Contour Base, the V-core profile, and the CamRock shape provide an effortless float in the deepest powder. This board also has the freeride stance option, allowing me to have a setback stance to lift the nose just enough to float on those heavier fresh powder or backcountry days.
Carving
5/5
Stephanie Craig gave 5 of 5 stars. Jones 3D Contour Base is excellent. The way this board rolls into a carve and floats through the powder like a boat on the water is phenomenal! I am very impressed by the shape of this board and the Traction tech edges; these features significantly help me ease into every carve. This board is designed to give me the cleanest carves on the slopes!
High Speed Stability
5/5
Stephanie Craig gave 5 of 5 stars. My last board was a turtle compared to the Twin Sister! I wanted to make sure this board could pick up speed when needed. It's not the fastest board I've ridden, but it is a lot faster than the boards I've owned in the past. Having the camber underfoot and the Sintered 8000 Base allows for a crazy fast ride! I have been able to catch my record high speeds this season, and I feel very stable every time. No speed wobbles here!
Playfulness
5/5
Stephanie Craig gave 5 of 5 stars. I love the amount of play and flex this board provides without giving me an unstable ride. This board features the V-core shape, giving a softer and more relaxed feel between my feet for easier turn initiation and effortless ground tricks, and stiffer in the nose and tail for more stability in my speed and carving. The camber underfoot resembles the standard camber feel with plenty of pop and is ready for any natural side hit, while the rocker in the nose and tail allows effortless float and very clean carving all over the slopes.
Durability
4/5
Stephanie Craig gave 4 of 5 stars. I have owned several boards in my years of riding, and so far, the Jones skin and base are holding up very well! I ride through trees quite a bit and am prepared to have a base with scratches. The number of rocks I took this board through at the end of the season surprised me because the base only had a small number of scratches. Wear and tear is normal, but I am impressed so far after my first season with this board.
Turn Ease
5/5
Stephanie Craig gave 5 of 5 stars. Made with the 3D Contour Base, the V-core, and Traction Tech 3.0, this board has the most effortless turn initiation. Combining these features provides me with a clean carve and allows me to roll into my carves, preventing me from feeling all the bumps along the run. This board glides all over the mountain!
Versatility
5/5
Stephanie Craig gave 5 of 5 stars. This board takes me through trees, allows me to carve up fresh groomers, play around with ground tricks, and plow through waist-deep powder with no stress! I am amazed at the things this board allows me to do. I don't want to be held back by a board again, and this board enables me to venture anywhere my snowboarding dreams desire.
FAQs
What was your favorite moment with this gear?
Stephanie Craig This was the best season by far here in Colorado. It was the second to last weekend of the season, and my husband surprised me with tickets to Snowmass Mountain. We woke up to 2ft of fresh powder in the high country and were stoked. We get to the very top of Snowmass Mountain and see a huge line of people walking off in the distance. We decided to follow the crowd just this one time, and I am so thankful we did. We dipped our toes into the backcountry and effortlessly plowed through waist-deep powder-throwing clouds of snow. Probably my favorite day of riding so far.
Why did you choose this product?
Stephanie Craig Living in Colorado and primarily riding the Western slope, I thought for a long time, and I did a lot of research about the board I wanted to invest in. I really wanted a "do it all board" that could handle deep powder along with being playful for when I want to lay down some ground tricks or bomb a run if wanted. I love riding through the trees, so I needed something more toward medium flex. I chose the Jones Twin Sister because of its versatility from the board's shape, 3D Contour Base 2.0, and Traction Tech Edges 3.0. This board can ride all over the mountain, whether the conditions are icy or fresh powder.
The Twin Sister's shape is what initially stole me. This board has a camber/rocker/camber shape, also known as CamRock or the hybrid rocker. The camber underfoot gives me the same playful pop as a standard camber board, while the rocker between the feet gives me effortless float in powder and easier turn initiation, perfect for all-over-the-mountain riding from icy groomers to powder-filled tree runs.
I also love to ride switch. That was a necessary factor, and the Twin Sister is a true twin-shaped board allowing flawless switch riding. This board also has a V-core shape giving me a very stable and playful ride. The exclusive wood V-core design is softer between the feet for easier turn initiation and stiffer in the nose and tail for more stability in landing big air or riding through uneven terrain. The 3D Contour Base 2.0 is an improved base that gives me the smoothest ride possible. This base is inspired by the Hawaiian surfboard's rounded bottom contour, helping me ride smoother and faster. These edges allow me to roll into my carve, creating edge-to-edge fluidity.
This board also has a sintered base ready to bomb any run. My previous board was incredibly slow; having a board that could pick up speed was also a big factor in my choice. Its Traction Tech 3.0 edges are similar to Lib Tech and Gnu's Magne-Traction edges but with three bumps on each side of the board, the front binding, middle of the board, and back binding. The bump in the center of the board is slightly bigger for better grip in my carving. This board can handle those icy terrains. This is a great option if someone is a progressing intermediate to advanced rider wanting a playful ride that can do it all, no matter the snow condition.
What is the value for the money versus other options?
Stephanie Craig I think this is a steal for the price. This is a do-it-all-in-one board for under $600. It could easily be four boards in one. For the features on this board along with the quality of products used, I would say this is fully worth the investment. The design is holding up well after the first season. I tend to go in the trees. My gear usually gets scratched. The base is a bit scratched, but I believe that's normal wear and tear. I have owned previous boards where the top base starts peeling after the first week. The value is worth every penny.
What do you love about this product?
Stephanie Craig I love how stable I feel even at higher speeds, along with the board being able to just plow through fresh deep powder.
