TaylorMade is an active golf equipment manufacturer at the forefront of new club technology and a popular staple among PGA Tour players. Their drivers, fairway woods, irons, wedges, and putters are designed for players of all skill levels seeking to maximize performance and lower scores.

I picked up my first golf club in the early ‘90s and have been on a daily pursuit to learn more about the equipment available to improve my game ever since. I spent four years playing Division 1 college golf, and I have also worked in the golf industry, most recently as the caddiemaster at the Kiawah Island Club. I have tested golf clubs from every manufacturer, and TaylorMade consistently stands out as one of the elites.

There is no better feeling than walking off the 18th green after tapping in to shoot your best score, and the most effective way of accomplishing that is to have the right equipment in the bag.

Throughout my golfing life, I have developed a passion for assisting others in finding the right equipment so that they can discover that 18th green feeling that is unlike any other. In this article, I review the best 5 TaylorMade golf clubs to complete your bag.

1. TaylorMade Spider GT Max Single Bend Putter

The Spider GT Max from TaylorMade provides a smooth roll and stability for golfers of all skill levels looking to make more putts. Let’s face it — your most memorable rounds will all include a hot putter, and the best way to get hot on the greens is with the right blade for your game.

At first look, I noticed the adjustable tungsten weights that are designed to allow the user to modify the putter to align with their stroke. For a player who pays attention to detail, this is an ideal feature that is worth experimenting with.

I found the GT Max to be exceptionally accurate from short range as the large design of the clubhead makes it easy to keep the putter on plane even for the shakiest of strokes. Immediately I felt confident over short putts, and as a result, my stroke from long range became more fluid.

Dialing in the distance on the GT Max came effortlessly, and the pure roll insert provided a soft and balanced strike at impact. The roll is true, and mishits react like putts struck on center.

The GT Max is a tour-ready putter that can also serve a day-one beginner. It stands out to me as the most versatile TaylorMade putter available and the best overall that they have to offer.

The only downside for some may be the shape of the putter, which is not unlike a Star Wars TIE fighter spacecraft. The larger design works as intended to keep the putter on plane for overall consistency; however, for those who prefer a straight blade more like Collin Morikawa’s TaylorMade TP Soto, this look might be too much.

2. TaylorMade Hi-Toe 3 Wedge

To put it simply, the Hi-Toe 3 wedge will increase the type of shots you are able to play from greenside. When compared to a traditional wedge, the toe of the club is higher, allowing for more surface area to catch the ball when trying to get up and down around the green.

Unless you are hitting every green in regulation, you will be faced with a few or more awkward chip shots around the green throughout a round of golf. For a low-handicap player, these shots will make or break an even-par round. For a high handicapper, these shots can produce downright embarrassment if not executed properly.

The Hi-Toe 3 wedge was specifically designed to make these shots easier and more precise for beginners and experts alike. The added surface area on the toe of the club allows for extreme forgiveness on a misplayed chip shot and provides additional support for shots in the deep rough. For experts, the higher toe increases the chances of executing that high flop shot over a bunker that you may have otherwise avoided.

While the shape of the wedge is not traditional, the non-traditional part of the wedge is what makes the Hi-Toe the most effective. The design itself provides the user with the ability to hit shots that they could not with a traditionally designed wedge.

I have the Hi-Toe 3 wedge in my bag permanently because I believe that they have the best wedge design available. For one-hop-and-stop action, the Hi-Toe 3 provides spin control and exactness. It interacts well with the turf and provides the opportunity to conquer various scenarios around the green.

Full shots with the Hi-Toe 3 wedge are precise and land soft. Controlling your spin is the key to distance control, and the Hi-Toe 3 wedge is comfortable to dial in.

3. TaylorMade P790 Iron

TaylorMade’s P790 iron is an aesthetically pleasing masterpiece that can perform at a tour level. Its feel and workability rival any top iron, and its sleek design adds a sophisticated element to any golf bag.

The sweet spot is larger in the latest version of the P790 for added forgiveness, making it easier to manage mishits and keep the ball closer to target. When your strike is in the center, the P790 produces a solid thud sound at impact, and the feeling is compact and stable.

For a low-handicap player, the P790 provides the opportunity to work the ball both ways with precision and accuracy. Whether you draw the ball or cut the ball, the P790 offers the feeling required to flight the ball low or high to meet the demands of the shot.

The center of gravity is low in the long irons for optimal launch and playability. I found the long irons to be easy to get in the air compared to other blades, which require high swing speeds for optimal launch.

Overall, I consider the P790 to be the best iron that TaylorMade delivers. For any player looking to improve their approach shots and iron game, the P790 is a sturdy option.

4. TaylorMade Stealth 2 Fairway Wood

The Stealth 2 is one of the longest fairway woods that I have ever hit. The ball flies off the face at impact and gives you a real chance to reach the par fives in two.

I noticed exceptional forgiveness for shots that I caught out on the toe, and the launch stayed high and true. My typical miss is off the toe of the club, and I am always looking for clubs that perform well when struck in that area of the clubface. The Stealth 2 fairway wood is long, reliable, and accurate on toe mishits.

For anyone looking for a fairway wood to hit off the tee on short par fours or when the driver is letting you down, the Stealth 2 fairway wood is a trustworthy option. When teed up, the Stealth 2 fairway wood produces consistent accuracy and distance.

I found that the Stealth 2 fairway wood sets up well at address and was easy to get started on line. I felt balanced over the ball and gained the confidence to free up my swing and really let it rip. Geared for all skill levels, the Stealth 2 fairway wood is TaylorMade’s best fairway wood available.

5. TaylorMade Stealth 2 Driver

Endorsed by several PGA Tour professionals, the new Stealth 2 driver is one of the hottest on the market today. TaylorMade is known for their cutting-edge driver technology, and their latest driver model is no exception.

TaylorMade’s patented Twist Face technology allows for shots that are struck on the toe or heel of the driver to perform as if they were struck in the center of the clubface. I hit a few with the Stealth 2 driver that felt like they should have been foul balls that not only stayed in play but also held their distance and ball speed.

One of the biggest changes for the Stealth 2 versus other TaylorMade drivers is the new carbon-fiber clubface that replaces the titanium from years past. The carbon fiber weighs less than titanium and comes in a new red color.

The 60 layers of carbon fiber are encased by a polyurethane cover designed to stabilize the clubface and promote the right friction at impact across the face. I found the Stealth 2 driver to be extremely long and accurate. I gained about 10 yards of distance immediately, and my shot dispersion began to narrow.

I believe that the TaylorMade Stealth 2 driver is the best TaylorMade driver available and one of the best drivers in golf. With various shafts and lofts to choose from, it would be a welcome addition for any player, and the results will be immediate.

The distance, precision, and workability are all real. TaylorMade exceeds expectations with the Stealth 2 driver.
