Brand Claims
What does Lib Tech claim about this board? [Mike] Lib Tech dubs the Terrain Wrecker as a go-anywhere, do-anything resort ripper. It features a directional shape, but it has a twin profile. It has a 6 ½ flex and C2X profile, which is camber, and a rocker in the middle.
[Will] Lib Tech claims that the Terrain Wrecker is an all-mountain ripper that’s easy to ride and fun all over the resort.
Overall Impressions
What is your overall impression of this board? [Mike] It’s a fun board, and I think it’s a great option for someone who just wants one board to ride the whole resort.
[Will] My overall impression of the Lib Tech Terrain Wrecker is that it’s a strong charging all-mountain board.
Carving
How does it turn? [Mike] This board is really, really fun carving with the Magne Traction. It engages that edge early.
What is the edge hold like? [Mike] That little camber beneath the feet holds on a nice edge. I actually found it to be really dialed in and locked in from the first run, almost a little bit too much for that first run of the day, but once you got it carving up on edge, it felt terrific.
[Will] The Terrain Wrecker is rated at a 6 ½ flex, and I felt it held up to that, maybe even a bit stiffer. At high speeds, it did really hold up for me, and the magnet-traction edges helped me stay locked into the turns.
How damp is the board? Do you feel any underfoot chatter? [Will] At high speeds, it held up on pretty flat slopes. When we got into a bit of the chopped-up terrain, I felt a bit of chatter.
How does it perform at speed? [Mike] It’s really stable once the speed gets up.
[Will] It felt really stable with the Magne Traction, getting it really deep on edge.
Freestyle
How is it for freestyle snowboarding? [Mike] From a freestyle perspective, if you’re buttering around, popping around, its 6 ½ out of 10 flex will make it approachable.
Could you speak about playfulness and pop? [Mike] It's really playful, obviously, with the twin profile.
[Will] I could feel the pop in this board.
Is it good for riding switch? [Mike] It’s going to feel at home riding switch.
[Will\ It felt pretty good riding switch. It has a directional shape, so it wasn’t as natural as riding normal. But in terms of riding switch, it’s totally doable in most places we took it.
How is it for buttering? [Will] Buttering it, kind of just doing a tail press, took a little bit of effort.
How is it on jumps? [Mike] If you’re looking to jib a little bit, send some side hits, jump … it is a really, really good board for you.
[Will] Because I feel like the flex is a little stiffer than what they rate it, hitting jumps, I felt like it really did send you up in the air.
Freeride
How is it for freeride snowboarding? [Will] I feel like it can handle almost everything at the resort once you get up to really the super steep runs.
How is it in powder? [Mike] It’s going to float really well, riding regular in the softer snow.
How is it in uneven terrain and chunder? [Will] In uneven terrain and in the trees, this wasn’t most maneuverable board for me, but it did hold up on the edges. I didn’t feel like I was sliding out as it got steeper.
How is it riding in the trees? How is its maneuverability? [Mike] I’d say it wasn’t my favorite in terms of maneuverability, but it performs really well. It’s quick edge to edge. I only found that I could get a little hooked up on edge. So you really had to muscle through it, especially at lower speeds. But overall, it’s going to do well in pretty much almost any condition in the trees.
What terrain is this board good for? [Will] This will definitely take you all over the mountain.
Recommendations
Who would you recommend this board to? [Mike] I recommend this board to someone who’s looking to ride all over the mountain and can’t afford to have multiple boards yet but also wants to play on the terrain park; they want to ride trees. They might be looking out for powder slashes when the snow gets off. An intermediate-and-up rider or that rider that’s really starting to explore more and, you know, wants one board to grab when they’re going to the resort.
[Will] For the majority of riders, this is going to hold up — for those weekend warriors or people just doing one or two trips a year to big resorts.
Who should avoid this board, are there other better options out there for them? [Mike]
[Will] I wouldn’t recommend this sport to beginners just because it did take a little effort to flex it and, also, maybe not for someone who’s a lighter rider.
