The Hestra Women's Fall Line Mitts are excellent mittens for riders seeking exceptional warmth and quality. Crafted with a velvety interior that cradles individual fingers like gloves, they offer all-day comfort and warmth. These mittens feature top-tier waterproofing to keep hands dry in various conditions. They provide a snug fit with neoprene cuffs that won't slip off. Ideal for cold-weather riding, they prioritize warmth and durability over breathability and dexterity, making them an ideal choice for riders in freezing conditions.
Ideal for
- Extremely warm, velvety material holds individual fingers like an interior glove would versus a mitten
- Premium waterproofing to keep hands dry all day riding
- Neoprene cuff fits smoothly around the wrist in the jacket, so the mitts won't fall off the chairlift when removed
Not ideal for
- Exterior of these mittens dries out, so it's absolutely necessary to use the Hestra balm at least once per season
- Doesn't come with an additional liner, so size accordingly

Expert Reviews of the Hestra Women's Fall Line Mitt
Sarah Caldwell The Hestra Fall Line Mitts are a huge upgrade to my setup this season. These are premium mittens for any level of rider that values all-day warmth and overall quality. I love how these mittens fit like a glove underneath and hold each finger snugly like a traditional glove. The interior liner is super soft and smooth, and the exterior cowhide palm is exceptionally thick and durable. These mittens will hold up well as long as they are cared for properly. They come with Hestra balm, so I can polish them once the leather dries out.
I had a liner with my last pair of mittens but rarely used it, so I don't miss having an additional liner with these. The size fits my hands perfectly. I've had many conversations about my love for my new Hestra mittens on the chairlift. They are of excellent quality, and I know these will last me a long time.

Waterproofing
5/5
Sarah Caldwell gave 5 of 5 stars. The treated leather material adds warmth and keeps my hands feeling dry and warm. The only downside I've found was snow got inside when I set the mittens down. I had to shake them out and wait out the drying process. The interior isn't necessarily "waterproof," so they got a bit wet but dried quickly. Also worth noting is that these don't have removable liners.
Durability
4/5
Sarah Caldwell gave 4 of 5 stars. These mittens feel great. They fit my hands well and look stylish. A small downside I've found is the leather exterior isn't very durable, so scratches and tears can happen. Drying them out and storing the mittens properly is important. Hestra gloves come with balm, so it's best to treat them regularly so they continue to resist moisture and stay in good shape.
Comfort
5/5
Sarah Caldwell gave 5 of 5 stars. I rave about these mittens to my friends and strangers on the chairlift. The luxury leather material, in combination with the velvety smooth interior, is "chef's kiss." These are so comfortable and cozy. Just double-check Hestra's sizing chart before purchasing for correct sizing.
Warmth
5/5
Sarah Caldwell gave 5 of 5 stars. These mittens seal in the warmth really well. I only have issues with warmth when I get water or snow trapped inside. I've been much more careful to avoid that. If the snow gets trapped inside on freezing days, it's best to take a break to warm them up.
Ease of Movement
4/5
Sarah Caldwell gave 4 of 5 stars. These mittens are super snug to seal in the warmth. I can't move my fingers around freely, but I prefer mittens because they tend to be warm. Hestra makes 3-finger and 5-finger mittens if dexterity is important, but having the handcuffs makes it super easy to take them on and off.
Breathability
4/5
Sarah Caldwell gave 4 of 5 stars. These mitts are full-on warmth to keep fingers cozy in the coldest conditions. I have worn these riding in the spring, but I wouldn't recommend that. These mittens are built to seal in warmth, so I'd recommend a lighter, more breathable option in warmer riding conditions.
FAQs
What do you love about this product?
Sarah Caldwell These mittens are the definition of quality. They keep my hands warm in the coldest conditions. The interior is incredibly soft, like smooth velvet. One of my favorite features is the elastic handcuffs. Knowing the mittens won't fall off the chairlift when I need to take them off is super helpful.
What was your favorite moment with this gear?
Sarah Caldwell My favorite moment with these so far is wearing them in Idaho when it was extremely cold while riding. In the past, I've felt my mittens didn't seal in the heat, especially when it was freezing. Luckily, with my Hestras, I've never had issues with the cold seeping in, even briefly removing them and putting them back on. It's relatively easy to retain the heat and gain warmth.
Why did you choose this product?
Sarah Caldwell I went with Hestras after using Burton's traditional Gore-Tex mittens. I wanted mittens that were more form-fitting and less bulky, with a focus on warmth and waterproofing. I have always preferred mittens over gloves because they tend to keep my hands warmer. With mittens, generally, all fingers touch, so it tends to seal in more overall warmth. I didn't consider the 5-finger lining, but I was super pleased when I tried them. Basically, the interior material holds each of the five fingers like a glove would.
What is the value for the money versus other options?
Sarah Caldwell These mittens are definitely in the higher price range, but I think they are worth it. The Burton AK Clutch Mittens would be a comparable option, but I've personally found Burton's mittens/gloves to be a bulkier fit. I prefer a snug fit with my mittens because it helps seal the warmth. Hestra also makes a Fall Line 3-finger and 5-finger in a similar price range if dexterity is important.
