Expert Reviews of the Titleist Vokey SM9 Brushed Steel Wedge
Brian Kilcarr The Titleist Vokey SM9 Brushed Steel Wedge is great for someone looking for confidence from their wedge and needing a club to help them in many scenarios during their golf round. The different grind and bounce options allow a player to suit their needs. The other major benefits are a more consistent launch and ball flight. This wedge enables my accuracy to improve while not losing any distance. It has led to more distance as my confidence increased, allowing me to go after more shots. I have played this wedge for the past five years. I replace them with new models yearly and have been satisfied. Whenever I think the wedges are great, how could they be better? Titleist makes minor adjustments to add a little better feel or forgiveness every time.

Greenside Spin
5/5
Brian Kilcarr gave 5 of 5 stars. These clubs around the green get me great spin and check even on short shots on the fringe and in the greenside rough. The versatile sole also allows me to open and club the face to increase height and spin or decrease loft and let the ball release more if needed.
Spin
4/5
Brian Kilcarr gave 4 of 5 stars. Rough and fairway bunkers spin in well and usually get a great check or spin back. There are some shots out of rough or on mishits where there is a lot more release than expected. These are typically shots that release a lot anyway, but I have had wedges before that sometimes are more forgiving.
Feel
5/5
Brian Kilcarr gave 5 of 5 stars. This club has a great feel. Shots struck the same way, come out and feel the same off the club. One can feel their mishits immediately and know where the ball hit on the face. This feel will help players of all levels improve right away and have them trust their wedge a lot more.
Full Shots
5/5
Brian Kilcarr gave 5 of 5 stars. Full shots with these clubs are great because I can trust my swing each time to be a consistent distance and have a similar spin. Also, someone can take a full swing and change the height of their shots by simply changing the ball flight or the follow-through and trust that this club can perform almost identically low, mid, or high ball flight.
Sound
5/5
Brian Kilcarr gave 5 of 5 stars. These clubs have a great sound where I can tell when I clipped one off the turf with spin or hit a flitted shot into a tough green. The excellent sounds come from the bunker shots. This club interacts with the sand well, and I hear that "thump" as I come down and through the sand.
FAQs
What do you love about this product?
Brian Kilcarr What I love most about this wedge is the different grind options. Having additional loft and bounce tied in lets someone find the club that works for them to suit their needs on the course best.
What was your favorite moment with this gear?
Brian Kilcarr My favorite moment with this club was getting my first hole-out eagle on a par4. I was 114 yards out with my 48° F grind wedge. It was the first day I had it on the course and maybe the second swing with it and hit my approach shot in one hop and into the hole.
Why did you choose this product?
Brian Kilcarr I chose this product for two reasons: versatility with the different grind and loft options and the feel of the clubhead. The clubhead on many wedges is heavy and feels like it can only do one thing. But with the Vokey, one gets a lighter feel, allowing them to adjust their swing easier to hit the shot needed in each scenario.
