The heat moldable Intuition liner offers exceptional comfort. These boots are lightweight due to In2grated technology and boast excellent waterproofing and durability. They provide impressive grip on various terrains, making them versatile for splitboarding, groomers, park, sidecountry, and backcountry. Expert Reviews of the Ride Trident Snowboard Boots

The Tridents are ideal for those who like stiff and comfortable boots. I have slender feet that always leave me struggling with heel lifts. I have always had to get insoles, heel lifts, and tighten my boots to the max to get a boot that holds my heel and not crush my toes. However, the Ride Trident snowboard boots blew my mind. This is the first boot I have had that made me think, "Is it too stiff?" I giggled and realized that was what I wanted! The triple BOA allows me to wrench my heel into place and keep it there. The other two BOAs enable me to make the boot comfortable and tight enough in other areas. The Intuition wrap is nicely secure, and the heat moldable part makes this liner the crème de la crème. The liner conforms to my foot after a quick heat molding. The last thing I love about this boot is the Flex Slime tongue. It provides an excellent rebound to reduce shin bang and has a sticky surface for the BOA to hold onto.

Review Ratings

Heel Hold

5/5
gave 5 of 5 stars. With slender feet and high calves, I have always struggled with heel lift, but not the Tridents. I love the internal and external J-Bars and the BOA specific to locking my heel in place.

Weight

5/5
gave 5 of 5 stars. The In2grated technology allows Ride to make a smaller boot that takes up less space in one's bindings, leading to a lightweight boot platform. Ride accomplishes this by fusing the interior with the exterior of the boot. I have done a lot of boot packing in these up steep terrain, and I can feel the difference in the weight.

Waterproofing

5/5
gave 5 of 5 stars. I do a lot of snowboarding in various conditions, and I have never had an issue with my feet getting wet in the Tridents. I can splash through parking lot puddles and slush in the spring with no issues. They have a good toe cap and offer good overall closure to keep moisture out.

Grip

5/5
gave 5 of 5 stars. I did some patrolling missions in these boots that involved traversing high alpine rocks. They were durable and offered lots of grips on snow-packed rock. The sole material is surprisingly grippy and doesn't slip around in my bindings, even when splitboarding and getting packed with snow.

Durability

5/5
gave 5 of 5 stars. These boots are very durable and built to last multiple seasons. No matter the terrain, I feel confident these boots will not rip or tear. The toe cap is made of thick rubber, helping protect my toes from the elements quite well.

Comfort

4/5
gave 4 of 5 stars. I gave this boot 4 stars because of the stiffness. I enjoy stiff boots, and the Trident knocks it out of the park in comfort. The heat moldable Intuition liner is like wrapping my feet in pillows. My feet stay warm and comfortable all day long in these boots.

Shock Absorption

5/5
gave 5 of 5 stars. These boots feature a good footbed, so harsh landings do not feel as severe. The Tridents are built to go all day long and stomp big landings and lines. Ride thought about shock absorption when designing the footbed and the sole.

Responsiveness

5/5
gave 5 of 5 stars. I have always felt like snowboard boots are not stiff enough for me. After riding for three-plus days in a row, most boots turn to soft cardboard. The Trident is a 9 out of 10 on the stiffness scale, and I have many days on them. The boots are still stiff and help me feel locked into my snowboard.

Ease of Use

5/5
gave 5 of 5 stars. I have BOA on many products, and I love the ease of use and fine-tuning they bring to the table. They are intuitive, and I have never had an issue with them breaking on me. The best part about BOA is that they loosen up less than traditional lacing systems.

Versatility

3/5
gave 3 of 5 stars. These boots are so stiff. I can still shred the park in them, but the stiffness of the Trident is better enjoyed on groomers or when ripping big mountain lines high up in the backcountry. These boots shine during splitboard/hiking missions because I can lock my heels in easily and prevent blisters.

FAQs

What do you love about this product?

This boot fits my foot exceptionally well. I have narrow feet and have always struggled to find a boot that holds my heel in place but doesn't make it go numb. I also like that this boot is stiff. It allows me to lock in my turns and completely control my board.

What was your favorite moment with this gear?

The first day I wore these boots, I could lock in turns much better than ever. I have always dreamed of doing a full loop-to-loop turn going back up the mountain, and these boots brought me closer than ever.

Why did you choose this product?

I have never found a boot that I felt was stiff enough. I also struggled with my boots packing out quickly. I decided to buy a stiff boot, knowing it would still be nice and stiff when it packs out. So far, I have 18 days in them, and they are still stiff.

What is the value for the money versus other options?

The Tridents are expensive, but the real value comes from the Intuition liner. It has a full wrap around the ankle to help prevent shin bang and heel lift. The comfort lasts all day with this liner.

I cannot imagine my life without a snowboard. I have been chasing powder since my first taste at age 4, and here I am still loving it 25 years later:) My parents both worked in the outdoor industry and I grew up chasing the same passions. I have been working in the outdoor industry for the past 14 years and I LOVE CHASING STORMS! I once broke 1 arm snowboarding, and broke the other arm snowboarding 2 weeks later. My biggest fear in life is that one day there will be no more pow days, so for now, I gotta get every one that I can. You will find me in the parking lot camping out in the back of my Honda Element. You will find me grilling hot dogs first thing in the morning and trying to get everyone as stoked as I am. I am the guy on the lift that is most likely to offer you pocket snacks such as beef jerky, muffins, beer, and bacon. I always get the first chair and I go until I cannot go anymore, then I go some more. You will find me in the areas that most people do not go, tight trees, steep cliffs, tight chutes, and hike-to -terrain. My all time favorite thing is hitting all natural pole jams in the woods on a Pow Day. I am excited to share my passion and expertise to help get you on your best setup!
